Blister beetle season is in full swing in Southern Arizona, with master blister beetles swarming at Catalina State Park. These bugs, known for their bright orange bodies and black wings, are feeding on brittlebush and weeds. Theyre harmless to humans unless touched, but can contaminate hay and pose a risk to horses. Another common type is the smaller iron-cross blister beetle. Keep your hands clean and enjoy the spectacle from a distance.
