Case Study: What Does Food Freedom Look like in Autoimmune Disease?
We’re exploring the topic of food freedom today alongside Dr. Maggie Yu and Frankie Niwot, the functional nutritionist of the Transform Autoimmune Disease Naturally eight-week program. Joining them is Nisa, a student of the program who graduated about six months ago. Before starting the program, Nisa thought she had various allergy issues. She had fired her allergist and started an autoimmune protocol which worked great but wasn’t sustainable. By the time she contacted Dr. Yu she was hungry, at her wit’s end, and looking for answers. Frankie curiously asks Nisa what the most important change regarding food was that happened during the program. Nisa answers that in contrast to previous allergy tests that she had done which indicated she had no allergies, the tests in the program revealed some intolerances. This helped her identify foods that she could and couldn’t eat, allowing her to confidently add some foods back to her diet. A surprising piece of knowledge she gained was that she was allergic to fruit sugar but not fruit itself. Thanks to the food freedom that she has because of Dr. Yu’s program, Nisa is able to try new things. She is more creative when preparing meals and has come up with some awesome recipes that her kids love. Lisa is excited that she can go out to certain restaurants and doesn’t feel like she is chained to her house anymore. Nisa recalls that her eczema was horrible before the program, and she was too self-conscious to wear shorts or dresses that showed her legs. The eczema has entirely cleared, and another benefit Nisa has gotten from the program is the ability to concentrate again. We then hear about Nisa’s enjoyment of communicating with other people going through the program at the same time. When asked about her return on investment, Nisa says that the program was so worth it. She would do it all over again and would not be where she is today if she did not make a commitment to the program. Case Study: No More Psoriasis Creams for the Pharmacist
In this episode, Dr. Maggie Yu and Frankie Niwot discuss turning around psoriasis very quickly by addressing root causes. A recent graduate from the Transform Autoimmune Disease Naturally program, Amanda, is welcomed to share her experience of the program. Amanda has been a pharmacist for over twenty years and had been dealing with psoriasis for over fifteen. She had also been suffering from irritable bowel syndrome for as long as she can remember, but the symptoms worsened greatly this past summer. That’s when Amanda went to a doctor who wanted to prescribe mega-dose antibiotics, which she rejected. After searching for a solution, she discovered Dr. Yu’s program and enrolled after some slight hesitation. Dr. Yu tells us that many people don’t know that psoriasis is an autoimmune disease, and that this is the case for many other diseases too. With this is mind, Dr. Yu asks Amanda to look back and determine how many years she had really been suffering with autoimmune disease. Amanda says that it’s been over thirty years, starting as early as high school. Today, just two months after enrolling in the eight-week program, Amanda is happy to report that she no longer has the itching or crusting from psoriasis. She recalls that her symptoms subsided after three weeks of starting the program. After getting her food intolerance test results and eliminating the foods she was highly sensitive to, Amanda’s psoriasis went away. Amanda also had hormonal symptoms that she didn’t even expect to be addressed in Dr. Yu’s program such as insomnia and brain fog, which turned out to be helped greatly. Another big issue that Amanda discovered through the program was her blood sugar imbalance. Now that she is informed about its importance, Amanda is able to prepare her food so that she doesn’t crash during the afternoon. Continuing on, we hear Amanda’s thoughts about this not being a doctor-and-patient program, but rather an educational program that also has individual treatment. This allowed Amanda to learn about blood sugar management in a way that she can utilize daily. Dr. Yu jumps in to provide her opinion about the current medical care system not facilitating the education of patients. Now that she is not spending countless hours searching for a solution to her psoriasis, Amanda remarks that she has time to do the things she enjoys like yoga and spending time with her husband. She reflects on the way she used to spend time with him, which involved her not being really present with her mind somewhere else. Amanda’s children have autoimmune disease as well and she asserts that she would love for them to enter Dr. Yu’s program someday. Amanda is asked about her experience in interacting with the community within Dr. Yu’s program, and she answers that this was a very important aspect. She describes the weekly group calls as being like a family meeting where everyone could share their problems. Amanda enjoyed being a fly on the wall and learning from other people’s situations. According to Amanda, Dr. Yu’s program embodies true healthcare. She hopes that as more people use this program and learn how to heal themselves, big insurance will begin to take notice. Case Study: The Biggest Lie Your Doctors Believe About Autoimmune Disease
Today, Dr. Maggie Yu is going to bust the biggest lie that your doctors believe about autoimmune disease. Kim is welcomed to this episode and is a recent graduate of Dr. Yu’s Transform Autoimmune Disease Naturally program. We’re going to use her case as an example of how when your doctors believe in a lie, you are going to receive the downstream effect. Kim is a teacher who was diagnosed with Lupus about eight years ago. Soon after, fibromyalgia and Sjogren’s followed along with Kim losing a part of her thyroid to a possibly cancerous cyst. She was experiencing fatigue, brain fog, and pain, making her life very difficult. Kim felt like this was what her life was going to be forever. The biggest lie that doctors believe about autoimmune disease is introduced: there is no cause to effect; conventional doctors believe that there are just symptoms. Kim says that the symptoms she experienced over the last few years had stopped her life in its tracks. She had received a promotion at work, but eventually chose to step down because she felt she could not perform. Kim also speaks to the sense of guilt she had from being forced to save her energy when visiting family. We then hear about all of the treatments that Kim has been exposed to by her doctors, including one medication that caused her to gain seventy pounds. She then reveals the amount of money she spent on these treatments. Having now been through Dr. Yu’s program, Kim is confident that she knows the causes of her pain. She says that blood sugar is the biggest contributor and that no doctor has ever mentioned that this could be linked to her pain. Another cause of Kim’s pain was gluten and she tells a story about a time when she was eating at a restaurant and began feeling pain before even exiting the building. Now that she is armed with knowledge of the causes and effects, she has a choice in if she wants to feel the pain for not. Kim also talks about the nutrient deficiencies she discovered while enrolled in the program. Dr. Yu inquires about Kim’s pain level now compared to before the program, with Kim answering that it used to be an average of five but is now zero. She shares some success stories she has heard about from other people in the program and goes back into discussing the causes of her pain. Kim says that she doesn’t know of any other causes but because she has such severe hormone deficiencies, she is looking forward to finding out more about them and erasing other disrupters of her health. She is happy to say that she can only imagine what life will be like once she gets on top of these. Dr. Yu then provides her insight on the connection between hormone imbalances and pain. Being able to interact more meaningfully with her students, Kim says that she cannot place a dollar amount on what she has gotten out of Dr. Yu’s program. In years past, she would have to explain to her students what lupus was so that they would understand why Kim would be unable to recall their names sometimes. This year, Kim says that her students don’t even know what lupus is. The post Case Study: The Biggest Lie Your Doctors Believe About Autoimmune Disease first appeared on Dr Maggie Yu IFMCP.

