The Czechoslovak Republic, or Czechoslovakia, was proclaimed on this day in 1918. / On this day in 1940, Greek Prime Minister Ioannis Metaxas rejected an ultimatum from Italy to allow Axis forces to occupy strategic sites in Greece.
