Mei '68 was vooral een mannenzaak. De vrouwen speelden tijdens de studentenrevolte weinig of geen rol. Dat veranderde pas met Dolle Mina. Die beweging ontstond in Amsterdam bij het begin van de jaren '70 en waaide snel over naar ons land. Chantal De Smet richtte Dolle Mina Gent op en stond mee aan de wieg de eerste Vrouwendag in Brussel in 1972.