Case Study: Child with autoimmune. How to know when to get off the specialist train and into the pilot’s seat!
Our topic for this episode is being lost and confused as a parent whose child has autoimmune disease. Feeling like this can be so isolating, so Dr. Yu and the Jones family discuss how this can be rectified. Celina and Keith Jones have been dealing with their child, Blaze, who was diagnosed with PANDAS about eight months ago. Blaze had suddenly began developing severe obsessive-compulsive disorders, ticks, and anxiety. Because of these practically overnight changes, Celina says that Blaze seemed like a different person; it was as if he became autistic. Both parents were lost about what they should do to get their son back. Every night, Blaze when go into hysterics and ask his mother, “why is this happening to me?” Celina describes having to tell him that she didn’t know the answer as the hardest thing to do as a parent. The couple had discovered PANDAS online after searching about sudden onset OCD and brought it to their pediatrician’s attention the next day. They then brought Blaze to see a PANDAS specialist, but his parents liken these interactions to a guessing game. The specialist would ask them to try certain things, but Celina and Keith were scared because every suggestion had caused their son to flare. The parents believed that the treatments were making him worse, so they decided to stop doing this trial-and-error. The conventional, regular approach wasn’t getting to the root of the problem, which led the worried parents to discover and contact Dr. Yu. The Jones family has just graduated Dr. Yu’s eight-week program. She says she doesn’t feel anything strange anymore, and that six weeks into the program there was still a lingering tick. Now, two weeks later, that tick is gone. Keith says that the anxiety and OCD flare ups went away quite quickly when the program began thanks to dietary changes. He talks about how Blaze used to get very anxious around anyone who seemed sick, but that too subsided early on in his son’s program enrollment. Before the program, Celina would have to quarantine her other children when they got sick because it made her so afraid. Dr. Yu asks the family if they would have, eight weeks ago, believed that these outcomes were going to happen, to which they quickly respond “no.” Keith says that after having letdown after letdown in trying to cure his son, he made sure not to let his hopes get too high. After seeing one of Dr. Yu’s posts on Facebook about fixing the root cause, Celina and Keith knew that they had to at least try. Still, they were cautious. The couple says that they spent thousands of dollars on trying to heal their son before joining Dr. Yu’s program. A major, root issue discovered in the program was Blaze’s leaky gut, which no one had addressed prior. Keith states that it is a no-brainer that Dr. Yu’s program was the best option for his son. He wishes that he pursued this program first so that they didn’t spend so much money on conventional treatments that were getting his son no results. He believes that even if he and Celina had paid twice as much for Dr. Yu’s autoimmune program, it would still be worth it to see their son happy and healthy. Case Study: How one physician and his wife with Fibro turned around autoimmunity together.
Gina and her husband, Gus, join Dr. Maggie Yu in this episode to talk about how autoimmune disease can make you feel crazy, but also how it is possible to move from craziness to joy. Gina just graduated from Dr. Yu's eight-week program for naturally transforming autoimmune disease. Prior to beginning the program, Gina was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and an elevated CRP level. She came into the program very lethargic, often waking up in the morning feeling like she hadn’t slept at all. She was affected by bloating, weight gain, irritability, bad PMS, and headaches. Finally, she decided it was time to figure out what to do, which led her to Dr. Yu’s Transform Autoimmune program. Gus, who is a physician, talks about how seeing Gina was particularly difficult from his standpoint. He saw other physicians running tests repeatedly on Gina without providing any positive outcomes. He mentions how doctors would prescribe her different medications in pill-form, which was unreasonable because Gina often didn’t even have the strength to swallow these. Gina adds that the doctors never got to the root of her problems. She likened the pills that were prescribed to her as being just a bandage. Dr. Yu talks about how sometimes traditional physicians are thought to be uncaring because they just prescribe medications but understands that that’s just how they are trained. Dr. Yu asks what findings in the program surprised Gina, who answers with her hormone and Candida issues. She also says that going gluten free because of what she discovered in the program has been a game changer. Gina had previously tried the AIP diet, which is often recommended for people with autoimmune disease, but the Transform Autoimmune program taught her that this is not effective for her. The program’s food mapping determined that she was actually allowed to eat certain foods that she had been restricted from on that diet. Gina goes further into detail about how her food mapping uncovered that most of her issues with eating were caused by an infection, not by intolerance. Gina’s hormone results showed that she had a ridiculously high amount of both estrogen and testosterone, and she felt a sense of relief from these results because she now had something to attribute her symptoms to. Since fixing her hormones, she says that she is sleeping better and losing weight. Gina’s face inflammation is coming down, and she can even start wearing her wedding rings again. She feels revitalized and full of energy. Gina used to take naps regularly, but states that she hasn’t taken one in six weeks. She had a moment of realization this week where she was so happy about feeling good for the first time in years, and proclaims that she finally has normal days like a normal person. In the program, Gina loved feeling the accountability that came from having regular group calls with other people in the program. They could relate to her pain and anxiety, and everyone learned from each other. She declares that if the program didn’t have a group aspect, she’s not sure if she would have gotten the same results. Gina says that now, her life has been changed forever. The post Case Study: How one physician and his wife with Fibro turned around autoimmunity together. first appeared on Dr Maggie Yu IFMCP.

