Trading with Jesus

It’s Monday. New week. Clean slate. New opportunities—not just in the market, but in how we show up.Before we open the charts, let’s look at Matthew 4:1-11, where Jesus is tempted in the wilderness.

Today we’re in Matthew 6:5–18, where Jesus talks about prayer, forgiveness, and fasting. But the deeper message in this passage is really about the condition of the heart.

Not defined by our job, not defined by our account balance, not defined by a green day or a red day. Our identity is in Christ.

Today we’re in 2 Peter 3, and the theme is something every trader struggles with at some point: timing. Peter explains that people were mocking the promise that Jesus would return. They were basically saying, “Everything looks the same. Nothing is changing. Where is God?” And Peter responds with something powerful. He says with the Lord, a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day. In other words, God’s timing does not operate on our clock.

Today we’re talking about something deeper than setups, deeper than bias, deeper than P&L.We’re talking about living hope.1 Peter 1 says we’ve been born again into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Not a dead hope. Not a fragile hope. A living one.

James 2 says something that hits hard: “Faith without works is dead.”James isn’t saying we earn salvation by effort. He’s saying real faith shows up in action. If you truly believe something, it will move your hands. It will shape your decisions. It will change your behavior.

Today we’re in Hebrews 10, and this one is powerful. The writer explains that under the old system, sacrifices had to be offered again and again. Same sins. Same cycle. Over and over.

Today we’re in Colossians 3, and this one is all about identity. Paul says if you’ve been raised with Christ, set your mind on things above. Then he says something powerful: you have died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

Today we’re in Philippians 2, and this one will check your heart — especially if you’re in the markets. Paul tells us to have the same mindset as Christ. Then he shows us what that mindset looks like. Jesus, fully God, didn’t cling to status. He didn’t flex power. He didn’t demand recognition. He humbled Himself. He served. He obeyed — even to the point of death. That’s wild. The King of Kings chose humility.

Today we’re in Ephesians 2, and this one hits deep — especially if you’re a trader. Paul says we were dead in our sins. Not struggling. Not slightly off. Dead. And then he drops those powerful words: “But God…” Because of His rich mercy and great love, He made us alive with Christ. And here it is — “By grace you have been saved through faith… not by works.” Let that sink in. Not by works.

Today we're in 2 Corinthians 5. This chapter is about reconciliation. Paul says that through Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself. That means the relationship that was broken by sin has been restored by Jesus. This isn’t behavior management. It’s heart restoration. And then comes the identity shift. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” Not upgraded. Not patched. New.

Today we’re in 1 Corinthians 15. The resurrection chapter. Paul makes it simple. If Christ didn’t rise, our faith is empty. But if He did rise — and He did — then everything changes. The resurrection is not symbolic. It’s not motivational language. It’s historical victory. Jesus died, was buried, and rose again. That means death itself has been defeated. And if death is defeated, then fear loses leverage. Let’s bring this into our world.

Today we’re in Romans 8. And it opens with one of the most powerful lines in Scripture:“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”Let that breathe for a second.No condemnation.Not “less condemnation.” Not “condemnation on small red days.” None.

Sometimes obedience doesn’t immediately look like blessing. Sometimes doing the right thing still lands you in uncomfortable situations.

Today we’re building off Acts 10 — a chapter that changes everything. Up until this point, most believers thought the gospel was mainly for Israel. But in Acts 10, God sends Peter to a Roman centurion named Cornelius — a Gentile. An outsider. Someone who didn’t fit the old religious mold. And while Peter is still preaching, the Holy Spirit falls on Cornelius and his household. That moment makes one thing clear: Jesus didn’t come for one nation. He came for all nations. The kingdom has no borders.

Today we’re in Acts 9. Saul transformed. Saul wasn’t lost and wandering. He was focused. Driven. Disciplined. He had conviction. The problem? He was passionately wrong. He was persecuting Christians, thinking he was serving God. Then Jesus interrupts him.

Today we’re in Acts 8. The early church is under pressure. Persecution hits. Believers are scattered. From the outside, it looks like loss. It looks like chaos. It looks like things are falling apart.

In Acts 4, Peter and John are standing before leaders who are threatening them, questioning them, trying to intimidate them into silence. And instead of shrinking back, they speak boldly about Jesus. Not because they were naturally fearless. Not because the environment was favorable. But because they were filled with the Spirit and confident in God’s plan.

