Trading with Jesus

Today’s devotional is centered around a powerful moment in Scripture often called Another One in the Fire. And this is one of those passages that hits different once you really see it.

In Ezekiel 47, the prophet sees this vision where water starts flowing out from the temple. At first it’s shallow. Ankles. Then knees. Then waist deep. And eventually it gets so deep you can’t cross it. Wherever this water goes, dead things come back to life. Trees grow. Fruit shows up. Even places that were salty and lifeless become fresh again. And here’s what’s wild. Ezekiel doesn’t create the river. He doesn’t control it. He doesn’t force it. He just follows it deeper.

Some seasons don’t feel hard. They feel empty. You’re showing up, doing what you’re supposed to do, but inside it feels dry. No excitement. No momentum. Just going through the motions and hoping something changes. Ezekiel 37 speaks right into that.

Some days just hurt. Not in a dramatic way. Just a quiet heaviness. Disappointment. Fatigue. Maybe things didn’t go how you hoped, in trading or in life, and you’re trying to keep it together without really knowing what to say. Lamentations doesn’t rush past that feeling.

A lot of pressure comes from believing everything depends on you. Do better. Be more disciplined. Don’t mess up again. Hold it together. That mindset sneaks into faith just as easily as it sneaks into trading. Jeremiah 31 speaks directly to that.

Isaiah 53 talks about a servant who suffers, not because He messed up, not because He deserved it, but because He chose to carry what others couldn’t. This servant is rejected, misunderstood, wounded, and crushed. And the wild part is Isaiah is writing this hundreds of years before Jesus ever shows up.

You’re showing up. You’re doing the right things. You’re being disciplined. But it feels quiet. Slow. Maybe even discouraging. And if you’re not careful, you start wondering if God sees you or if you’re just stuck in a holding pattern. Isaiah 40 speaks directly to that feeling.

Fridays have a way of surfacing everything from the week. If the week went well, there’s relief. If it didn’t, there’s frustration. Either way, there’s a temptation to carry the whole week into the weekend. Replaying trades. Replaying mistakes. Thinking about what you should’ve done differently. Scripture gives us a better way.

The market has a way of shrinking your world. One candle. One trade. One day. Everything feels urgent, and if you’re not careful, you start living like nothing exists beyond the next result. Ecclesiastes 3 kind of cuts through that.

Wisdom isn’t about perfect execution. It’s about humility. Trusting that Jesus sees more than you do and letting His wisdom carry more weight than your instincts or the market.

Trading has a way of putting pressure on your mind and emotions. The charts move, the P&L fluctuates, and if you’re not grounded, your peace can slowly drift toward outcomes instead of God. When that happens, discipline turns into striving, patience turns into anxiety, and rest feels just out of reach.

Your trading is more than numbers and charts—it’s worship. When you approach it with discipline, integrity, humility, and faith, you glorify God. Every patient entry, every surrendered outcome, every prayerful decision—it all reflects His character in you.

You don’t need to be perfect—you just need to keep progressing. Trading isn’t about never making mistakes. It’s about becoming more aware, more disciplined, more faithful with each session. Perfection isn’t required—but growth is expected.

Fear will always try to creep in—fear of missing out, fear of losing money, fear of making the wrong move. But that fear isn’t from God. He’s given you power, love, and a sound mind. That means you can think clearly, act calmly, and trust fully—even in volatile conditions.

Trading days can be intense. But when the market closes, your mind should too. God doesn’t want you replaying every candle, every exit, every “what if.” He wants you to rest. To release. To find peace knowing you gave your best and He’s still in control.

Trading isn’t just technical—it’s spiritual. If you’re a believer, the Holy Spirit is your Guide—even in the markets. You don’t just need entries and exits; you need alignment.

Success in trading is not the end—it’s a means. God is not against wealth; He is the One who gives the ability to produce it.

The market can be foggy. News, volatility, and emotion can cloud your vision. But God’s Word is the lamp that cuts through the confusion. It grounds your thinking, clears your perception, and gives you truth to stand on when charts seem uncertain.

In trading, an “edge” is the set of conditions where you have a higher probability of success. But even with a strong edge, outcomes vary. You may experience a losing streak, but that doesn’t mean your edge is broken. What you need is the faith to hold the edge—to trust the process over time.

Everyone falls. Even the righteous. Even the diligent. But what sets them apart is this: they rise again. Losses will come. Mistakes will happen. You’ll misread charts, overreact, miss trades. But grace doesn’t leave you where you fall—it lifts you, restores you, and calls you forward.

You can control your setup. You can control your risk. But you can’t control the outcome—and that’s okay. The goal of trading as a believer is not perfect execution but submitted execution.

The desire to prove yourself—especially after a loss or a missed move—is one of the biggest traps in trading. But Paul reminds us: don’t do things out of pride.

There’s a temptation after a green day to loosen your grip—to size up, push harder, or get complacent. But real growth comes when you build on green days instead of risking them.

It’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind. Like you “should” be further along by now. But the kingdom doesn’t move by comparison—it moves by calling.

The market thrives on chaos. Price moves, news breaks, volatility hits—and if you’re not anchored, you’ll drift. But God offers a peace that surpasses market noise. And that peace isn’t passive—it’s a weapon.

Sometimes trading can feel isolating—like no one sees your effort, your pain, your small wins. But Jesus reminds us that even sparrows, sold for pennies, are not forgotten by God.

Growth in trading—and in life—comes not just from experience, but from reflection. Many traders keep trading but never pause to review.

It’s easy to feel frustrated when your trading account isn’t where you want it to be. Maybe your progress feels slow, your profits are small, or you’re stuck in a long learning curve.

The market will test your patience. It will whisper, “Look at them—they’re winning. You’re falling behind.” In those moments, Psalm 37 reminds us to be still. Patience in trading isn’t weakness—it’s power.

The internet is full of opinions, strategies, and flashy wins. But when it comes to navigating the markets with clarity, there’s no better source of wisdom than God Himself. He invites you to ask—and promises not just to answer, but to do so generously.

If you’re going to walk this journey of trading with the Lord, it has to begin with one thing—faith. Faith that He has called you to this, faith that you are capable of growth, and faith that profitability is possible.
