Launch Hangout | Perseverance Rover Launches to Mars, along with the Ingenuity Helicopter

We had a LIVE Launch Hangout for the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover from Cape Canaveral in Florida from the comfort of the podcast studio. A beautiful day to launch to the Red Planet, and both NASA and ULA had nominal launch. Big shoutout to everyone involved in changing the game plan of preparing a rover to go into space, and still be able to succeed - even with a coronavirus outbreak. You can watch the full NASATV broadcast here - lots of good info (and interviews!) https://youtu.be/JIB3JbIIbPU Thanks everyone who joined in on chat! Great hearing from you - and thanks for the questions! More on the Galileo Rocket project next week! We're making progress!

SpaceX Double Fairing Recovery, Tianwen-1 to Mars, and a science-based approach to dealing with bullshit information in our daily lives

E

It was a busy week in space this week! Lots to talk about - China is off to Mars with it's first rover, SpaceX successfully achieved another level of reusability capabilities, the return date for Demo-2 and Astronauts Bob & Doug is official (and soon!). And we have a progress update on our Galileo rocket project after our first design session. Next one is this coming Sunday - follow us on facebook at Today In Space Podcast to get an update when we do. Join us! I also decided to expand on a previous idea from the podcast, the scientific ladder of ideas. The same way that scientific ideas go from a hypothesis to a theory can also help us get better at filtering through the bullshit information in our daily lives. It's helped me, and if it helps even one other person - it's worth sharing! Have a good week - be well! Mars 2020 Rover Companion Podcast|Learn about Perseverance & Ingenuity|TIS#209

This week we're covering the Perseverance Rover aka Mars 2020 Rover mission. Learn more about this incredible feat of engineering, including when it's expected to launch, some of the challenges the team has faced, and of course the science we're expected to see if and when this mission is successful. I compiled all my favorite facts and information on WHY this mission is important. It's primed to blow us all away when it gets to the surface of the Red Planet - and we wish NASA and the United Launch Alliance luck launching on time under these pandemic conditions. They've worked hard to get us to this point! Good luck! Rocket Project Update, Biosphere2, Europa Clipper freed of SLS(?), and RocketLab's Anomaly | TIS#208

E

This week has been crazy and busy - not only with all that's happening in the Space Industry, but in each of our lives. So I sat down and shared my thoughts on some of the things we've got going on and what we're following in Space. First - an update on the Rocket Project 2020! Voting is underway for us to name our first 3D printed model rocket. Head over to our instagram page @todayinspacepod to vote! We also take out some of our model rockets we'll be launching and comparing our rocket to. Second - we have to talk about mind and body balance. It's more important now than ever. I share what I've been up to - and a space movie for you in case you need an escape! Spaceship Earth on Netflix! All about Biosphere2 - which brings up a potential flaw in the idea of humans living on other planets. A cautionary tale for sure. Third, preliminary news that the Europa Clipper mission, to explore the subsurface ocean of one of Jupiters most unique moons gets surprising launch flexibility thanks to Congress actually working together? I know, a strange world we live in. And finally, we discuss Rocket Lab's anomaly and loss of payload that occurred on July 4th - a loss and a setback, but also a change to grow and change for the better. SpaceX went through it before, and clearly has come out the other side. Lots to talk about! Hope you stay safe and healthy - be well. Alex

Launch Hangout | SpaceX Launches for Space Force | GPSIII-SV03 named to honor Col. Thomas G Falzarano | TIS207

This episode is a recap of the live Launch Hangout for the SpaceX launch of GPSIII-SV03 mission for the Space Force. It was the first mission that SpaceX has done for the new branch of the military, as the Space Force is starting to take over some of the responsibilities of the Air Force during this transition period. As we found out during the launch, GPSIII-SV03 was dedicated to the memory of Col. Thomas G Falzarano, who unexpectedly passed away in May. We close this episode listening to part of the video made by Air and Space Force members close to the late Col. Falzarano. Its a reminder that going to space is never a single individual or a robotic rover - it takes village of dedicated people. Enjoy and be well - until next week, spread love and spread science.

