In 2009 the UK was rocked by the MP’s expenses scandal. Every day we heard unbelievable stories of our politicians stealing from the taxpayers they were elected to serve and this has had a long-lasting effect on how politicians are perceived. One peer who was also leader of Essex County Council, Lord Hanningfield, was at the centre of the scandal. In this week’s episode of the UK True Crime Weekly Podcast we look in detail at his story.
