Fiction to try when all you read are self-help and business books

Watch or read this episode hereWhen you're afraid to read fiction because it's "not productive."I've never been much of a reader. I was always the cliff notes kind of person in school. I've always been more of a TV person…. until this year when I consumed 47 books.I feel like I've unlocked this whole new world and this new side of self-care for me.It's interesting how it's impacted my creative work and allowed me to open up and see how much value is in simply storytelling, sharing and being. My business-y brain would normally say “I can only read a business book because that's a ‘productive’ way to use my limited time.”But I’ve learned that there is productivity in:reading these storiesimmersing yourself in these worldsrestingand just living life. And I think that's a big thing that I'm taking into 2025: That life is about living, being, learning and being able to support others along the way.… And I just think the support can look different than we thought it had to look.So in this video, I share:📚 How I transitioned from self-help to fiction✨ The books that eased me into the world of stories, like The Midnight Library and Emily Henry's rom-coms🎧 Tips for reading for free with Libby and maximizing Kindle Unlimited🎙️ Why audiobooks (like Daisy Jones & The Six) changed my experience💡 How fiction impacts creativity, productivity, and self-care💻 Why Goodreads is so helpful to have📗 And books to try if you like: Emily Henry, Gilmore Girls, Slow Living or are a Susbtack WriterLet’s dive into this journey together and explore how fiction can inspire and enrich your life.📖 Mentioned Books & Authors:The Midnight Library by Matt HaigHappy Place and other novels by Emily HenryWorks by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Daisy Jones & The Six, Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo)Abby Jimenez (Part of Your World, The Friend Zone Series)Laurie Gilmore (Pumpkin Spice Cafe, The Cinnamon Bun Book Store, The Christmas Tree Farm)Annabel Monaghan (Nora Goes Off Script)Jesse Q. I think ChatGPT is my new business bestie... 5 prompts I've used↓

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit tuningin.substack.comRead or watch this full episode here.So I think ChatGPT has become my new business bestie…I've been using it so much lately and having conversations with it (not in a creepy way.)In a way that has helped for the past month and a half:* clarify my ideas.* actually take action on those ideas.* Lighten the load of all of the things that I'm thinking about and deciding between.* Giving my mom brain the chance to relax a little bit* and allowing me to feel more organized in all of my creative thoughts. It's been really interesting to see…All of the different things that you can put in it and the fact that it has a memory and can remember the important parts of your business. It's just been so helpful.I get so excited when I see others share their ChatGPT prompts…Because it expands my awareness of what this tool can do for us… especially as slow living mom creatives who most likely are doing a lot of this by ourselves. And I think it's so important for us to share this information in our creative moms community because that's how we all grow, right? PLUS it's just fun to share recommendations and the things that have worked for us and to see what has worked for others. We have so many ideas and then mom brain and the brain fog and the lack of sleep and all the other things that our mind goes to can make it harder to actually create things. So let's hop into my ChatGPT so you can try to use some of these prompts to bring clarity and calm to your creative process too. This post is part of the mom creatives community I host on Substack. If you’ve been looking for a low-lift space to show up, feel seen and connect with other like-minded women exploring slow living, minimalism and creativity at the intersection of motherhood, then learn more about this community here.

To hear more, visit tuningin.substack.comWatch and Join our Slow Living Mom Creatives Community here.I've gotten some great feedback about my recent video and I wanted to pop in and give a little behind the scenes of how it came to be because I recorded this one differently.I set it up, edited it and just did the whole process in a way I haven't done before. And it was really cool to try not only something new, but something that feels:* really easy* sustainable* and has even posed some additional questions on how I can do more of this moving forward. So I thought I'd come in, give you the behind the scenes and show you the nuts and bolts of how this whole video came to be, because maybe it'll help you in your creation too.

If you're a podcaster.... you're a writer.