Floating for Pain, Wellness, and Rewiring
Dr. Maggie Yu wants to talk about floating today, as she has recently experienced this modality for the first time. Joining this discussion is Dana Highfill, who is the owner of Float North. A massage therapist by trade, Dana’s first float was seven years ago and it was life-changing for her. It became obvious to her that float therapy is a way to help people who need it the most. If you’re in physical, mental, or emotional pain, Dana believes that floating is an amazing way to address those issues. So, what is floating? It involves a 4’x8’ pod that is filled with about 10 inches of a solution that is mostly liquid magnesium. This solution is heated to your skin temperature, and the tub is soundproof and lightproof. Dana explains that this gives no input to the nervous system while you are held weightlessly in the solution. One tub can contain a thousand pounds of salt, so Dr. Yu asks Dana how this is possible in a relatively small tub. We continue on by learning about the health benefits of magnesium and the effectiveness of absorbing it through the skin versus consuming it, one of the biggest being its hydrating power. Dana says that magnesium is a calming mineral that relaxes her while floating and is used to treat conditions such as ADHD. She then reveals the main reason that motivates people to float and talks about the instant satisfaction they obtain. Floating can rewire the pathways in your brain; Dana describes this sensation as changing things on every level. She says that it increases proprioception and interoception and educates us on what these are. While floating, Dana can even feel if her organs are a little bit off because she is so in-tune with her body. Dr. Yu then provides her own anecdote on being aware of her chronic back pain while in the magnesium. Dana’s stance is that the way to optimize yourself is to get in touch with your body and be present. Stating this leads Dr. Yu into talking about re-establishing her own presence. Dana is asked why she is helping people with floating and proceeds to take us back to her early days as an industrial designer. She went to school in New York City, got a job right out of college, and was miserable from working so much. In 2006, Dana got laid off and says this was the best thing ever because it made her decide to change her life. She decided to become a massage therapist so that she could meditate while she worked and fulfill her love of helping people be their best. Wanting to help more than one person at a time, she decided to get into float therapy. As soon as her first float finished, Dana knew she would open a float center someday. Now, the dream is finally real. Community is key in Dana’s business. She says that five volunteers help out with the business and she has a beautiful relationship with them, along with the massage therapists that work there. Dana sees this setup as taking capitalism and making it community instead. This is a movement for Dana and across humanity. Dana’s belief is that humans are not individuals, but rather a single organism. We finish this episode by learning about Dr. Yu’s improved sleep since starting to float and Dana’s comments on these results. Case Study: What Works Even Better Than Stem Cell Therapy in Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Mikki, who graduated from the Transform Autoimmune Disease Naturally program roughly a month ago, sits down with Dr. Yu in this episode. She is a busy mom and executive who has been dealing with rheumatoid arthritis and colitis for a long time. A lot of today’s discussion revolves around dealing with the pain that comes from autoimmune disease and what can be done about it. Mikki says that before enrolling in Dr. Yu’s program, on a pain scale of one to ten, her day-to-day pain was a twenty. She called Dr. Yu in tears because she thought she had tried everything. Mikki goes through the list of things she has done in an attempt to ease her pain, which includes elimination diets, embryonic stem cell treatment, and biomagnetism. If it’s out there, she has tried it. When she first called Dr. Yu, Mikki was in so much pain that she could hardly even move her wrist and had to wear braces. We hear that Mikki’s pain level is now at a four or five, and she admits it’s not as low as it could be because she is not as disciplined as she should be. Mikki knows what her triggers are now because of the food mapping component of Dr. Yu’s program, but she still sometimes chooses to eat those foods. She says that it’s no longer a guessing game of what will bring her pain, rather she knows the exact sources. The food mapping was a major linchpin that helped reduce Mikki’s pain level to where it is today. She then reveals why food mapping helped in ways that elimination diets could not. It took Mikki about ten days of enrollment in the program to get out of the braces that she was wearing to slightly reduce her pain. She learned in the program that she shouldn’t be eating gluten and went through withdrawals when halting her consumption of it. Mikki reflects upon a call with Dr. Yu during these withdrawals in which she received motivation to keep moving in the right direction. Mikki loved the support given to her from Dr. Yu, in addition to support received from other members who were going through the program. For the first time, she felt like she was talking to people she could relate to. Dr. Yu asks Mikki to comment on how the program trained her to have conversations with her gastroenterology doctor. Mikki proceeds to talk about becoming prepared via being armed with the proper information. This was great for Mikki because, prior to her enrollment, she was so confused with all of the conflicting information available online about dealing with autoimmune disease. She recalls how she didn’t believe Dr. Yu’s video when she first saw it but is thankful that her feelings of desperation led her to make the call. Mikki asserts that no other treatments were even running the right tests on her and tells us about how brushing her teeth one morning made her realize the program was working. Mikki now passionately tells everyone she knows that they have got to call Dr. Yu. She says that she is speaking from her heart and that doing this interview was not easy for her. Mikki feels like this program has been a gift to her that she has to share. Case Study: Hashimoto’s and RA. How Shelley Went from Pain of 10 to 0