Thoughts | SpaceX, NASA, Changing the World, and Addiction TIS#205

SpaceX was able to change the space world by launching American Astronauts Bob & Doug with the Demo 2 launch. It took 10 years and lots of hard work. I quit a pack a day cigarette addiction after 7 tries to 'quit', and 5 years of replacing the habit and rewiring my brain with podcasting and 3dprinting. How long will it take us to make real change in the world? What can we do to be in this for the 'long haul'? How does addiction relate to changing the world? Well, I relate the only way I can, with my own experiences. Hope you enjoy the rant of an episode. Thanks for listening and being a part of this space science podcast!

Joshua Lynch - Legacy, Lifting Everyone up, Computer Science, Gaming, JMYSTIC | People of Science TIS#204

This week I had the honor of having Josh Lynch (@JMYSTIC) on the podcast. Josh and I met when we both worked in tech retail and always connected on content creation and having an online presence. He's currently finishing up his Computer Science Engineering degree and continues his online brand JMYSTIC with his streaming, various youtube channels, social media, and interacting with the community he's built online. As an admirer of everyone building their own legacy, I've been wanting to talk to him about the journey and challenges of building a brand online. Josh is not only an engineer, but he uses his knowledge of the technical and combines it with the artistic to put out some great content. I enjoy watching his stuff whenever it comes up on my feed. There are some video games I know only from watching him play them. Josh recently put out this reaction video on one of his new channels, and he had an incredible message from his perspective as a young black man in America. We discussed the murder of George Floyd and what's needed for change in the future. I thank him for coming on the podcast and sharing - make sure to follow him @jmystic everywhere. How I use science to fight the fear of the unknown | Thoughts from an Engineer TIS#198

This week I share my thoughts on how a scientific mindset can be used to fight the fear of the unknown. In these current times, its tough to get any solid information about a topic. Even the experts haven't had enough time to really figure out what's going on. Which means we have to settle for 'good enough'. But we can have standards. Today, I bring back the concept of the scientific ladder of ideas to showcase how science values different types of ideas. The rungs of the ladder start from Hypothesis, to Theory, all the way to Law. I use current events to show how a scientific mindset can help us quell the fear of the unknown so we can focus on what's important and in front of us today. Wishing you all the best in these strange times. Hang in there! We're here for you. Follow along on our adventure to donate PPE to those in need that we're 3D printing here in our lab. We also have some cool space gear we're making here in the 3D printing lab - make sure to share with your space friends and help support us! May 27th 2020 - Demo 2 launch of the SpaceX Crew Dragon to bring NASA Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken to the ISS. A historic day when America will use its own spacecraft to bring humans into space for the first time since the Space Shuttle in 2011. MARK YOUR CALENDARS! We will go live that day to broadcast - more coming up this week. Be well!

Zac Hall - SpaceExplored.com & Lead Editor for 9to5mac | SpaceX Crew Dragon, NASA, SLS, Starlink, and the future of the Moon! | People of Science TIS#197

Welcome to another installment of the People of Science where we breakdown the common misconception of what someone in science is like. This week our honored guest is Zac Hall, lead editor of 9to5mac.com and writing for his new website SpaceExplored.com We originally met at the NASA Social event for the SpaceX CRS-19 mission in December of 2019. Zac discussed his path into space from a distant interest to a full blown lifestyle after experiencing his first rocket launch (like myself) at the NASA Social event in December 2019 for the SpaceX CRS-19 launch. He attended the State of NASA social, met Administrator Jim Bridenstein, saw the SLS Core Stage on the test stand, and then watched CRS-20 and Starlink 6 launch in person. - I think he's got the space-bug! Zac and I could have talked about space for another 2 or three hours, and we will be talking again around the May 27 Crew Launch from Kennedy Space Center. But we close out this episode discussing where NASA history and future, as well as some thought towards space tourism and the commercialization of the Moon, and what that means with the current administration in charge. Ozan Varol, author of 'Think like a Rocket Scientist' | People of Science TIS#195