Read this article + join our community of slow living, mom creatives here.If you're a podcaster, creative, or somebody who has thoughts that they're craving to share: you're a writer…. You just might not realize it yet.I am an audio person first.* Staring at a blank page and trying to type just doesn't work for me.* I've gotten better with that over time by creating in this way.But all in all, the way that I create best, the way that I write best, is by speaking first.By sharing what I have to say in a real, authentic, truthful, conversational way and then in taking that transcription… I am able to write. And I think that's a common misconception in the writing world… (and a beautiful byproduct of the creative space)That we can look at these mediums, not just for what they originally were.Because there's a lot of intersection between podcasters, creatives and wanting to write a book. But sometimes that can feel really far-fetched.That's why this aha is so beautiful. It shows that it’s not as out of reach as it feels…Because guess what? You're probably already doing it.If you are talking and sharing or if you have ideas in your head that you've been craving to get out there, then you're already doing the writing.Sometimes we can get pigeonholed into thinking there's only one right way to do things…When in reality, we could already be doing them if we tune in to what works best for us.Let’s Grow Girl 🌿If you enjoy my work and want to go deeper you can…* Join my paid community here where we dive into the intersection of slow living as a mom creative + connect in community.* Explore my mini-courses here, like: How to Start a Simple, Stress-Free Podcast + How to Create Your Way on Substack* View my Creative Studio Rental here. Exploring Essence Boards 🎨

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit tuningin.substack.comRead or watch this post here.Okay, I wanted to show you another way I’m being creative.I don't know about you, but I love Pinterest. I'm a very visual person. My close friends and I laugh because I have a very weird mind that plays a movie in my head for what I’m visualizing. And so what I love about Pinterest and visuals like that is it allows me to take that movie that's constantly playing in my head and assign a visual I can share with others.Maybe because I'm an HSP…I also really feel feelings in images and so for me:* visual imagery* and Pinterest* and creating boards* and really curating things,* brings the essence of what I'm thinking and feeling to life.So when I went on that girl's trip, I knew I wanted to try some different mediums.I had this list in Asana of all these different topics I’d written down that I wanted to talk about.Let’s Grow Girl 🌿If you enjoy my work and want to go deeper you can…* Explore my mini-courses here.* View my Creative Studio Rental here.* See how we’re helping clients launch their podcast on Substack in one day here.

The moment I realized experiences matter more than expertise

Read or watch this episode hereYour experience matters.I just got back from a wonderful breakfast with an amazing friend. And our conversation today, paired with a Netflix documentary I watched last night, and a months-worth of little breadcrumbs have brought this concept into focus for me.Experience vs. ExpertiseI’ve found so much of this online space to be focused on being the expert, the thought leader, the one who's known for just one thing.* And I’ve also found that content to be very prescriptive. You’re supposed to talk about what you know and lay out the steps for people. And as a creator, I feel like it's become very constrictive and limiting. And so I came to Tuning In and this platform to try something different.Answering the question: What would it look like if I just authentically shared?(Which I’ve come to realize, has been sharing my experiences.)* Not my way or the highway* Not trying to tell you what to do.* But by journaling and sharing the questions that are prompting me, I could then offer you a prompt too.Once I started to see that distinction, my client Melissa and I then started to recognize, huh, what does it look like even in an interview? To go from:* How do you do this?* Or what do you do?Which focus on expertise. To phrasing questions from the experience lens:* Like- tell us about a time* Or do you remember what that felt like?Asking more about those feelings. What’s your currency? Then more recently I was listening to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and there was a very specific line that catapulted this concept more:She talked about how she came from nothing, and in Hollywood, she found her currency, unfortunately, in her body. There was something about the way that she phrased it, where it made me think:Huh, when you don't have physical currency in the way that you want, how can you look and see what currency you do have?* When you have a lived experience that you can help other people through too.* One’s that you’ve felt in the depths of your soul.Wow… how important it is to share and lead from those experiences.I feel like there's such a greater depth and intentionality when you lead from your life. When you’ve lived it and felt it and had visceral reactions to these things. You understand the importance of the why and some intricacies that pure knowledge don’t seem to touch. And of course, it's impossible for us to have the same lived experiences, right? Every millisecond of our day, even if you live it alongside your partner or kids, is all viewed through a different lens and so it's never going to be same-same.But overall it made me realize: The gravity of people creatives like us to find our spot, our hub, our medium to share our experiences through so we can inspire, create community and lead people when they’re going through those same experiences. It's not that they need to know how it's that they need to feel seen and understood and not alone, right?Connection is at the core of everything we need. And what a gift it is to not only better connect ourselves to our experiences but also to support others through them too.And so maybe this prompt can help you recognize the power in sharing your experiences. That you don't have to come from that expertise world. But that your stories are the potency and your connection is where the depth, weight, leadership and transformation happens. And that your worth doesn't have to be in teaching people how to do something, but that your courage and showing up in that space, in that experience, in those people being able to see themselves. That's where the magic and the gold happens. That’s why I’ve found it so important to share my experience on Substack with creative moms like you.Because your experiences, your words, your stories are SO powerful and this hub/medium/platform I’ve found has been that missing link for me.So many amazing women I talk to want to:* talk and share* or write a book* but are unsure how to get started in a holistic way that supports their lives, time, livelihood and unrestrictive creativity. That was my experience too. But since stepping into my creative side with Substack I’ve found that missing business model I've been searching for.So if you want to share your experiences and create a community that cares… This is a public episode. How I rest when I feel like I need to work