Today, we’re going to find out how Shelley lost forty-one pounds and eliminated her pain from rheumatoid arthritis in just ten short weeks. In addition to RA, she was also previously diagnosed with Hashimoto’s. Shelley graduated two weeks ago from Dr. Maggie Yu’s Transform Autoimmune Disease Naturally program. Before she joined, she would often cry, was exhausted, and was so cranky that she recalls yelling at people for practically no reason. Her pain was everywhere, and after seeing her friend post a video about Dr. Yu’s program, Shelley knew she had to take the next step. Now, having completed the program, Shelley is on her lowest dose of medication since her initial diagnosis, is at a much healthier weight, and is more active. She comments on how weight loss is not even the main reason she joined the program but is a fantastic side-effect. Shelley says that her biggest motivator to reach out to Dr. Yu was that she was afraid of the medications doing more harm than good. A key point for Shelley that had previously not been addressed through conventional medical practices was her high estrogen level. She claims that no one had mentioned to her the role of estrogen in her pain. Shelley was told that her levels were fine based on a hormone test she had done right before joining Dr. Yu’s program. She also describes her blood sugar as having been off-the-charts before balancing it during the program. Shelley says that she had never been tested for things such as hormones or food intolerance before this program, and Dr. Yu interjects by saying that that’s because conventional doctors think these don’t matter. Shifting the discussion to mood changes, Shelley says she is now able to sleep at night because she is not hurting and goes for a two-mile walk every day. Shelley’s husband said a few weeks ago that it was so nice to be using the kitchen together again; a substantial change from when Shelley was unable to cook, push a vacuum, or use a lawnmower. These adjustments have been life-changing for Shelley because she had previously been focused on taking care of those around her instead of herself. She loved taking the last couple of months to focus on herself because she has never done that before. Shelley then states that in a few more weeks she plans to stop her medication completely. Dr. Yu asks Shelley how important being involved in a community of people going through the program was to her success, with Shelley answering that it was absolutely enormous. She comments on how the other members welcomed her so warmly that it made her feel like she was already in the group for a year. We then hear about Shelley’s first trip to her doctor after losing weight, which leads into a conversation about why working with Dr. Yu online is superior. Regarding the cost of the program, Shelley proclaims that she doesn’t think the program is expensive. She has gotten more information from Dr. Yu and her program in eight weeks than she had in over twenty years of conventional treatments. Shelley says that she would spend it all again if she had even though she’s not particularly wealthy. She agrees that the most expensive decision you can make is to stay sick. Case Study: How This One Habit Is Destroying People with Autoimmunity
Lynie, a recent graduate of Dr. Maggie Yu’s Transform Autoimmune Disease Naturally eight-week program, joins us in this episode. She has suffered with rheumatoid arthritis since she was twenty-one, and in the past couple of years, Lynie was in so much pain that she was reaching out for anything and everything that could help her. The top symptoms that Lynie had from RA were deformity and extreme pain. She could barely get out of bed and couldn’t even dress herself. It had gotten so bad that her husband had turned into her caretaker. She was also suffering from psoriasis lesions on her ankles and knees. Since graduating from Dr. Yu’s program two months ago, the skin lesions are completely gone, and her arthritis pain happens very seldomly. Lynie remarks that the program taught her how her blood sugar and gluten were the biggest causes of her pain. Dr. Yu asks Lynie what the number-one catalyst was that brought her immense pain, and she answers that it was a combination of drinking a morning coffee daily and then not eating anything until lunch time. Following this, Dr. Yu and Lynie run through the cycle that was brought on by these unhealthy habits every day. We then learn about Lynie’s new morning routine which is greatly credited to her improved health, along with other positive outcomes that the program provided. Lynie’s husband is so happy to have his wife back. She proclaims that she can’t say enough about Dr. Yu’s program because it has completely changed her world. Lynie labels enrolling in the program as the best decision she has ever made. The post Case Study: How This One Habit Is Destroying People with Autoimmunity first appeared on Dr Maggie Yu IFMCP.

