Chaos in Clapham: Six Teens Arrested After Viral TikTok Trend Turns South London into a Mess
Over two nights during the Easter school holidays, massive crowds of teenagers descended on Clapham High Street and the nearby Common, sparking fights, shop invasions, and general pandemonium. The trend, known as link-ups, started on March twenty-eighth and hit Clapham hard again on March thirty-first. Videos of the chaos went viral on TikTok, showing hundreds of kids lighting fires, setting off fireworks, and trying to barge into stores.
Shoppers were trapped inside an M and S for safety, and five people, including four police officers, were assaulted. One officer even ended up in the hospital with an arm injury. Around one hundred officers were deployed to shut it down, and six teenagers were arrested. Police are now reviewing CCTV and bodycam footage to identify ringleaders who hyped the trend online.
