Ilona Flint and Salvatore Belvedere were shot while sitting inside a parked car outside the Macy’s in Mission Valley California in the early hours of Dec. 24, 2013. Flint died at the scene while Salvatore sustained critical injuries and died a few days later. On Jan. 17, Gianni Belvedere, Salvatore’s brother, was discovered dead in the trunk of his own car about an hour and a half north of San Diego County. He, too, had been fatally shot, and his decomposing body was found with his pants and underwear around his ankles and his shirt and sweater pulled over his arms. There was speculation that this was a triple homicide related to illegal drug dealings. But sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.
