Show Notes
If you're not entrenched in the marathon world, it may surprise you to know that the fastest qualifiers aren't always the ones who are actually sent to the Olympics. The runners that make the team are entirely at the discretion of Athletics Australia. It's a policy that's seen one of our best marathoners - top-three finisher, Lisa Weightman - miss out on selection for Paris, triggering a heated debate online and in the athletics community.
