You can cause yourself to feel however you’ve decided to feel. Hear that again – you can cause yourself to feel however you’ve DECIDED to feel.

This is neuroplasticity at it’s most powerful, and you are in complete control. For instance, when I see a picture of Mom, who died way too young of metastatic breast cancer, my practiced thought is that I was very lucky to have been her daughter. By focusing on a better-feeling thought, I caused myself to feel grateful, not sad. I had to do this a lot before feeling sad wasn’t the default feeling, and that’s how the brain works. With consistency, I taught my brain a different knee-jerk response. Neuroplasticity to the rescue!

Decide how you want to feel and use your powerful brain to feel that way.
