Welcome to episode 11 of Trail Running Ireland. The show is hosted by Eoin Flynn, UTMB Finish Line Race Announcer and 10 times Irish International Mountain Runner.
First up, Eoin chats to Simon Kelly from the Waterville Trail Running Festival who gives a first hand account of the fantastic trail running that went on in the Kerry Way Ultra this weekend with some spectacular race results to report on.
Our expert trail running coach Rene Borg took part as a race participant in the Kerry Way Ultra and has a fascinating race report on many aspects of his own performance with some great racing, training and recovery tips for everyone. Rene chats about:
- mental preparation for the race taking into account that replan his racing schedule this summer
- any concerns going down to race given the current environment
- atmosphere come race day
- training preparation for the race and how he adjusted his summer schedule