Welcome to another installment of the People of Science where we breakdown the common misconception of what someone in science is like. This time, we have a very special guest - Ozan Varol, the author of the new book 'Think like a Rocket Scientist', available right now on Amazon and wherever else you can find books (rocketsciencebook.com to make it easy for you to find everywhere) Ozan draws from the most important lessons he learned from his previous profession as a rocket scientist and comes up with a unique playbook for all workplaces. I personally had an amazing time talking with him, as I found so many parallels with him based on his experience as a person of science. I HIGHLY recommend you listen to this episode, and of course, read his book. There are so many lessons that Ozan does a great job of expressing in our interview and in the book. If you are a fan of this podcast you WILL be a fan of this book. It's also an easy read - which is saying something considering its a book about how to think like a rocket scientist. A big thanks to the folks at BroadsidePR for getting me in touch and reaching out! Hope you enjoy!

Perfection VS. 'Good Enough' | SpaceX, NASA, & Coronavirus Response - The Balance TIS194

We're discussing the Balance this week and having to taste our own medicine when it comes to how science and reality work. There's been a lot of talk on this podcast of the balance between theory and practice - specifically NASA and SpaceX. How their varying approaches can be wildy different...but can complement each other perfectly for the future of human space travel. This past month in response to 3D printing against coronavirus - we had to experience that dynamic first-hand. I had to personally draw the line of where perfection goes too far and when 'good enough' is in fact, good enough. We've been in the search for the best (and wanted) option for our heroes on the front lines of this pandemic. There's such a massive influx of people who want to help 3D print masks & faceshields and so little progress in finding the 'perfect' solution. It's tough - no one wants to give a solution that doesn't help people. But, people need a solution - fast. Supplies are low, healthcare is stretched thin, and the science for a cure can't move fast enough... This week, I discuss the challenges I faced in making that choice and WOW do I have a much greater appreciation for the balance of the Space Industry. From the decisions NASA has to make to make sure human lives are safe when traveling to space to how fast SpaceX is able to progress and solve problems, given virtually the same conditions as every other space company that's tried to do the same. You can follow along on our 3D printing adventure to donate PPE to our local front line heroes of the pandemic at our project blog on ag3d-printing.com, as well as our instagram @ag3dprinting

Thoughts: 9 Month trip to Mars or indefinite pandemic lockdown? | TIS193

I've got a few thoughts to share this week on how a 9 month trip to Mars would compare to our current pandemic lockdown situation. There are some similarities and alot of differences. But I've seen a lot of my fellow space peeps talking about the comparison, so let's think it out! What would you rather do - A 9 month trip to Mars or a never-ending date for coronavirus lockdown? And if you did do a trip to Mars - what would be your ESSENTIAL need for the trip? What about your lockdown has taught you about what's needed to keep you sane and productive on that brutal 9 month trip? Mick from TheSceneSnobs.com | SciFi, Star Trek, Star Wars & 'Picard' | People of Science TIS#192

Welcome to our segment called 'People of Science' where we breakdown the common misconception of what someone in 'science' is like. This time we're going into science-fiction, which plays a MAJOR role in telling the story of science to the masses. It's also a huge factor in why so many people get into science. I know it was for me... This week it was an honor to have Mick from theSceneSnobs.com on the show to discuss his passion for space and science fiction. We talked about his origins on what got him into podcasting, and of course we dove DEEP into sci-fi classics like Star Trek, Star Wars, and our thoughts on the new 'Picard' series that just wrapped up Season 1. FYI there are a lot of spoilers in the second half of this episode, but it was a great talk and I hope you enjoy! In life we make connections with people (more so in a life without pandemic) and I am very happy that I met Mary the Mommy on the NASAsocial trip for CRS-19. Which also lead to me meeting and talking to Mick. While quarantine and coronavirus lockdown is upon us - make the most of it! We're taking our own advice/medicine here on the podcast. And I'm very glad I did. Look forward to more of these while (at the moment) we will be in quarantine for the entirety of April. It may not be face to face, but its human connection.

