Australian music history comes full circle in this special episode as Mark "Cal" Callaghan from GANGgajang joins Triple M's Dangerous Dave and Gleeso to celebrate Sounds Of Then (This Is Australia) being crowned Number 1 in Triple M’s Most Played Countdown. More than four decades after its release, Sounds Of Then has once again captured the hearts of Australians, proving its enduring legacy as one of the most iconic songs in Australian music. Cal reflects on the unlikely, almost mystical origins of the track—written quickly, instinctively, and recorded on an early 8-track recorder in Kirribilli in 1982. In a remarkable full-circle moment, Cal shares that he is now house-sitting in the very same Sydney location where the demo was first recorded, looking out at the same block of flats that inspired a song which would go on to define a generation.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Dave Grohl joins Dangerous Dave on Triple M for a rare and revealing chat about Foo Fighters’ shock announcement - a one-night-only show in Launceston, Tasmania in January 2026. Grohl speaks candidly about the band’s long-running connection with Tasmania and why Australia always ends up at the centre of their plans, joking that “all roads lead to Australia.” From spontaneous studio conversations that turn into surprise tours, to the band deciding to “pop down for a gig,” Dave explains how this show came to be. He also gives fans a hilarious insight into the chaos of touring — including the time he flew back to Los Angeles between shows in Adelaide and Perth just so he could take his daughter to her school’s Daddy/Daughter Dance, before flying straight back to play a stadium.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