For the full experience: watch Episode #1 of Recording on the Road here or read it here. Are we giving ourselves the thing we crave most? I’ve desperately needed rest lately. So I texted my mom to watch the kids, took to Airbnb, found a gorgeous rental and Collin and I hit the road to recharge. But once we got here… I started to struggle with what “counted” as rest. I was going against my impulse of how I wanted to spend this short time. Until I realized: Only I know what my body truly needs to refuel. And now I understand how to listen and accept that fluid definition of rest. ____________________________________________ Recording on the Road is a podcast series exploring Airbnbs and modern, minimalist (dreamily designed) spaces. Instead of a gratitude practice... I'm becoming creative.

I was hit with an overwhelming wave of gratitude the other day.And it was interesting because:* the gratitude* and recognition of how I've been feeling good* and how happy I am with some of the changes I've made in my life recentlycame because of the contrast of not getting to do those things in the way I've been doing it.It's interesting… that sometimes it takes lack to recognize the cravings and impulses you have. To recognize the things that you're doing that are really good. When I get out of my norms, I feel even more grateful. And it's interesting because a gratitude practice is something I've felt like I “should” have…. like maybe it's that “missing piece.”So in this moment of feeling gratitude, like I want more of this and journaling and noticing this awareness, I of course looked up gratitude practices to see if I could hit that nail on the head while I was swimming in it.… And I don't think a gratitude practice is what I really want. What feels better to me is a creative practice.Through Substack, my cinematic podcasting on YouTube and all of these things that I'm trying, I'm realizing that leaving behind that business-ey way and…stepping into this creative way is same, same, same.I'm noticing this craving to do something different more often. To shed my efficient business side and lean into being a creative, an artist, going more slowly, being more intentional. And in doing that, I'm noticing it expand into gratitude and happiness.…. Despite the hard bits in life.My NEW Paid Column: Becoming CreativeI want to share my process of leaving behind this identity that I've found in myself for so long of business owner and stepping into being a creative, being an artist, and how that creativity is shifting my life.Creativity has been really healing for me and is making such a difference in my life. And so as someone who’s shifting from:* a type A* overachiever* high achiever* business minded* strategy focused* efficiency-freak type of personI feel called to share my journey as I’m learning how to be more artistic and slow and to do life differently.I'm hoping that this new column provides:* An example of ways to tap into that creativity if you feel called to.* That it unlocks something in you so you can do more of what you crave.* That it helps you find more of what feels good* And supports you in living more intentionally and in line with the life that you want to live.So maybe this will provide that for you too? A prompt for you to try to do things differently? Or maybe you're feeling the same craving I am and you're interested in becoming creative too but don't know where to begin?I’m hoping that in sharing my journey, I can help inspire you to leave behind some of the ways that no longer feel good and to step into what does._______________________________________________Let’s Grow Girl 🌿If you enjoy my work and want to go deeper you can…* Join my paid community here where we dive into slow living as a mompreneur, uncovering your blueprint + connecting in community* Explore my Creative Studio Rental here* See how we’re helping clients launch their podcast on Substack in one day here This is a public episode. A new career path? The rise of the modern day philosopher