Self-Isolating on our own Spaceship & the Mindf$#k of Reality & Science | TIS#191

First off - we hope you are well. Wishing you all the best in the coming weeks to months of our 'new normal'. Talking a little about how I've handled the past week...which feels like a month. Sharing some things that have worked for me in the hopes it helps even one person for the better. A big theme of this week is that when reality gets f&#ked up science can help, but it takes time for 'good' science to happen. Lot's of exciting stuff to discuss from out lab AG3D Printing. Found a purpose to help create an option to help our front line heroes - Doctors, nurses, emts, special needs and residential staff, fire safety, police, restaurants, grocery stores, liquor stores. Very humbled and honored to be a part of the big innovation movement growing between healthcare and makers of all kinds. So many people looking to help and we're starting to see the focus of the needs from healthcare. More to update on next episode - follow along @ag3dprinting on instagram! Thoughts: COVID-19 Meltdown & SpaceX making moves | On-the-road in San Diego| TIS189

E

This week Today In Space is on-the-road in San Diego, California. Yes, that means we dared to travel with the insanity of the COVID-19 mania. I share my thoughts and observations traveling from Boston to San Diego and how this has affected things. The Balance - Learning about Failure from 3D printing and SpaceX | TIS188

To start of March of 2020, we are going to discuss the Balance. The balance of life as a human being, science, and making human life interplanetary. In all three of these, failure plays a major role. When you view failure through the right lens, things can change for you. In this episode, we discuss how I had a reminder of how failure can be viewed to make you better, if you can only separate yourself from the emotion of it. Our latest attempt at 3D printing the Mandalorian Helmet didn't have the results we wanted, but it reminded me failure is part of the journey. It's also something SpaceX has figured out as a way to develop space technology more rapidly than ever before, like the Starship and Falcon 9. 3D Printing Organs: https://singularityhub.com/2019/05/07/new-progress-in-the-biggest-challenge-with-3d-printed-organs/ 3D Printing Houses: https://youtu.be/gVUlbpZS0Rc Made In Space - ISS First 3D print in Space: https://madeinspace.us/capabilities-and-technology/additive-manufacturing-facility/ Footage of SN1 anomaly by SPadre: https://youtu.be/GenS0_BvGPU Progress of Mandalorian helmet: Part 1: https://vm.tiktok.com/gP3Hv6/ Part 2: https://vm.tiktok.com/g5Bf2V/ (it went viral!) Thought Experiment | Why a space force is necessary (and probably inevitable) TIS186

Audio issues resolved - we're back for another episode to run a thought experiment on the idea of 'why a space force is necessary'. With the Space Force being created as the 6th branch of the US military, there's been a lot of jokes (I've laughed at a few). But the Space Force could very easily become a much larger part in humanities day to day. There are lots of possibilities - a Space Arms Race to a technological transformation that brings human expansion to Lunar and Martian colonies. I've been noticing a trend lately that has the recipe for major change and progress...let's hope it's in the best interest for all of us. The Balance: NASA, SpaceX, and Politics - The Uncontrollable Variables | TIS184

There's a lot covered on this podcast - from the latest bill proposed for NASA's long term goals, to changing my life around my food allergies...it's all about balance. I may have found a balance to living a happy life with those allergies, but NASA has not found a balance to surviving it's relationship with politics. Unfortunate and the ultimate uncontrollable variable in the equation for success with NASA. I have some ideas (some new, some old and now reinforced) on how NASA can strategically place itself in a good position to be resistant to the distracting variable of political interest and influence on our collective long term space progress. People of Science - Vera Rubin | Dark Matter Haloes & Astrophysics | TIS183

