The Cell Phone Murders /// Part 2 /// 785
EThe Cell Phone Murders /// Part 2 /// 785 Part 2 of 2 www.TrueCrimeGarage.com On September 25, 1996 just before midnight, a 911 call came into emergency services. A crying woman requested police and ambulance personnel to her home. She reported a lot of gunfire in her home with several people down. Within minutes, Police, Fire, and EMTs were on the scene. A young man covered in blood ran up to the responding Sheriff’s deputy saying “They shot them all, they shot them all.” The savage brutality of these murders is shocking. The 1996 Cell Phone Murders would be better described as a massacre. EThe Dartmouth Murders /// Part 2 /// 779 Part 2 of 2 www.TrueCrimeGarage.comThe 2001 homicides of two Dartmouth College professors completely shocked and rocked Hanover, New Hampshire to it's core. No one could imagine something like this happening in a town best known for being the home of an elite academic institution. Half and Susanne Zantop were both loved and very highly respected by students and faculty at the Dartmouth College. The Zantop’s bodies were found on a Saturday evening, inside their home by a friend, who had arrived as an invited dinner guest. The double homicide investigation that followed was headed up by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office. This was an “all hands on deck” situation with multiple law enforcement agencies working the case. The investigation went beyond state lines and tested both the college and the community. Brandon Cartellone ////// 777
EBrandon Cartellone ////// 777Part 1 of 1 www.TrueCrimeGarage.comOn July 26, 2011 - Brandon Cartellone was viciously killed. His body was found in his second floor apartment at approximately 1AM on July 27th. Brandon was just 21 years old. He was a successful Industrial Design student at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Brandon’s death continues to be an open wound that will not and cannot heal for the so many people who knew and loved him. The F.B.I. has taken over the case as it appears that the Cleveland Police Department either lacked the funding, the personnel, or both to conduct a thorough and proper murder investigation. Law Enforcement still needs your help. This is partially because of the rare nature of these types of crimes. Even amongst those who kill, many simply do not posses the ability to carry out such a horrific act. In Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona, those communities experienced three such murders in just a twelve month timeframe. The Twin Cities Weepy Killer /// Part 2 /// 772
EThe Twin Cities Weepy Killer /// Part 2 /// 772 Part 2 of 2 www.TrueCrimeGarage.com In the early 1980s a deadly man was stalking the women of the Twin Cities. He used different weapons and methods to kill his victims. Often after a kill, the act was followed by a phone call claiming responsibility for the murder. Why were these calls seemingly part of the killer’s M.O.? What purpose did they serve? Was it an act of remorse or just to taunt the protectors of these cities? Brian Shaffer Interview ////// 770
EBrian Shaffer Interview ////// 770Part 1 of 1 www.TrueCrimeGarage.com How did Brian Shaffer a 27 year-old man at the time just simply disappear? It's a question Columbus Police detectives and thousands from central Ohio have been asking for more than 18 years. Brian Shaffer, was a medical student at The Ohio State University. As legend has it; he walked into a campus bar and was never seen walking out. Brian vanished after going out with friends on the evening of March 31st, 2006 to celebrate the beginning of spring break. According to friends during the early morning hours of April 1st, Brian was separated from them, and they assumed he had gone home. Shaffer has not been seen or heard from since. Columbus police have several theories about what happened; some suspicion has been directed at a friend. While foul play is suspected, it has also been speculated that Brian might be living somewhere under a new identity. Today we bring to you an interview with Columbus Police Sergent John Hurst who was the lead investigator in the Shaffer case. Conducting the interview is the Captain and investigative journalist Maggie Freleng. ERobert Pickton /// Part 2 /// 769Part 2 of 2 www.TrueCrimeGarage.com This week we tell the tale of Robert Pickton, Canada’s most infamous serial killer. Robert Pickton was a pig farmer turned serial killer who hit it big with the sale of a large portion of the family farm. Instead of using his riches for good, he hosted drug and alcohol fueled parties on his disgusting farm at a place called “The Piggie Palace.” Around this same time women started to disappear from a seedy area of Vancouver, known as “The Low Track.” It took the police longer than it should have to learn that they had a problem, a big one. Some mysteries remain with this case. No one is certain how many people Pickton killed. It also would seem like he must have had some help along the way. Who else is responsible? EWest Memphis 3 /// Discussion Part 2 of 2 www.TrueCrimeGarage.comJoin Nic & The Captain in the Garage for a riveting and energy filled discussion about the West Memphis 3 case. This case and True Crime story continues to be one of the more debated cases of the 20th century, even after more than 30 years has passed. Why can’t we as a collective community move on from this case? Is it because the case manages to creep its way back into the headlines, over and over again? Or, is it because at the end of the day we are all afraid that we may never know the truth about what happened in Robin Hood Hills, on May 5th, 1993? A young woman who had been abducted the day before somehow managed to escape from her captor’s home. A motorist found the young woman on the side of the road. He took her to his home for both her protection and to call first responders for help. The woman described to detectives what the abductor had subjected her to over the last 22 hours. An abduction case was rare but perhaps the most startling detail of the woman’s story was that the man who had offered her a ride and then tortured her in his home, also drank the woman’s blood.