Read this full post and join our community here.I have a new theory about a career that doesn't exactly exist yet.It feels like there is a group of us who loves to talk and share, but all the traditional business models don't really fit for us either. There's the old school way of podcasting where you get to talk and share, but you've got to focus on downloads and ads and all of these things that aren't the heart of what we want to do, which is connection.Or your coaching side, which we don't necessarily want to support people in that way. There's book writing, but that can take a while… and again, we prefer the talking part.I recently had this existential crisis of: what in the world am I doing? Where am I trying to go with all of this?So after a walk and a long Voxer chat with Collin, I decided to sit down and do my lovely live journaling.... and I came to a conclusion that: it's time for a new business model for those of us who don't fit in the coach, membership owner, artist, service provider or product owner category...For me, this looks like in stepping into being, let's say, a modern day philosopher:* Sharing, being curious, being critical, thinking differently, prompting, trying to make sense of it all.* I'm doing that through getting behind the mic and talking and sharing.* Through creating these publications in community, in the paid side of my Substack.* Sharing my vision and truthfully my whole self and my life.Because of Substack, I can just be me. I can share my thoughts and grow a community that cares and create an income from that.Claire Venus recently highlighted Molly Ella in this post who is doing this so well between Substack + Youtube. So I'm wondering if you want to join me in the new wave of modern philosophers? Of us podcasters, creators, videographers, visionaries and curious seekers who just want to understand our world and the why behind what we're doing more?I'd love to hear it in the comments.P.S. curious to learn more about Substack? This post was actually created while filming my newest mini-course which walks you through every step I took to create this post/podcast episode and how you too can podcast on Substack (with ease!)Reply in the comments if you’re interested in checking out the mini-course when it’s done!___________________________________________________________________________Let’s Grow Girl 🌿If you enjoy my work and want to go deeper you can…* Join my paid community here where we dive into slow living as a mompreneur, uncovering your path to freedom and fulfillment in your life and connect in community* Explore my Creative Studio Rental here* See how we’re helping clients launch their podcast on Substack in one day here (it’s easier than ever!) But from a pure numbers perspective- June and July have been down. We’re always talking about the big wins… and forget to talk about the magic in “failures” and flowI’ve been tracking my progress since February and it's been interesting to see what's happened in the past couple months. I think it’s so important to talk about what works AND WHAT DOESN’T and to name the good, bad and in between because reality isn’t always brought up in the online space. So I wanted to hop in and give you a real, honest update on:* What has happened statistically in my business* And what has happened from a non-numbers perspective- from all the other good stuff that’s happened.* Even if the business didn't grow, there's a lot of good things that did shift. My stats from June + JulyAll in all, I would say the biggest analytical insight, is that platforms just seem to be down.Since the end of May, I noticed everything that had been working for me, wasn’t getting the same results. Views, ads, call conversions- everything just seemed to be down. And honestly, I looked at that as a good thing. That means people are actually living their lives, enjoying the summer and not on their phones as much. And so while some might look at that thinking: “Yeah, but okay, business. How do we make sure that that works?”I found it gave me opportunities to look at my business in a new way and to be able to play without as much pressure. If everything is down right now, I can let sales growth go and allow my mind to lean into growth in new ways.Where before I may have gotten kind of freaked out, that we didn't have sales growth. Now I’m relaxing into: growth all the time isn't reality. In terms of what I did for marketing- I'm going to hit these numbers really high level, you can see all the screenshots dive into those analytics and details here.Maybe this will prompt you to look at your business for more than just the numbers. To see beyond the sales. And if it's not growth in sales, to see growth in all the other ways.______________________________________________________________________Let’s Grow Girl 🌿If you enjoy my work and want to go deeper you can…* Explore my Creative Studio Rental here* See how we’re helping clients launch their podcast on Substack in one day here (it’s easier than ever!)

A branding prompt that stopped me in my tracks...