Welcome to our newly revamped segment for 2020 called the People of Science where we breakdown the common misconception of what someone in science is like. Let's be honest, when I say that someone is a person of science, or a scientist what do you think of? Probably someone in a lab coat, maybe holding a beaker of some neon colored liquid. Maybe safety glasses on, if you're lucky? On this week's episode - we're talking about Astronomer and Astrophysicist Vera Rubin who is responsible for the discovery of Dark Matter Haloes which expands our search to understanding the mystery of 'dark matter'. Learn a bit about the life and person behind the scientist on this week's episode. The Bachelor...in Space? So it seems, after the latest from the first commercial investor of a SpaceX Starship, Yusaku Maezawa is now planning a romantic getaway (and accompanying dating show) to go with the #dearMoon mission. Or are they not sending artists around the moon anymore? Things are confusing, and space will be weird in the near space future. The Balance: Is Starlink the end of Earth Based Astronomy? SpaceX Starlink 2 Launch Hangout TIS180

First podcast of the year meets first rocket launch of the year with SpaceX's Starlink 2 launch aboard a Falcon 9 (which attempted a landing on the droneship 'Of Course I Still Love You'). During this launch hangout we talk about the details behind the launch of 60 Starlink satellite that will be part of a constellation that will later provide affordable worldwide 5G internet coverage to all. The controversy? Unknown to seemingly everyone before launch, the reflectivity of the Starlink solar panels at certain periods of the day is ruining ground based astronomers images of the stars. I try to sift through the facts and provide a balanced point of view on this. Is SpaceX doing enough to help with this? Is this the end of Astronomy as we know it? Listen to find out! New Year 2020 - Finding Balance with the mind of an addict TIS179

E

Getting real on this episode to talk about my personal balance as we enter the next decade and the start of a new year. Instead of celebrating all of the things I did this past year that were awesome, I usually find myself looking back at what I can improve. It's not always in the most positive mood, but I always try to focus on what I can do to make things better. This podcast has been a huge source of improvement for me and came into my life at my lowest point - right before I accomplished one of the hardest things in my life. Quitting a pack a day cigarette habit. But I really just transferred my addiction to something productive. Sometimes thats great, and sometimes the same old habits come back in other ways that don't include going outside to smoke. I've learned it's a mindset - not just a physical addiction. What I learned about my addictive mindset is if applied properly it can help me achieve my greatest goals. But it is a double edged sword and needs consistent discipline to keep in line. I talk about my own balance as I look to 2020 and of course find someway to tie it into the current state of the space industry. In this case, the commercial crew program with NASA, SpaceX, Boeing and the ULA. There's a balance to everything, from space travel to personal challenges. Identifying that it is a problem or that it needs fixing is the first step. Hope you have a wonderful New Year and wish you the best of luck! Here's to an incredible and most likely weird 2020

NASA Social Tour of the Vehicle Assembly Building VAB - Pre Orion and SLS | TIS176

Here is another installment from the NASA social event we went to last week for the SpaceX CRS-19 Launch. This week, we have a very special tour of the VAB, or Vehicle Assembly Building in Florida. We had the best tour guide we could ever hope for, Greg Hale, who worked at the VAB during the Space Shuttle Era and had so much knowledge and stories to share that even if you are just listening I think you'll get A TON from it. I was completely baffled and honestly speechless at the VAB. The sheer magnitude of the building which was created to assemble some of the most important space technologies of all time - Saturn V and Space Shuttle. And soon to be the Space Launch System. Quite an episode. Hope you enjoy! I know I did. Such an amazing opportunity - thanks NASA Social! SpaceX CRS19 Post-Launch Reaction with remaining NASA Social Crew | TIS#175

