My plan this week was to review the history and significance of Hanukkah. But then came the massacre at Bondi Beach—a slaughter of innocent Jews on the first night of the Festival of Lights. Where is the light in such a time as this? Are you aware that Hanukkah is directly related to Daniel’s prophecy about the Antichrist? Daniel 11 points to Antiochus Epiphanes, the Greek king who massacred 40,000 Jews, sold 40,000 more into slavery, and desecrated the Temple—and he is the prototype of the final Antichrist. Three years later, the Maccabees retook Jerusalem, and oil meant to last one day burned for eight. The light was resurrected. At Bondi Beach, amid the slaughter, an unexpected light emerged—Ahmed al-Ahmed, an Arab Muslim, ran into gunfire to tackle the shooter, saving countless lives. Hanukkah insists that light is not a metaphor but a responsibility. Where is the light after Bondi Beach?