I love that our platforms get to be our own worlds but when Claire Venus prompted:How would you best describe your Substack if it were a place?I froze 😳 I started on Substack because I love all the platform can do- it’s limitless and brilliant. ✨With one push of a button I can create, share and market in whatever way feels good that day.I was so swept up in the utility of it all that I forgot about the space itself… the vibe…. the feel.(Ironic seeing I created a whole studio with this in mind first🤦🏼‍♀️)So after a few hours on Pinterest (and ’s prompt running in my head- how do you want your people to feel after they’ve interacted with you) I put this board together to reflect that:Tuning In is a space for deep, real, meaningful conversations about living life with intention. Cozied up on the living room couch with your two closest girlfriends and a cup of something delicious ☕️ legs wrapped up like a pretzel, blanket hugging you, then after a breath you say “ok- go!” (Because we finally have a minute for mom talk.)It’s where we get intentional and curious and prompt each other to get to the root and heart of it all so we can live the free and fulfilled Mompreneur lives we crave 💕✨And this realization has made me think deeper in terms of my IRL space too.If this is the vibe I’m creating with my offerings… wouldn’t my physical space feel better this way too?Maybe this little aha will help you reflect on the world you’re creating too?* Can you see it?* Describe it?* Feel it?* And how does that match up with your real life?Let me know in the comments!Let’s Grow Girl 🌿If you enjoy my work and want to go deeper you can…* Join my paid community here where we dive into slow living as a mompreneur, uncovering your path to freedom and fulfillment in your life and connect in community* Explore my Creative Studio Rental here* See how we’re helping clients launch their podcast on Substack in one day here (it’s easier than ever!) Do YOU really want to consume more content?

Do YOU really want to consume more content? That's a question I've been asking myself a lot lately. Our time is precious. And, I don’t want to be another person, simply fire hosing you with information for “consistency’s sake” (or mindlessly consuming myself, either.)* I think as business owners and as creatives, it's an important question for us all to stop and ask ourselves more. To be very intentional with our content, with our creation, with how we're asking others to spend their time.I feel like it's a very noisy, overwhelming and overstimulating world right now.You get on any type of platform (TV, social, magazines, stores etc.) and you're constantly being sold to.It's almost like you're at this street market and people are in your face telling you, you need this thing. It can be really overstimulating and overwhelming. So as a business owner and a creative myself, I'm trying to really think about, how do I want to show up? How do I want people to feel when they're in my world? When I come across? And in that process I’ve asked myself: There’s got to be a gentler way? A way to rely more on meeting people where they're at when they have a question. To show up through discoverability and SEO because they’re looking for an answer and I have a solution. A way to mindfully give people content that's deep and meaningful, but doesn't have to be constant. So I'm curious on your thoughts: on consumption, on creation. And if this prompt was supportive for you? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.__________________________________________________________________________Let’s Grow Girl 🌿If you enjoy my work and want to go deeper you can…* Join my paid community here where we dive into slow living as a mompreneur, uncovering your blueprint + connect in community* Explore my Creative Studio Rental here* See how we’re helping clients launch their podcast on Substack in one day here This is a public episode. The answers are inside you *Uncovering Your Business + Life Blueprint*

