Paula Semer was de eerste leading lady van de TV, maar ze begon haar carrière bij de radio: in november 1944. Ze was net afgestudeerd als onderwijzeres, maar had geen werk. Ze las commentaren in bij animatiefilmpjes en zo werd ze ontdekt. Ze speelde mee in het Kinderuurtje en was te horen in tal van luisterspelen.
