Former Arizona Gun Dealer Faces Terrorism Charges for Allegedly Supplying Cartels

Laurence Gray, a 65-year-old from Hereford, Arizona, is now facing serious terrorism charges for allegedly providing firearms to Mexican cartels. The charges were upgraded on March 17th, 2023, with a new indictment including conspiracy to aid a designated terrorist organization. Gray, a former licensed gun shop owner, was first charged in 2025 for straw purchases and false statements in gun sales. Prosecutors claim he knowingly tried to deliver firearms to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel, both designated as foreign terrorist organizations by the U.S. government in February 2025. Each new charge carries up to 20 years in prison and fines of $250,000. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a broad push to fight border crime and transnational gangs.
