Show Notes
In this episode, we kick off our new series on The Beatitudes by diving into Matthew 5:1–3. Jesus begins His most famous sermon not with commands, but with a blessing—spoken over the kind of people the world often overlooks.
What does it mean to be “poor in spirit”? It’s not about financial lack, but spiritual humility—knowing we are completely dependent on God. Jesus uses the word makários to describe a present state of divine approval, not a future reward. You are already blessed—not because life is easy, but because your heart is turned toward Heaven.
We also connect this truth with Isaiah 57:15 and 66:2, showing how Jesus fulfills the prophetic vision of a God who draws near to the humble and contrite.
The Beatitudes are more than beautiful words—they are a blueprint for Kingdom living.
