On this day, Paul Blobel -- leader of the Aktion 1005 operation to get rid of evidence of Nazi mass murders -- was executed. / On this day in 1917, poet Gwendolyn Brooks was born. Brooks was the first Black American writer to win a Pulitzer Prize.