After the SpaceX CRS19 launch to send the Dragon Spacecraft to the International Space Station, we had an impromptu podcast as soon as we got off the podcast with some of the remaining NASA Social peeps. Unfortunately, due to the nature of launching rockets, the launch on Wednesday was scrubbed for Thursday and some of the amazing people on this trip had to return home. But, with those remaining, we had the chance to share our reactions post-launch which is really cool considering for most of us it was our first launch! That ANYONE can be into space, no matter your background or interest in space. If you are even a little but intrigued by the infinite expanse of space or seeing an insanely powerful rocket launch off the Earth and into space - there's a place for you! And I highly recommend finding your way to the Space Coast or another launch site to see one for yourself. Sign up for alert for NASA Social to apply to get access to do so in the future! All you need is a social media account! 2. Your first rocket launch in person will knock your socks off. Everyone, including myself, that saw their first launch was basically speechless afterwards. There is so much about a rocket launch that you can't even grasp without feeling it. The slow increasing rumble of the rockets that crescendoes to a loud roar, shaking everything around you. The intense brightness of the rocket flames as they push the rocket out of gravity's influence and into space, which is NEVER shown in its true view in video or pictures. If you ever go to see a rocket launch in person for the first time - please reach out and let me know if you felt anything like this afterwards. A big thank you to NASA Social for selecting me for this opportunity. It was mind bending and now I'm hooked and can't wait to do another in the future. Huge thanks to everyone who jumped on the podcast and shared their reactions! So great meeting all of you including those who had to leave after the first launch scrubbed. To say I had a great time is an understatement!

RIP Starship MK1 and WHY SpaceX is disruptive in the Space Industry | TIS#173

On this episode, which I have recorded for a third time, covers the latest on SpaceX's Starship testing as well as some news on the costs of the Commercial Crew Program for NASA's options on sending humans into space again, without the aid of Russia and their Soyuz capsule (which costs $87 million per Astronaut). I also talk about my thoughts on WHY SpaceX is so disruptive in the Space Industry and how they make it possible to be immune to the ever-changing winds of government funding and political parties in charge. I have recorded this multiple times because so much happened on the same day of recording, we just had to scrap it and start over. With Thanksgiving coming up next week, we've got a longer episode to help tide you over until December, when I will be in Florida capturing the CRS-19 mission for SpaceX thanks to the NASAsocial program. A Star Older Than the Universe?! Alex goes into a black hole of Uncertainty | TIS#172

On this episode I share my thoughts on an article we received from a listener (thank you Rachel!) about one of the oldest Star's in our known universe that registers as older than the universe...How is that possible? Is science not perfect? How can the magical art of science be wrong? IT'S OVER 9000??!! This brings up one of my favorite parts of science. That it is not perfect. In fact, what science does in my opinion is allow us to disseminate reality. And even then, we can only truly guess within a range of uncertainty. No, not the feeling of not knowing the answer - but scientific uncertainty. Scientific and statistical error. Always been a part of science - but we rarely talk about it, and it seems we only do when it's convenient (like when a Star can read older than the universe). And while science can produce answers with reasonable certainty and with small tolerance - when it comes to space that error can seem unimaginably large. What's the tolerance on the age of the universe at 16 billion years? Even 1% of that is MASSIVE. So my message for this week (that I hope comes through) is that it's more beneficial for humanity and science to say "I don't know and here's why" than to say "science is perfect, and there's no need to question it", even accidentally. If we can find a way to make science more real and practical and less like magic, we should do it. Halloween, Action creates Micro-Progress, and SpaceX to the Moon with Starship by 2022? TIS#170

Happy Halloween! This week was a really crazy week and pushed me mentally. But I managed to get another podcast out and accomplish a lot with so many other things going on. This is life. But I wanted to take some time to talk about what helps me get all of this done, between the podcast and AG3D printing. It's the iterative mindset. Setting yourself up to take action and learn in the process. So much of my early 20's was focused on learning everything before taking action. While I may be turning 30 soon and certainly don't feel like I have things "figured out", it's hard not to take a step back and reflect on the progress I HAVE made. Enjoy some rambling about the iterative mindset and how I expand that thought to discuss SpaceX's plans to land a Starship on the Moon by 2022. Orbital News: Historic First All-Woman Spacewalk, the ISS, and NASA's Future | TIS#169

