In Mark 10:45, Jesus offers one of his clearest statements about his mission:
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."*
This verse challenges our ideas about greatness, power, and what it means to live a life of purpose.
Redefining Greatness
Jesus spoke these words after his disciples argued about who was the greatest. Instead of encouraging competition or status, Jesus pointed to humility and service. He taught that true greatness is not found in rank or privilege, but in self-giving love.
