Ashley Warren, a 41-year-old man, was sentenced to 10 years and 3 months in prison for his XL bully dogs fatal attack on his 70-year-old mother-in-law, Esther Martin. The incident occurred in February 2024 at Warrens home in Jaywick, Essex. Martin was watching the dog, Bear, and other animals while Warren was filming a music video. The court found that Bear hadnt been walked for four weeks and Warren knew the dog could be aggressive. Martin was attacked while trying to break up a puppy fight. Warren was also found guilty of having a knife during arrest and lying about exemption papers for the dog. Both adult dogs were put down, and Warren is banned from owning any dogs for life. This case sets a strong precedent under the new XL bully laws.