In this episode we cover some orbital news on the historic first all woman spacewalk with Astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir. Learn about what they accomplished on their spacewalk on the ISS, as well as a background on each Astronaut. I share my thoughts on why we don't cover ISS operations regularly on the podcast. When you've gone to school for Aerospace engineering and they retire the Space Shuttle program before you graduate, you tend to be a little cautious about what's happening today in space. I'm focused on what our next step is, as insurance, to make sure the pendulum of politics and goals for NASA don't leave us without a human presence in space. Still love the Space Station though - just have to say that out loud lol. Have a great week! The Balance: NASA & SpaceX - Jim Bridenstein visits SpaceX HQ | TIS#168

This week it's time to discuss the "Balance" in the Space Industry once again as NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstein visited SpaceX HQ in Hawthorne, California to get an update on the progress for the Commercial Crew Program. It's the belief of this podcast that our best chance for a fantastic future in space to happen is if there is a balance between how NASA and SpaceX operate. If they can learn from each other to create a leading space industry that has deep standards and knowledge, but can design and iterate quickly with reusable spacecraft and rockets - we may see the first woman and next man on the moon in 2024 for Artemis, including boots on the surface of Mars before 2030. SpaceX Starship Update, Delta V, and Orbital Refueling | TIS#167

Finally my voice is back from this cold I've had, and I'm well enough to cover the SpaceX Starship update from Elon Musk this past week. While I highly recommend listening to the update yourself (link below), I've broken down some key concepts that I think we should all take away from the current state of Starship. There's lots of work to be done and technology to develop. But, there's also some incredible things that Starship can achieve that no other spacecraft in existence can accomplish. The biggest concept we review this week is about orbital refueling and maxing out your mission's Delta V. Starship could be ahead of its time and allow an expanded mission capable of launching from Earth and to the Moon (and back) on a full tank of fuel, from orbit. We'll explain WHY that's important for space travel. Have a great week! The Raid on Area 51, Bob Lazar, and Stagnant Space Politics | TIS 166

E

Hey there Space People! Back this week for another podcast - it's been a busy week but I managed to pull one together amid the chaos! This episode is more off the cuff and me doing some Space Commentary on the Area 51 raid, my thoughts on Bob Lazar and his Joe Rogan Experience interview and the Netflix Documentary "Bob Lazar: UFOs and Flying Saucers". But to start, I wanted to talk about what the state of space politics is not even a month after the Space Command report. I'll give you a clue - I don't think it can compete with the demand of space progress for commercial and military applications. More exciting stuff to cover from SpaceX on next weeks episode... What is the Future of Space 2060? 8 Possible Space Futures and the Axis of Space Power | TIS165

ABOUT THE EPISODE: The report from Air Force Space Command came across my space radar this week, both online and in person which is usually a good indication we should talk about it here on the podcast. I sat down, read the report, and now I have some thoughts to share. Since there's a solid shot you will never take the time to actually read this report - sit back, buckle up, and get ready as we explain the 8 possible space futures according to the US Space Command that are based on the axis of Space Power: Life in Space, Money in Space, and Allied Leadership. Let's begin... Aliens, the Microbiome, SpaceX CRS 18 Returns, Delta IV Med and Vulcan, SNC Lunar Gateway | TIS#163

In this episode, we cover some Orbital News to cover what's new in the Space Industry. SpaceX just returned their Dragon Capsule from CRS-18 safely, the United Launch Alliance (ULA) had their last launch of the Delta IV Medium rocket and we discuss it's replacement, the Vulcan Centaur Booster. There's also some insight into a potential option for the Lunar Gateway thanks to a tweet from Eric Berger. Then we go over my thoughts on aliens for the first time in a segment dedicated to the topic. I also share my thoughts on the microbiome and it's role in our lives, including the mystery of who came first - humans or the microbiome? Who was the first alien to the planet? A fun episode to put together - hope you enjoy!