Today we’re in Acts 2, Pentecost. Jesus had already lived, died, risen, and ascended. The disciples were waiting. And then the Holy Spirit came. Not softly. Not subtly. Wind. Fire. Boldness. Power.

Today we’re anchored in Acts 1 — the ascension of Jesus. After the cross. After the resurrection. After finishing the work. Jesus rises and returns to the Father. Scripture says He is taken up and seated in authority.

Today we’re talking about one of the most powerful moments in the entire Bible… the resurrection of Jesus found in John 20. This is not just a history lesson or a church moment. This is the foundation of our faith and honestly, it speaks directly to how we walk through life, pressure, and even trading.

Luke 23 shows Jesus on the cross giving His life for humanity. From the outside, it looked like total defeat. He was betrayed, falsely accused, mocked, beaten, and crucified. To the world, it looked like everything had gone wrong. But spiritually, this was the greatest victory ever accomplished.

Today we’re talking about one of the most powerful pictures of love and leadership we see in Scripture, and that comes from John 13, when Jesus washes His disciples’ feet.

Today comes from Mark 5. The man Jesus meets wasn’t just struggling emotionally. He was possessed by demons. He lived in isolation, hurting himself, uncontrollable, and nobody could help him. Chains couldn’t hold him. People had completely given up on him. Then Jesus shows up.

Today we’re pulling from Matthew 5, where Jesus lays out His vision for life in God’s Kingdom. And what’s powerful is Jesus immediately shifts the focus away from external performance and puts it directly on internal transformation. He shows us that righteousness isn’t about how things look on the outside. It’s about what’s happening inside our hearts.

Since it’s the weekend, this isn’t about locking in on charts or preparing for the next session. This is about slowing down, exhaling a little, and letting God speak to parts of us we usually drown out with noise, movement, and grind.

Some seasons don’t feel hard. They feel empty. You’re showing up, doing what you’re supposed to do, but inside it feels dry. No excitement. No momentum. Just going through the motions and hoping something changes. Ezekiel 37 speaks right into that.

Some days just hurt. Not in a dramatic way. Just a quiet heaviness. Disappointment. Fatigue. Maybe things didn’t go how you hoped, in trading or in life, and you’re trying to keep it together without really knowing what to say. Lamentations doesn’t rush past that feeling.

A lot of pressure comes from believing everything depends on you. Do better. Be more disciplined. Don’t mess up again. Hold it together. That mindset sneaks into faith just as easily as it sneaks into trading. Jeremiah 31 speaks directly to that.

Isaiah 53 talks about a servant who suffers, not because He messed up, not because He deserved it, but because He chose to carry what others couldn’t. This servant is rejected, misunderstood, wounded, and crushed. And the wild part is Isaiah is writing this hundreds of years before Jesus ever shows up.

You’re showing up. You’re doing the right things. You’re being disciplined. But it feels quiet. Slow. Maybe even discouraging. And if you’re not careful, you start wondering if God sees you or if you’re just stuck in a holding pattern. Isaiah 40 speaks directly to that feeling.

Fridays have a way of surfacing everything from the week. If the week went well, there’s relief. If it didn’t, there’s frustration. Either way, there’s a temptation to carry the whole week into the weekend. Replaying trades. Replaying mistakes. Thinking about what you should’ve done differently. Scripture gives us a better way.

The market has a way of shrinking your world. One candle. One trade. One day. Everything feels urgent, and if you’re not careful, you start living like nothing exists beyond the next result. Ecclesiastes 3 kind of cuts through that.

Wisdom isn’t about perfect execution. It’s about humility. Trusting that Jesus sees more than you do and letting His wisdom carry more weight than your instincts or the market.

Trading has a way of putting pressure on your mind and emotions. The charts move, the P&L fluctuates, and if you’re not grounded, your peace can slowly drift toward outcomes instead of God. When that happens, discipline turns into striving, patience turns into anxiety, and rest feels just out of reach.

You don’t need to be perfect—you just need to keep progressing. Trading isn’t about never making mistakes. It’s about becoming more aware, more disciplined, more faithful with each session. Perfection isn’t required—but growth is expected.
