WEEK 3 -> The mindset of Adam
RECAP:
1 Cor 15:45-47 CSB *45
Why does Paul refer to Jesus as the last Adam?
- Adam was the first man created without a sin nature. The problem was that Adam willingly disobeyed God and brought sin into the world.
- Jesus is the "last Adam" in the sense that He was the last man who did not have a sin nature.
Big Idea: Everything happens twice, first in your mind and second in reality
The phrase "everything happens twice, first in your mind and second in reality" suggests that our mental processes, thoughts, beliefs, and intentions ultimately shape our actions and experiences.
Everything happens twice, first in your mind and second in reality
Today we’re talking about the mindset of adam.
- Mindset - a particular way of thinking.
- Through The Fall of mankind we inherited adam’s particular way of thinking.
Let’s return to Genesis 3:1-6
V6. “The woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; “
- Everything happens twice, first in your mind and second in reality
- SAW - hebrew “raw-aw' this means to see, look at, inspect, perceive, consider
- EVE HAD CONSIDERED THAT THE TREE WAS GOOD FOR FOOD- LUST OF THE FLESH
- EVE HAD CONSIDERED THAT THE TREE WAS DELIGHTFUL TO LOOK AT-LUST OF THE EYES
- EVE HAD CONSIDERED THAT THE TREE WAS A DESIRABLE WAY FOR HER TO OBTAIN GOD-LIKE WISDOM -THE PRIDE OF LIFE.
- SAW - hebrew “raw-aw' this means to see, look at, inspect, perceive, consider
ALL THAT WAS DONE FROM “THE SCENE OF THE CRIME” HER MIND!
REPEAT AFTER ME” “THE SCENE OF THE CRIME IS YOUR MIND”
- Everything happens twice, first in your mind and second in reality Your thoughts, beliefs, and intentions ultimately shape your actions and experiences.
- Adam and Eve are proof that if the enemy has your mind, he’ll have your heart, and your actions.
The mindset of Adam is your every thought, idea, evaluation, and any form of reasoning is done through the filter of pain, anxiety, fear, separation from a Holy God, Regret, Guilt and shame. Essentially you are spiritually blind by the darkness of sin.