Case Study: 30 Years of Lupus and How Christina Is Changing It
We’re focusing today on how someone who has had lupus for thirty years can turn it around. Christina, with the help of Dr. Maggie Yu’s Transform Autoimmune Disease Naturally program, has overcome this lengthy struggle in just eight weeks. Since she was twelve-years-old, Christina has had lupus symptoms and eventually got diagnosed with the disease at age sixteen. She went through several doctors and medications in her life and felt that the lupus had begun to go into remission. Christina collected a few more diagnoses, including Sjogren's syndrome, and about three years ago she suddenly had trouble swallowing. One day, she felt like she couldn’t swallow and all and had to go on an all liquid diet. Some treatments allowed her to eat food again, but even so, her options were limited; she would often eat just a plain baked potato when out to supper with her husband. Because she has graduated from Dr. Yu’s program, Christina says that she now wakes up feeling like she is rested. Sleep has been an issue for years, but Christina recalls that she saw a change just two weeks into the program. It was revealed to Christina that her low blood sugar was interrupting her sleep, and further testing showed that she had nutrient deficiencies. Dr. Yu says that Christina learned how to interpret lab tests accurately and how to fix the causes. Christina cites the food mapping aspect of the program as being a key to targeting her gastroparesis symptoms. She learned that she cannot eat dairy or gluten and believes that her inflammation has gone down. Christina also had the realization that she can start eating dinner with her family again and not be up all night with an upset stomach. She recently went out for an anniversary dinner with her husband and tells us what she got to eat. Another big revelation Christina had was that her thyroid cysts were not normal. She talks about how she hasn’t mentioned them in any of her other recent treatments because she was told years ago that they are normal. Part of the reason Christina found this out in the program was because of the group calls that take place, leading Dr. Yu to ask Christina what she thinks of the program’s group dynamic. Christina describes it as a hyper-learning environment because looking in on other people’s lab results allows for better absorption of the material. In her decades of dealing with lupus, Christina had never made the connection between this disease and her hormones. It was interesting to find out that her hormones were not normal, though somewhat borderline. However, it turned out that the blood sugar and nutrient deficiencies she was having were actually balancing everything out. Christina mentions that during the second half of her cycle, she would have huge energy drops and her sleep would get even worse. Christina asserts that everyone else in the program is also getting great results. We then hear what Christina learned about how autoimmune disease can be passed on to kids, and what she is doing to stay on top of the situation. To anybody who is on the fence about joining the program, Christina says there is absolutely no other place you can go where you can spend over two hours a week talking to your doctor. She is glad to share her experience to encourage others to get the help they need. The post Case Study: 30 Years of Lupus and How Christina Is Changing It first appeared on Dr Maggie Yu IFMCP.

Case Study: Why do hormones matter so much in autoimmune conditions and how do you master it?
Dr. Maggie Yu is speaking with Leslie Savage today. She is a registered nurse who has struggled with rheumatoid arthritis and hormonal issues, but is now in her final week of Dr. Yu’s Transform Autoimmune Disease Naturally program. Leslie has had to deal with a lot of pain issues. She was going to her chiropractor three to four times a week just to be able to keep working her job. After being referred to a rheumatologist, she was diagnosed with RA. Leslie was offered medication that would suppress her immune system, but because of the many germs in her workplace, she opted to not take them. She felt like this was going to be a career-ending diagnosis. Every day, Leslie would dread going to work because even something as simple as writing was difficult for her. During the first week of being enrolled in Dr. Yu’s program, Leslie was already feeling better. She regained the ability to sleep and her gut issues were already starting to clear up because of the dietary changes that were recommended to her. By week four, Leslie had even picked up a second job. She says that she hasn’t felt like this since she was in her twenties. Before starting the program, besides work, even just living day-to-day life was difficult for Leslie. Her husband even had to help her get dressed because of the pain and agony Leslie was constantly experiencing. She was in a place, mentally, that nobody wants to go. Leslie says that she experienced depression from thinking what the future would hold because each day brought a new symptom to her. Dr. Yu asks Leslie if she thinks she would have gotten these current results had she gone the rheumatologist route. Leslie says that she wouldn’t have and proceeds to talk about someone she knows who also has RA and is getting treated in the conventional way. She says that she is able to share her outcome because it is real, and she lives it every day. She no longer dreads getting out of bed because of the pain and has become more active. Additionally, she is eating healthier than she ever has before. Leslie comments on how there are many components of Dr. Yu’s program that helped her get to where she is now, but if she had to pick the biggest one, it would be hormone-related. The testing that Leslie was subject to revealed her problems with the custom data it provided. Now, she is taking the proper supplements and applauds how Dr. Yu doesn’t promote making meals out of supplements. Leslie then discusses how the data she received was custom to her, and that while a “magic supplement” may exist, it will surely be different from person to person. Dr. Yu provides insight regarding how many people have autoimmune diseases that are not detectable by conventional blood tests. In the process of learning in a group setting, a vast amount of knowledge was received by Leslie about various hormonal patterns. Leslie says that the best part is that if anything changes with her hormones in the future, she will know what to do. She states that she is very happy with the Transform Autoimmune Disease Naturally program because it’s not just today that she feels good, it’s the future too. For anyone who is not sure if they should enroll in Dr. Yu’s program, Leslie insists that you remember that you are worth it. She wishes everyone with autoimmune disease would take part in Dr. Yu’s program. Case Study: How Elaine with Hashimoto’s figured out how to walk and dance again.
Elaine has just graduated from Dr. Maggie’s eight-week online program that transforms autoimmune disease naturally. The past year has been a terrible downward spiral for Elaine’s health. It all began about two and a half years ago when she began the onset of sciatica and back pain, which then grew into a whole different creature. An MRI showed Elaine that she had some spinal issues, but no doctors could figure out the pain associated with them. She became bed ridden and her pain soon spread to her entire body. She went to Johns Hopkins Hospital, one of the most renowned in the world, but even that team of skilled doctors could not figure out Elaine’s issues. Having gone through the program, Elaine is now capable of determining the cause-and-effect relationships that the doctors could not. The program identified that she had severe hormone imbalances along with some vitamin issues, as well as not actually having the gut problems she thought she did. Elaine talks about how she had to change her mindset to break what she describes as a “pain cycle,” and Dr. Yu comments on how Elaine originally thought she was destined to be sick forever. We hear about the activities that Elaine now does that she was unable to do eight weeks ago, with the first being that she drove herself to the grocery store this week for the first time in a year. She also cooks for her family regularly, another activity that she hasn’t done in a year. Elaine spent many days alone in bed when her husband would have to go to work, but now, she says she is never alone because she has realized the importance of having support from the community around her. She always has somebody keeping her company, whether it be at home or when she is out and about. Dr. Maggie asks what helped Elaine become decisive about jumping into the program and committing to make a change. Elaine answers by saying that the personalization of the program greatly encouraged her. She had researched other programs online that seemed to apply the same remedies to everyone, but she knew that she had to do something that was unique to her. She says that her husband proclaims he would have paid more than 10x for the program had he known that his wife would achieve these results. Interaction with other people in the program is a vital aspect of it, so Elaine discusses how much this community has encouraged and motivated her. She comments on how the other members of the community are in the same situation as her and see the same results. Elaine asserts that her results are typical of everyone else who commits to the program for eight weeks. Ironically, Elaine had convinced herself before starting the program that she was going to be the worst case that Dr. Yu ever saw and that the program wouldn’t be able to help. Elaine says that her family is getting her back. She can sit next to her husband at church, and her son can see her as he plays guitar on stage. Dr. Maggie thanks Elaine for sharing her story, but Elaine reiterates that Dr. Yu is not half as thankful as her for being able to live again. Case Study: Children with PANDAS, gut issues, tics, psychiatric issues can’t be helped right?
