In this Spirit-filled message, we journey through the parable of the sower with a focus on the seed that fell among thorns: “And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them” (Matthew 13:7, NKJV). The Word of God is living and powerful, but Jesus warns of competing affections that suffocate its fruitfulness in our lives. This teaching explores:
- The Nature of the Thorns and Thistles — the cares of life, deceitfulness of riches, and pleasures that gradually choke the Word.
- The Choking Power of Worldly Distractions — how compromise and misplaced priorities drain our devotion.
- The Danger of Half-Yielded Ground — fertile soil mixed with weeds is still unfruitful soil.
- The Call to Cultivate Good Ground — through prayer, fasting, and holiness, we break up the fallow ground and yield fruit for God’s glory.
Saints, Jesus bore a crown of thorns so that we could wear the crown of life. Do not let the thorns of this world rob you of your fruitfulness in Christ.