You know, those times when you feel like you're shifting? Like there's a new wave or something's coming up for you? When that happens for me- what I do best is organize my thoughts and then simplify.Today I felt this new shift in the way that I've been creating and tracking and where I want to go next.I’ve felt a change in allowing myself to do these things that I never allowed myself to do before. And that's really where this whole platform started for me.Tuning In and this Substack was created as a space for me to tune into myself and to (hopefully) provide a reflection and mirror for you too.It really came from seeing and not enjoying my experience in the online space.Maybe you’ve felt this way too? Maybe you're starting to recognize it? Maybe this will give you a new perspective to think about? (And maybe you’ve had a different, more positive experience all together.)Ultimately, I left the coaching world, recognizing my power and reclaiming it. Realizing that the blueprint is inside me. Nobody has my answers. My answers are within.Instead of looking for the external world to get me to my next step, now, I recognize my nudges and desires and answers and act on them. What I feel like is missing (and what I hope I am able to bring to you in this space) is a reflection, a mirror. Because nobody else really knows what's best for us. Only we can intuitively feel into what feels “right” and good. There's a lot of other factors that you can lean on like:* Human design* Knowing your personality tests* For me, knowing my goals, my legacy, vision, mission and my why + being really intentionalAt the end of the day, I feel like there's a lot of people (maybe not intentionally) manipulating, but let's say a lot of powerful marketing going on that:* pushes you over the edge* that makes you feel these big feelings* this doubt* the shame* this, I don't know well enough to make my own decisions because they’ve had success.Instead, what I would love to see more of, is that turn of the mirror towards you. Less telling, more posing questions to guide you towards your answers. My experience has been tuning out to tune in. I've learned to better listen to myself. Asking:* What works for me?* What feels good to me?* And working that muscle again and again to honestly answer that question and take action based on it.Slow living has certainly helped too.So, as I'm continuing to uncover my internal blueprint, this space will be a place to help you uncover yours. To learn how to listen to those answers inside and take action on them (instead of doubting them.)Here are the 5 steps I took to uncover my answers and blueprint the first time (and time and time again after that.)*Again, these are not steps that I say you need to follow. I'm sharing what I noticed for myself and maybe you could take note of that too.1. Awareness + Pattern Breaking2. Conviction + Clarity3. Simplifying4. Tuning In5. Recalibration + FlowThis cycle of: Clarity, Alignment, Recalibration- is really the cycle that I've done time and time again. It’s brought me to uncovering my answers and my blueprint each time and maybe it can help you too.Questions to ask yourself* When have you been making decisions that felt so aligned and felt like they were the right thing for you?* And what were you doing when you’ve felt, “I'm not living my blueprint. I'm following somebody else's. I feel doubt and shame and just crummy.”* Maybe there's time for you to tune out, to tune in. Maybe you can start to uncover your blueprint too._______________________________________________Let’s Grow Girl 🌿If you enjoy my work and want to go deeper you can…* Join my paid community here where we dive into slow living as a mompreneur, uncovering your blueprint + connecting in community* Explore my Creative Studio Rental here* See how we’re helping clients launch their podcast on Substack in one day here This is a public episode. Social Media is Shifting... here's how slow living plays into it

I’ve been having a lot of talks about why we’re creating content and doing certain things in our businesses lately.* Whether it’s my own internal conversation* Or with clients and friendsI think we’re all coming to reframe what content is, why we’re doing it… or at least craving answers to- does it have to be this hard?My mindset around creating content: It's okay to slow down and take time on that piece.More to come in a part 2 on making slow content.Subscribe so you don’t miss it! A prompt for when you're thinking "What am I even doing?" in business + life

I think sometimes as business owners and moms, it can feel like: “Well, what am I even doing here?” You know?I always love to reflect back the through lines I see to fellow mompreneurs I work or chat with because, as one of my coaches used to say:You can’t read the label from inside the bottle. But in my recent Youtube research as I’m creating this new YouTube channel and cinematic videos to pair with these Substack audios I’ve posted (which has been so much fun to do) I came across this video with Jack from Patreon interviewing Van Neistat. Van said something that was so poignant to me, which was:“I'm in it for the edit.”You know how, sometimes when people say something, you're just like THAT. That describes how I feel.* That’s what that quote was for me.And maybe my aha can provide you with that too? Maybe this can help you tune in and recognize what you're in it for with your business? With your life? With any aspect?Maybe it'll help you find a through line in the work you're doing? And maybe allow you to recognize that it's okay to slow down and take time on that piece (of content, creation, marketing strategy, business move, etc.)Join our community of mindful mompreneurs exploring slow living, feminine business, unschooling and living a familypreneurship lifestyle. My mindset (that I’d guess has been ingrained in you too) was that if I focused on “consistently” making all of my marketing content in that one space, then I would see results. The biggest thing I’ve come to recognize (and literally see in the sales this last month) is that my success has not been from one thing- it's been from a mix.And that honestly feels like such a relief…. that I don't have to put all my eggs in one basket, especially if it’s draining me and I'm not seeing real results. Before I’d feel like I’m out of luck and have wasted my time but now I feel so much calmer and like when one thing isn’t working I can pull a different lever.Even though, I’m doing multiple things and “a lot” of things, each of them are reaping me different rewards. And each activity is happening with a different intention behind it.I don't think I would have seen this if I didn't leave Instagram, reassess how I wanted to show up and share about my business ….. and really what the point of it all is.