Kate Byars is here to talk about her son, Eli, going through the Transform Autoimmune Disease Naturally program. Eli started showing symptoms of PANDAS about a year ago, and after a bit of a journey, Kate eventually found Dr. Yu because he wasn’t getting the help that he needed from regular doctors. Dr. Yu inquires about what life was like for Kate and her family a year ago. Kate recalls that before she ever saw the ticks of PANDAS in Eli, she saw the behavior without realizing it was a sign of the disease. Kate admits that she was dismissive about the behavior, attributing it to Eli just being a temperamental little boy. He would have trouble self-regulating his anger, being unable to get rid of it. The more it escalated, the more difficult it was for the family to deal with. After noticing ticks, Kate took Eli to a local pediatrician who works with a lot of children with PANDAS and is known for her success with them. The doctor said to give Eli some fish oil and vitamin D, and provided a prescription for antibiotics if things got any worse. Kate felt unfulfilled with this advice and was expecting a little bit more. She then discusses how Eli’s ticks continued to escalate from visual ones to auditory ones. Eli had always been a social child who thrived while around others, but he was wanting to do less because he was embarrassed by his ticks. Eli completed Dr. Yu's program about two months ago. Kate says that his anger and ticks are completely gone, and that about three weeks into the program he had changed drastically. Kate describes how Eli woke up one day and asked her, “mom, do you see how happy I am now? Do you notice I don’t get mad anymore?” This was the moment that made Scott, Kate’s husband, a firm believer of the program. Kate reflects on how before working with Dr. Yu, she found herself asking if she was doing enough for her son. It felt like she was playing a guessing game with what supplements, dosages, and so on to give to Eli. She chose to work with Dr. Yu because her program is a data game, not a guessing game. Dr. Yu comments on elimination diets being counterproductive for kids because it can be so hard to get them to eat anything in the first place. Before entering Dr. Yu’s program, Kate wanted Eli to be able to eat the foods that he likes, but had to restrict his diet because of false information. The pediatrician had told Kate what to do, but not why to do it. She wanted to understand so she could help Eli as best as she possibly could. Dr. Yu provides insight to the rinse-and-repeat cycle that traditional doctors are trained to do with their patients and says that there is no step within it that provides the patient with knowledge to pursue mastery of autoimmune disease. Kate wanted to give her son optimal health and knew that she wasn’t going to get it by giving him antibiotics for his whole life. When asked if the investment of time and money was worth the results, Kate firmly believes it was because her son’s health was at stake. She says that she and her husband would invest five times as much for these results. With the data Kate was provided, she knows exactly what to do, exactly what Eli needs, and loves that Dr. Yu is there every step of the way to answer their questions. Case Study: Brain fog and ADD symptoms turned around in Autoimmune
Today’s topic is brain fog. Brain fog is a serious issue in autoimmune disease, and its impact is devastating. There’s also a focus on the link between ADD/ADHD and autoimmune disease. Dawn is welcomed to this episode to discuss how these have affected her life and what the program has done for her. Dawn is a recent graduate of Dr. Maggie Yu's program and has four children aged sixteen to twenty-two, three of which have ADD. When talking about the problems that she experienced before entering the program, Dawn says that she herself was diagnosed with ADD at the age of twenty-three. As she grew more, she was diagnosed with endometriosis, thyroid problems, and Hashimoto’s. Dawn’s marriage, life, and career were falling apart. She then received even more diagnoses, including chronic fatigue syndrome and lupus. Dr. Maggie asks Dawn how much of an impact brain fog had on her life, and Dawn immediately says it was horrible. Once upon a time she was able to stay on top of everything, but that turned into not being able to complete sentences nor remember important conversations. She continued upping her dose of ADD meds to the point where she was taking them just to function. Dawn says that just four weeks into Dr. Yu's eight-week program she was off all medications. She proclaims that she sleeps wonderfully at night and has no more pain. Without brain fog, Dawn says that she now feels free and has a sharp mind. Even though her symptoms had drastically improved at the end of the eight weeks, she says that they continue to get even better. Around week six, Dawn found herself thinking “this is great! How could it get any better?” After seeing the results still improving each week, Dawn knows that her life will continue to improve. Her sleep keeps becoming more refreshing and she continues to progress towards a healthier weight. Dr. Maggie asks Dawn what the secrets were that she learned about herself in the eight weeks that caused her to turn around her ADD symptoms. She says that there are many aspects, but the one she believes has had the most impact was repairing her low blood sugar. Fixing this issue that got identified in the program allowed her to directly remedy the source of her brain fog. Dawn also comments on how there were so many things wrong with her hormone imbalances beforehand, despite doctors not identifying these issues during the many years that Dawn had been visiting them. When Dawn began a paleo diet over two years ago, it did make a huge difference on her symptoms. She thought she was just one tweak away from perfection. She had been consuming a lot of almonds with this diet, as it recommends, but the food mapping process of Dr. Yu’s program led her to find out that almonds are actually one of her worst allergens. Dr. Maggie talks about how this is a major issue with one-size-fits-all solutions. Dawn expresses that she can’t put a figure on what the program has done for her family and her life. She declares that the program has given her life back to her, and that she can now utilize the skills she learned in the program to help her kids and improve their lives too. Case Study: Physician’s Wife with Hashimoto’s, Lyme, Celiac and early UC. Think you’ve tried everything?
