Are you feeling uninspired and listless? Maybe you feel grumpy, a bit light-headed, or unfocused?

Drink water right now.

You’ve probably heard that the body is about 60% water – it’s a rough average, depending on your body type and gender. The brain is about 75% water – that’s all of us, no exceptions.

When you’re even just 1% low on water in your body, brain function declines sharply while pain in the body increases. If you’re prone to headaches, maybe even daily headaches, this is a common side effect of dehydration. Researchers are divided as to whether pain in other parts of the body actually increases as the level of hydration decreases, or whether a person’s perception of the pain increases. I don’t want to feel pain, and I’m pretty sure you don’t either, and feeling grumpy, unfocused, and uninspired is not a good way to go through the day.

Drink water. Drink water regularly to keep dehydration symptoms from showing up, and when you notice that you’re a little “off” drink water right then, too. If you’re pooh-poohing this, that’s OK – drink water anyway and I promise not to say I told you so when you feel better. ;)
