Jesus' words on the cross quoted David from Psalm 22. Walk through the chapter as we remember the cross, reflect on Jesus' sacrifice and rejoice in His victory.

Jesus begins Holy Week with a victory parade! Similar to a celebration of a king who just won a battle, the people welcome their Savior before He even fought the battle. Palm Sunday is a great reminder that Jesus is our King, our victory and our Savior. Hosanna!

Jesus completes His work on the cross, paying for our sins in full. As our church took communion and studied the Word, we remembered that Jesus' death was the moment our redemption was accomplished. And we celebrate the fact that the "tomb nearby" was only borrowed for the weekend!

When we look at the cross, we see hope, forgiveness and so much more. But the layers present at Calvary are worth digging into. The fulfillment of Psalm 22, the link to 1 Samuel 17 and the Goliath story, and so much more! Grab your Bible and study this passage with us as we look to Jesus and His death that He died for us.

We began the sermon by watching an excerpt of Jesus' scourging from the Passion of the Christ movie. As we move into the more graphic part of Jesus' suffering and ultimate death, we're reminded of what He did for us and the price that was paid for our sin.

Notice the pattern of Peter in this passage. The disciple who talked a big game fell away when the pressure rose. The one who chopped off an ear in the Garden denies Jesus when he gets exposed at Christ's trial. Although Peter's example isn't one to follow, we still see Jesus' divinity and mercy through this interaction leading to the cross.

Scripture is full of examples of compromise for us to learn from - Adam compromised with Eve, Lot compromised with Sodom, Saul compromised and desired what God told him to destroy. There's always singing around Christmas because there are lots of reasons to be joyful! And in Luke chapters 1 and 2 there are 3 significant songs where the birth of Jesus causes those present to rejoice in praise!

Three times in these 7 verses Jesus declared that the Father had SENT Him. There was a purpose to the sending, the Word being made flesh, God with a message of hope and salvation to the world.What started in a manger was going to end on a cross, and Jesus was praying for the world. That everyone would have a chance to receive His love and forgiveness.

In the prayer of Jesus, He spends the middle part of the chapter praying for His disciples, specifically men. It's time for men to step up and lead their families and communities towards God's truth in this moment! Don't ask the Lord to take you out of the culture, but see how Jesus prayed that God would strengthen us in the challenges.

As we begin the Christmas season, we're reminded of Jesus' desire to glorify His Father, and that is why He came. Pastor Jerry digs into the beginning of Christ's prayer in the garden, and we see a holy moment when the Son prays for Himself, that the Father would be glorified in Him and through Him.

Do you trust the Holy Spirit to complete the work of making a disciple of Jesus? Often we can find ourselves in the place of being a helicopter parent in the spiritual sense. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. This is the last phrase of John's first epistle to the church. Why is it important to stay away from idols, and what are idols in the modern day? We don't have little statues anymore, so what can take our attention and allegiance away from God?

When Jesus, a builder, promises to build everyone a mansion, and then return to get them, his listeners would have paid closer attention. And once they were leaning in, Jesus clarifies the exclusivity of who He is, and that He's the only Way to Heaven. He is THE TRUTH, and it's absolute truth that doesn't change. We can build our lives upon the firm foundation of Jesus and His everlasting faithful truth.

Have you ever gotten lost? Been anxious? Had a troubled heart after bad news? The way to finding peace and hope is only found in Jesus.

This week the assassination of Charlie Kirk reminds us all not just that life is short, but also that the war the apostle Paul describes is absolutely real. It's not right vs left - it's right vs wrong. Regardless of how you process a tragedy like this, we know that our hope is in heaven. May the Lord give us the courage of the first martyr Stephen, the courage of John the Baptist in front of Herod, and not value our own lives so much that we compromise the truth and the Gospel.

Wash me Lord, and not just my feet, but my head and my hands as well!

This passage is Jesus' final public address. What's clear is that some folks won't see Him for who He is, or believe in Him no matter what sign He gives or miracle He performs.