Today we’re going to talk about thinking you’ve tried everything to cure autoimmune disease. When Dr. Yu has phone calls with people who want to join her eight-week program, they often feel this way. Jenna joins in on this episode because she felt the same way before graduating from Dr. Maggie’s natural healing program. Jenna has two kids and an intense job on top of dealing with autoimmune disease for the past ten years. She has been diagnosed with celiac disease, Hashimoto’s, Lyme disease, and more. Prior to joining the program, Jenna says that she was extremely fatigued all the time. She was totally overwhelmed with life and was barely making it through her days. Dr. Yu instructs Jenna to list everything she has tried to get over her autoimmune diseases. Jenna has done tons of testing, visited many different doctors, been on special diets, taken lots of various supplements, worked with a nutritionist in a group and one-on-one, and completed an online course. In hindsight, now having graduated from Dr. Maggie’s program, Jenna states that she definitely had not tried everything. She says that maybe the single most advantageous attribute of Dr. Yu's program is that it contains a systematic plan. Inside of the simple, succinct plan, Jenna loved the abundance of education it provided. The amount of time spent understanding autoimmune disease via an expert team was life-changing for Jenna. Dr. Maggie asks why her program is so different from the previous one that Jenna had participated in, with Jenna affirming that the quality and quantity of the information is vastly different. Her graduation date being a couple of weeks ago, Jenna talks about what outcomes she has experienced since. She declares that she now has sustained energy like she had decades ago. No longer does she face brain fog and gastrointestinal issues daily. Part of Jenna’s job is marketing, so she feels that this new outlook on life positively affects her creative abilities and helps her to perform better. Jenna still has ups and downs, but now when she feels a down, she knows what’s triggering it and how to get back on track right away. Furthermore, she has much more freedom to eat foods that she loves than she thought. Jenna was even about to go on an extremely limiting, likely unsustainable diet, but Dr. Yu's program has let her avoid doing so. Jenna was seeing and is continuing to see a great doctor, and Dr. Maggie asks about what their relationship is like despite that physician not providing the results that Jenna desired. Jenna takes part of the blame, as she says she didn’t understand some of the recommendations she received. Her doctor would take a full hour to sit down with Jenna to diagnose her, but Jenna now realizes that even that is not enough time to provide enough education and the level of personal mastery needed. Jenna still regularly sees her doctor and is happy to include her as part of her support network. Jenna says that her investment into Dr. Yu's program was absolutely worth it. She can’t rave about the program enough, and tells us that it’s hard to understand the value that comes from it because she’s never seen anything like it before. Case Study: How to Escape the Clinical Chaos with Myasthenia Gravis?
Today, Dr. Maggie Yu is interviewing Nimfa and Leon. When any autoimmune disease flares, it can be so life-threatening and debilitating that it presents a very hopeless situation. Nimfa and Leon were able to turn this around in just a matter of weeks, and they share their story about how they accomplished this. Nimfa and Leon start by sharing where they were before they started Dr. Yu's program. Nimfa says that she was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis in 2016. She went through all the conventional treatments but still always had flares, the worst of which were last year and put her in the hospital three times. Leon says that every time Nimfa went to the hospital, her condition seemed to be getting worse. He shares how his daily life was regarding Nimfa, including making sure that she was able to get back and forth to the bathroom. They even had to put a toilet in their bedroom because it was so difficult for her. Leon also recalls how an allergic reaction that Nimfa experienced while in the hospital nearly killed her. We hear about how Nimfa began to notice differences while she was still in the program. She discusses how upon entering the program, her main focus was on regaining her ability and desire to eat. The program helped her realize that there are so many things connected to her autoimmune disease besides food. She happily talks about how she was able to go out with Leon to get groceries and lower some of her medication dosages. Leon jumps in to express how a while ago, Nimfa wouldn’t even have been able to have this conversation because she found speaking to drain her energy. Dr. Yu asks the couple about what they think the true reasons are that make her program successful. Leon says the first reason is that it helps to identify the cause. He believes that many people are trying to fix just symptoms rather than the root issue. He adds that motivation from alumni of the program was instrumental as well. Nimfa then talks about how using her personal data was crucial as opposed to using generalized data that fits everybody. With Dr. Maggie’s mindset being “I teach people to fish, I don’t throw fish at people,” she asks Leon if she successfully helped him and Nimfa uncover the causes. Leon proclaims that Dr. Yu educated them enough so that they are able to continue the program themselves, and they can even ask questions to traditional doctors and get their feedback. Nimfa speaks more to how her vitamin deficiencies, how she ate, and more contributed to her flairs. To finish the interview, Dr. Maggie asks Nimfa how her outcomes are compared to other people she saw in testimonial videos for the program. Nimfa reiterates that she is experiencing a great outcome that lets her do the things that she loves to do once again. Nimfa and Leon also state that the investment of time and money was well worth it: Nimfa has recently driven again for the first time in months, and that wouldn’t be possible without Dr. Maggie Yu's program. Case Study: What’s the secret to turning anxiety and hormonal hell around fast?
