Podcast: true faith Transfer Forum

E

true faith brings you the first ever transfer forum which was recorded live on Thursday 7/9/17. We pulled together the biggest names in North East football journalism to talk about Newcastle United, Rafa Benitez and much more. The night was in aid of the West End Food Bank which is responsible for providing free food for thousands of local people in need. We raised almost £2,500 from tickets sales (the event was a 170 ticket sell out)and kind donations from Mr Graeme Forster, Steve Wraith and Newcastle United. Rafa Benitez then personally topped the total up to £3000. The night itself was broken into three rounds looking at NUFC from the perspective of the transfer window, the manager and the ownership of the club. The recording is as good as we could get and is better in some places rather than others. As everyone on Thursday paid to attend the event, we are operating an 'honesty' box approach to the podcast. If you listen, it would be great if you could donate £5 to the foodank online or by text. £1 will help so please give whatever you can - £5 is half the cost of a ticket on the night! Please share the podcast where you can - it's a must listen to any nufc fans Donations Can be paid directly into the food bank bank account. Account Number: 00023623, Sort Code: 40-52-40 Cheques made out to the Newcastle West End Food Bank can be sent to:- Newcastle West End Food Bank, The Food Bank Centre, Benwell Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE15 6NG. Documentary - RESCUE: HOW TO SAVE A FOOTBALL CLUB (twice)

E

Welcome to the second podcast documentary by the true faith podcast. In the Summer of 1982 Newcastle United were preparing for a fifth straight season in the second division of English football. They hadn't realistically come close to promotion since relegation in 1978. The club had recorded back to back average attendances of below 20,000. Each season was the only season since 1903 (excluding war time) that the club attracted an average attendance of less than 20,000 fans. Enter Kevin Keegan. England international, two time Ballon d'Or winner. A city and a club reborn...... Winter 1992 and United are second bottom of the second division and in danger of falling into the third tier for the first time in the clubs history. Crowds of less than 16,000 are frequent at St James' Park and the club is facing bankruptcy if relegated. Enter Kevin Keegan.... This is a documentary aimed at finding out what was like with and without Kevin Keegan in the 1980's and early 1990's. How had the club who owned the FA Cup, the club of Super Mac and Joe Harvey fallen on such hard times? What was going to St James' like with no Leazes end? How much did the fans stick with Ardilles? How much does a play off defeat to Sunderland really hurt? We discuss all of this and more. Featured alongside match footage from the time are a selection of superb interviewees. Martin Hardy is an award winning author and journalist. His recent Newcastle United books are a must-own for any Newcastle United fan. Martin was a dedicated Newcastle United fan in the 1980's and tells us what is was like at St James' when Kevin Keegan made his debut and then just how Keven Keegan created one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Norman Riley is a true faith contributor and felt every beat of a football club and region still reeling from 80's decline in the early 90's. He provides an almost match by match account of the 91-93 season. Andrew is a long time podcast listener and was Newcastle United home and away as the club drifted towards division three. Marc Corby is one of the go-to voices on Newcastle United these days. His speciality subject is Newcastle United 1980-1994 - so his expert opinion was vital for this documentary and he once again delivered. ATMOSPHERE: A podcast documentary

E

ATMOSPHERE: A PODCAST DOCUMENTARY true faith bring you our first ever podcast documentary. Two months to write and record the end product is a discussion on atmosphere at St James' Park. We've spoken to seven mags whose match day experience cover the period 1946 to present day. We wanted to find out what exactly 'bringing back the noise' entailed. How much of the raucous St James' Park of years gone by is myth and how do we bring back what reality existed. Our guests are life long mags who describe through their memories and stories their experiences of St James' Park over the decades. Roughly each guest covers a decade whilst giving their thoughts on what is right or wrong with the atmosphere at St James' Park in the 21st century. However it's not all about noise and football fans. This documentary gives you a post-war history of Newcastle United from a supporter perspective. Our guests talk great games from United beating Spurs 7 2 in 1951, the cup final successes of the same decade, Fairs Cup success, Super Mac's debut, the League Cup Semi final of 74 against Spurs (again) and finally the greatest night in the modern history of Newcastle United when one of the great Barcelona sides were put to the sword at St James' Park in 1997. As well as noise, great games and support our guests touch on match day fashion in the 70's, relatives hitchhiking to Wembley (three times) in the 50's and stories about the time a club actually came close to taking the Leazes (but didn't). We owe this show to our guests who gave up their spare time on match days to speak to us for this documentary. Our guests appeared in the following order at the following times: Marc Corby 02 minutes 08 seconds - Late 80's to mid 90's @NUFC1980-1994 Mick Martin and Colin Whittle 17 minutes 28 seconds - 1970's @tfeditor1892 @nust Wallace Wilson 40 minutes - 1960's @WallaceHwilson George Mitchell 57 minutes - 1950's @GeorgeHGMitchell - 1950's Jim Foster 1 hour 18 minutes Stephen Ord 1 hour 24 minutes - 2000's @Smord84 Matty 1 hour 43 - Present Day @worhyem We hope you enjoy the show.
