It’s an AMA (or an Ask Me Anything) episode! Which means I'm answering a question from one of you amazing ladies.
Our question this week comes from Finley.
Finley Asks: I am a new Christian and trying to get close to God, but I feel like there are so many rules to follow to be a Christian and I feel like I’m letting God down when I mess up (like forgetting to read the Bible and pray). And every time I do something wrong, I feel so guilty. I pray and pray. I know God still loves me. Can you help me?
Finley is a new Christian…which, let’s take a second and celebrate that! Yay! Finley, I am telling you, this is the absolute best decision you will ever make in life!
Now, In your question, there were several different topics we are going to cover in this week's episode:
- Is Christianity really about a bunch of rules?
- When I mess up, am I really letting God down? Why do I feel so guilty? Can I overcome this?
- Does God still love me even when I mess up? Spoiler Alert: the answer is YES!!
Now really quick, I want to talk to those of you who are new Christians. I want to give you 5 things that you can do to really begin to grow stronger in your walk with God.
- Make it a habit to read your Bible daily…and if you miss a day, don’t beat yourself up, just start again the next day!
- Start a personal prayer time between you and God. Prayer is not a formal, strict thing. It’s a conversation with God on a personal level-talk to Him just like you would talk to your friends.
- Make sure that you're going to a good church (meaning a Bible based church) where you can grow in the things of God! If you aren't able to go to a good church, because you don't have one near you or your parents aren't Christians, here is the link to my church...Joy Church...that you can check out. - Listen to the one thing God is telling you to do and do it. I am telling you, your life will be so much better when you do...even if it seems so hard to do it.
- Break off any “emotional” relationships or friendships with those who are pulling you away from God.
