S4 Ep 132The Olivia Barash Interview "Tuff Turf"

Actress Olivia Barash (Tuff Turf, Little House On The Prairie, Repo Man) reminisces on the many stand out moments of her incredible career in the 80s! She talks about making movies with Robert Downey Jr & James Spader, surfing in Dogtown, and making a transition from acting to music. She shares how her small (and arguably the most heartbreaking), pivotal role in Little House on The Prairie as Sylvia, left such an impression on the world, and ultimately led to more attention (both from the industry and from stalkers). She also talks about auditioning for director Alex Cox to land her role in the cult classic, Repo Man alongside Emilio Estevez. Nostalgia runs wild in this interview! Dig our show? S4 Ep 114The Jill Schoelen Interview "The Stepfather"

E

Actress Jill Schoelen (The Stepfather, That Was Then…This Is Now, Popcorn) 29 years ago, actress Jill Schoelen (The Stepfather, That Was Then…This Is Now, Popcorn) abruptly retired from acting at the height of her career. Now, as she makes her triumphant return in front of the camera, we are thrilled to have her join us for a beautiful conversation about self-worth, empathy, generational trauma, and how to leave the world better than how we came into it. Beginning with her first theatrical role in Joel Schumacher's D.C. Cab, to being cast alongside Emilio Estevez and Craig Sheffer in S.E. Hinton’s That Was Then…This Is Now, to her experience joining the cast of slasher Popcorn after more than half of the film had already been shot, Jill’s performances are always memorable. Jill shares how problematic the writing for female characters was in the 80’s, and discusses her time on screen in Thunder Alley, Rich Girl, & Little House On The Prairie. The cup of gratitude & joy runneth over in this interview. Jill is phenomenal person with a great perspective! Dig our show? S4 Ep 104The Robert Rusler Interview "Thrashin'"

E

Actor Robert Rusler (Weird Science, Thrashin’, Shag, Vamp) was a big part of some our favorite 80's films. We were beyond stoked to have him on the show to discuss his time as the love interest of Phoebe Cates in Shag, his role as the dynamic leader of the notorious skate crew, the Daggers (and enemy of Josh Brolin) in Thrashin', and of course, as a bully in the John Hughes film that launched his career, Weird Science. Robert is candid about how sobriety saved his life and how gratitude, love and joy changed his perspective and allowed him to see beyond regret. He shares how important his relationship with Robert Downey Jr. has always been, since meeting on the set of Weird Science, the wisdom RDJ taught him about auditioning and life, and how close they remain to this day. S4 Ep 103Thrashin' & The Soundtrack That Never Was

E

Slightly after "The Goonies" but way before "Avengers: End Game" Josh Brolin starred in 1986’s epic "Romeo & Juliet on skateboards" drama, Thrashin’. Z&D break down the good, the bad, and the air guitar of this nostalgic flick, along with the soundtrack (featuring Meatloaf, Devo, The Truth, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Animotion, the Bangles) that unfortunately never received an official release. The dudes dig deep into the logistics of skating around the vast landscape of 1980's Los Angeles and, as always, pop culture (Castlevania, Punky Brewster) baby! We conclude this year's exciting March-ial Arts Madness run with writer/director/producer Sheldon Lettich (Bloodsport, Lionheart, Double Impact, Only the Strong), who blew us away with his stories about serving our country as a US Marine in Vietnam, being "the man behind Jean-Claude Van Damme", and his new biography, Sheldon Lettich: From Vietnam to Van Damme, written by Corey Danna (click the link to purchase). Sheldon has had a hand in countless films from the 80's and 90's, including Russkies, Rambo III, The Order, Perfect Target, The Last Patrol with Dolph Lundgren, and Only the Strong with Mark Dacascos. You will also hear about how he saved the film, Cyborg. We go deep! We discuss his first short film, "Firefight" (1986), which helped launch the careers of future notables, Brian Thompson, brothers Phillip and Simon Rhee, and the real Frank Dux (who Bloodsport is based on). The film has been remastered and can be watched for free over on Viking Samurai's YouTube channel. And speaking of Frank Dux, while it is now common knowledge that he was a fraud and most of Bloodsport was a lie, you will definitely want to hear Sheldon's take on the real Frank.