Bianca Morra has transformed my Substack + branding through her photos... here's how

I am extremely passionate about the philosophy of photographic practice and how we can continue to become more of ourselves through this tool that is usually a trigger for most. To use photography as a tool and a portal to really get truer and deeper into our own self discovery. The portal being the pictures, the taking of the pictures- as far and as wide as you want to go with it. I feel like we have the opportunity to make every part of that process something that supports us and affirms every part of who we are rather than using it to just showcase one facet of who we are.Megan: I feel like you've really helped me with that in our own conversations and picture taking. We were just talking about how one of our clients is also one of your clients and we've had this joint feeling of:* It's so helpful to have these pictures* And it's layered and can be almost confronting to see yourself in such a true way.Especially as a business owner and a podcaster, integrating these visuals into telling your story more is really helpful. And at the same time you're like: Ooh, that's me and what sides of me do I want to show and how willing am I to show up fully as myself?I have opened my eyes so much to the layeredness and the depths that, if you allow photography to have, it can have if you're open and willing to it.And I love our intersection between the two, it's same-same with podcasting, right? Yours is in the visual and mine is in the audio, but we can have those same experiences in in both worlds especially by storytelling on Substack through this authentic photography medium.Connect with BiancaWebsitePodcastInstagram This is a public episode. How to Use Human Design to Thrive in Life and Business

This is a free preview of a paid episode. Our conversation naturally flowed into Human Design, which really sparked an interest in me.I had looked into it before (and knew some of the basics like my energy type is manifesting generator) but I got a little lost in it.Dre explained what a difference knowing not only her profile has made but knowing her son and husband’s too. It’s helped them work together as a more cohesive unit and intrigued me from how it can help from a business perspective also.So I'm really excited that we could bring an explanation of this tool to you today.Want a Human Design Reading from Dre? Are You Fangirling Over Your Work?

This probably sounds weird, but I've been using the word fangirl a lot in regards to everything in my life and in business. I found myself talking about myself today in a way (which admittedly sounds weird to say out loud) but fangirling over the content that I'm putting out.As I think about it more, I thought it might be something worth sharing with you:Is the work you're doing now and are the things you're putting out there something that you would fangirl over? Loving what I have: "As Is"

I've really been tuning in to how often I'm looking at the improvement instead of the enoughness and the goodness in what is here now. The easiest way to see this, and has been coming up a lot lately for me, is in our home. And so, what I've been uncovering for myself is this concept of: as is. How can I look at what is in my life right now and learn to love it as is?I was journaling on this the other day, and my end conclusion that I wrote down was: What if every day for the next month, I look for the goodness, the abundance, and the future in the now? How to create more connective content with less production

I was literally just recording another episode when I walked away, turned off the lights here in the studio and thought to myself": “I'm just so glad I have a recording space already set up.”I was thinking if I had to set the mic up and set up the lights and move everything around- I wouldn’t have taken the time to record. I would let the thoughts or ideas float away or live in Voxer with my friends. It reminds me of what Adriene from Yoga with Adriene says: “The hardest part is showing up and getting yourself to the mat.”Shortening the Distance from Download to Creation:I've noticed that when I feel inspired, if I get behind the mic right then, the content is so much better. It's so much more dropped in when I can lessen the distance between download of an idea and speaking it out. The better it is for everyone and everything. I hope you enjoy this impromptu little recording here and maybe it's inspired you too. This is a public episode. I felt like I was wasting time and over consuming. So, that’s where I’m going to start with these stats. If you don't want to churn out content for consistency's sake...