A lot of us with autoimmune disease deal with debilitating anxiety and hormonal imbalances. Is there a systematic approach to this? Is it solvable? Our guest today, Chris, is here to talk about how those problems got solved for her. Chris has her phone call with Dr. Yu's team about ten weeks ago and shares with us what led her to make this phone call. Chris introduces herself as a mother of two and a career woman. Looking back, she didn’t realize how one issue after another had compounded over many years. It started in her 20s when she had toxic shock, continued into her 30s when she had Epstein-Barr, and into her 40s when she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s. She was at her wit’s end with visiting so many doctors and trying to figure out what was going on. She found Dr. Yu online, and saw that her approach was different than the other doctors she had seen. Chris decided to schedule a phone call with Dr. Yu, on which Chris asked, “am I ever going to feel better? Am I ever going to be the person that I was?” Dr. Maggie answered that question by telling Chris that it isn’t even hard and that she knows exactly how to fix Chris’ life. Chris insists that the aspect that is different about this program is that Dr. Maggie isn’t telling people what to do, but rather helps people find the answers they are looking for. Chris knew what was wrong and just needed the tools to understand what the next steps were. She also needed to get the right mindset. Chris talks about how the food mapping that Dr. Yu assisted with was eye-opening because it caused her to realize that she can’t eat eggs: a food that she was eating regularly because she thought they would make her feel better. Two days after this discovery, she had already begun to feel better. Chris says that her children notice the change in her too, making remarks such as “mommy, you are just so much more happier now.” Before enrolling in the program, Chris describes how she wasn’t ever in-the-moment. Now, she says that she no longer needs to let this disease take over her life. She further comments on how getting her stomach under control has allowed her to sleep soundly at night once again. Dr. Yu asks Chris to share her thoughts on skepticism that is held by some people. Chris was very skeptic as well and tells us that she had spent more money on doctors, trying to figure out what was wrong, than making this investment in herself. She and her husband had to make the decision of if this program was what Chris needed, and her husband said that it absolutely was. It’s the best investment that they have made in a long time because Chris is enjoying life again. Dr. Maggie often receives questions about what happens after the program. Chris teaches us that if you put the time in, do the lessons, and get in the right mindset, you will get into a habit and you will make changes. Chris says that she is fully confident that she will continue to feel better even though she has finished the program, with much credit going to the support group of other people who have completed the program and changed their lives. Case Study: Crohns and MS. Thanks for giving me my wife back – Love, Autoimmune Husband
Dr. Maggie Yu provides an eight-week online coaching program to transform autoimmune disease naturally, and Alisa is a recent graduate from that program. She is here today to talk about where she was before starting the program, what her outcomes have been, and what the process was like through this journey. Alisa introduces herself as a 41-year-old married mother of two kids. She started her health journey in 2002 when she was diagnosed with MS. It was a big shock, but thankfully, her symptoms were minimal. However, in 2005, Alisa was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease which was a big struggle for her. In the fall of last year, her doctors were recommending a bowel resection to avoid having to do an emergency one later. Alisa quickly agreed to the surgery and was expecting the outcome to be dramatic and life-changing, but it didn’t turn out how she had expected. Alisa talks about the struggle of her recovery and how it affected everything in her life. She did research and decided she needed something outside-the-box, which led her to Dr. Yu and her program. Graduating from the program just about a month ago, Alisa has already gone on a trip to Europe, which she says would have made her very anxious beforehand. She talks about some of the things that she learned in the program, citing vitamin deficiency advice that was specific to her as the one of the most valuable. This helped her to collaborate with the right providers so she could get the exact treatment that she needed. We also learn about the food mapping that Alisa received and her amazement that she has never heard of food mapping before, despite having an issue directly related to her bowels. Alisa’s husband Omar then joins in on the conversation to share his experience. Dr. Yu invites spouses to be included on the initial phone call with people who are interested in starting the program, so Dr. Maggie asks Omar what his thoughts were during that first phone call. He says that it was good to get to know Dr. Maggie, because when pursuing a program to fix such a problem, it always seems like you’re talking to a salesperson. Omar also states how Dr. Yu is true to her word and doesn’t promise anything, instead opting to provide the information needed and letting the person decide if they want to make a change in their life or not. The couple are asked how eating has changed in their family after the program, with Omar expressing that the rest of the family are still able to eat the same. Having a lot of anxiety before entering the program, Alisa reports that she now feels in control. She says that everything she ate was a big question before, but now she is aware of complications that come with eating certain foods and can judge whether the trade off is worth it or not. Dr. Maggie asks if the program feels like going to see a doctor or nutritionist for eight weeks, and Alisa speaks to how it is like nothing she has ever experienced. A significant reason why she feels this way is because this is the only time Alisa feels like she has been treated as a whole person, as opposed to how she feels when doctors look at issues in isolation of others. Alisa had sleeping problems for years and thought she had tried everything to remedy them, so we get to hear just how quickly these issues were vastly improved in the program. The final question that Dr. Yu asks Alisa is if everything was worth it. Alisa says that it was worth it “a million times over” and that Dr. Maggie is priceless. She also expresses her appreciation of how supportive everyone in the group is and the importance of being able to talk to people who relate to her struggles. The post Case Study: Crohns and MS.
