The Spiritual Life, Episode 1: Doctrinal Foundations of the Spiritual Life (Part 1) It has already been said that the supernatural life of the soul must be firmly established on the solid basis of Catholic dogma. Our life must be based on truth. When tempted in the desert, Christ refuted Satan by quoting the book of Deuteronomy: “Not on bread alone doth man live, but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God.” Revealed truth, therefore, is food for the soul. In this first episode of The Spiritual Life, Father Bernard will begin a three part series presenting some important doctrinal foundations of the spiritual life. As a text to guide us through this series, Father will be using a book by one of his favorite spiritual writers, Father Edward Leen, C.S.Sp. (1885-1944), entitled – The Holy Ghost and His Work in Souls.