They say consistency is key, right? That by showing up consistently, your people know when to expect you and you always stay top of mind. But as a creator it makes me feel like I need to push and show up regardless if I have something to share or not- otherwise I’ll be “forgotten” or I “miss out” (in theory.)I've been thinking about this a lot, and that doesn't feel like reality anymore.Yes, at one point, putting consistent content out there on a specific day at a specific time, like TV shows did, made sense. You did love waiting for Thursday nights at 7 when Friends came on. You counted on it.But now, we have the choice as the consumer. We can choose to consume what we want, when we want and how much we want. (One of the many reasons I love Substack.)And so I think flipping that script as a creator, and a creative, is really recognizing: Does it matter if I show up on the same day at the same time just to stay top-of-mind?Are my people even waiting for me? No. Most of us don't recognize when someone hasn’t posted because we come to it on our own time. And since I've left Instagram (other than posting our upcoming Podcasting Moms Conference April 15th in Nashville) I've noticed that anxious pull towards the shoulds of showing up has dissipated a lot, which is huge.My new definition of consistencyI've really been thinking about: coming to things on my own time, slowing down, not pushing. And so that's exactly what happened with this podcast. In theory, I “should” have posted this last Sunday. But it wouldn't have worked for my schedule and honestly, I had nothing to say then.I want to bring you these episodes because I actually have something to say.And in this time since we traveled and I've been swirling with my thoughts, I left room for magic…. and stuff worth sharing surfaced. No effort. No force. Just flow.So if churning out content feels like a drain- consider leaving room for magic in your creation process. What would it look like to wait for that inspirational hit? That intuitive PING!Chances are everything will continue to grow in your business even if you don’t send out that forced post that you aren’t feeling good about.(I'll be sharing more about our feminine business framework that we've been focusing on, which is very much about discoverability and how quality over quantity is what I'm seeing in the actual trends.)Consistency Part Two: Coming SundaySince recording this episode I had the pleasure of interviewing Kendall Cherry for this Substack. The episode will air on Sunday and helped me view consistency in an even deeper way…. and dare I say: consider a new way to show up consistently…. Tune in to hear how we can leave room for magic and show up when it feels good and do it consistently by bottling up those moments and reusing them again and again.Maybe a life full of dichotomies isn’t so bad… Can’t wait to share that more! Why I'm all-in on podcasting as a mompreneur

Podcasting has given me so much over these last 2.5 years. I mean, it's the whole reason we have a studio now. It's the reason we support clients with launching and producing podcasts and why we encourage them to (if you have something to say) get behind the mic and share it.My original why has certainly served me up until now but I’ve noticed a shift in myself lately. I've really been reworking what “podcasting” means to me these days— and Substack has certainly helped shift that definition too.Click Here to Read This Episode This is a public episode. Thanks for checking out Tuning In! Subscribe and never miss an update.Welcome to Tuning In. I'm Megan!I am a mom, an entrepreneur and a Podcast Studio co-founder with my amazing husband, Collin. Our kids, Jack and Sophia, are at the current time of this writing, 4.5 and 3. And we live in the sweetest town outside of Cleveland, Ohio- called Chagrin Falls. If you are a Gilmore Girls obsessed woman like me (I'm on the 15th time around watching it) we live in the real-life Stars Hollow. 😍 Complete with a rubber duck race down our river and waterfall and a popcorn ball-drop for our NYE celebration! (It’s a magical place✨)We just love the way we're living life. And really, that's the impetus for what we’re doing here. This concept of Substack and having a space to come where we can really build community, interact with each other, and in a really thoughtful and intentional way- share the work we're doing in a format that I actually enjoy receiving as a reader- are a few of the many reasons why I wanted to start a Substack. It's email marketing but in a way that we want to consume it, an archive so new followers can binge the potent messages we’ve already created AND it offers community . Which made me think to myself: “Wow, this is that thing that brings it all together.”And so this is why, as a business owner, as a mom, as a consumer and as a creator- I've fallen in love with this concept of Substack. And I'm just so excited to get to play with it, not only for ourselves, but for our clients and community as well. To be able to see where this platform can take us in a very intentional way.In community, we are going to explore slow living (which I’m on a journey towards,) really thinking about mindful momprenuership (aka: Are we showing up intentionally? Are we supporting ourselves, our family and our schedule in the way we want to?) And in doing so, that also lends itself to this concept of feminine business/feminine marketing.Lastly, we will also be sharing our journey into familypreneurship, as we bring Collin full-time into the business and unschool our kids. Most often, you can expect to hear me hop on the mic and share my ahas from the day that fall into these categories of slow living, mindful mompreneurship and feminine marketing strategies and prompt you to do the same. Obviously there's a beautiful play on words with: “Tuning In,” as podcast studio owners, podcast producers, and a podcast host myself- so we’ll be hitting on those topics too.Ultimately, I really want to provide this community, this space for moms like me, who want to:* Do life differently* Have a positive growth mindset* Live slow* Follow their dreams and passions* To be around for the moments with their kids but also do what they love to do* Who want to support others and spread and share their messages* And who want to truly feel alive in the moments of their dayI would love to get to connect with you and to support you in community- head over to our Substack to get started. Thanks for reading!
