Coffee with Jon: Necessary Feedback
In Chapter 11 of The Think Big Movement, titled "Necessary Feedback," Jacob discovers the transformative power of constructive feedback. He realizes that fostering a culture of open, honest communication is essential for both personal and organizational growth. Without such a culture, employees may fear speaking up, and valuable insights can be lost. Consider this: When was the last time you actively sought feedback from your team? Schedule a feedback session and ask them to identify one area where you can improve as a leader. By embracing and implementing their insights, you'll unlock exponential growth for yourself and your team. Download The Think Big Movement and its companion workbook for more insights on growing your business big.

What Are You Doing About Distractions?
Reducing workplace distractions starts with understanding their source. Begin by cataloging interruptions—ask your team where and how they're being distracted. Use this information to set clear standards. For instance, replace open-door policies with scheduled office hours for non-urgent matters. This simple change can minimize disruptions, improve focus, and boost productivity. Remember, saving just four minutes a day translates to 100 hours a year per person. Take steps to eliminate distractions and watch your business thrive.

How Max Emma Revolutionized Bookkeeping After Losing It All"
Max Emma initially worked in corporate accounting and finance, but found it deeply unfulfilling. He celebrated his ""Freedom Day"" from corporate America on July 3rd, 2002, when he shifted to a family-run landscape maintenance business. Despite initially growing the business to an impressive $4 million, a lack of financial oversight and the 2008 recession led to bankruptcy. "It was the greatest lesson in accounting, finance and business ownership I could have ever received," said Max. "Although it felt like the end of the world at the time, I knew I had to keep going and learn from my mistakes." Max persevered, restarting with a smaller landscape maintenance business, this time outsourcing his bookkeeping to another company. Right away, he noticed a significant discrepancy in the way the bookkeeping industry operated. A lightbulb went off in his head. "For the same scope of work, I was seeing quotes from as low as $200 to as high as $2,000 — anyone in finance knows that means there is a big opportunity to dominate a fragmented market," said Max. "So, we started the BooXkeeping business in our garage part-time while we ran our landscaping company to pay the bills." Gradually, BooXkeeping became the Emmas' full-time job and they sold their landscaping company. Although the couple divorced a few years later, they continued to work together to grow the brand, driven by their passion to redefine an outdated industry and put the client first above all else. Today, BooXkeeping is the preferred bookkeeping vendor for over 95 franchise brands in the U.S., including companies like FastSigns, Gameday Men's Health, Sport Clips and more. "Hanging out with franchisors gave me the idea that I could become one of them myself," said Max. "So, last year, I decided to franchise the BooXkeeping concept." Now, with six franchise locations, one corporate location and a fast-growing bookkeeping industry, BooXkeeping is ushering in a whole new era of expansion. "Everybody needs bookkeeping services right now," said Max. "After COVID-19, our brand became even more popular because people realized that taking care of these services themselves was a huge operation, especially with the economic slowdown. Many are questioning the need for a full-time bookkeeper when much of the work can be done more efficiently outsourced. That is where we come in."" In Chapter 3 of The Think Big Movement, titled "When the Student is Ready," the character Jacob encounters mentors who help him see that meaningful business growth starts with internal change. The lesson here is clear: sometimes, breaking through business challenges requires being open to new perspectives and realizing that growth is an inside game. Consider this: who in your network could offer you fresh insights on a current business challenge? An actionable step is to reach out to a mentor or colleague who can help you see things differently. Schedule time to connect—whether it's a call, meeting, or video chat—and openly discuss your challenges to gain valuable guidance. Embracing new perspectives can be transformative for your business. Small Biz Heroes: The Geofencing Game-Changers
Barbara Wardell is a seasoned marketing and ad professional who left behind a very successful career in the specialty medicine world to become a disruptor on behalf of small businesses. She has a hunter-gatherer mindset she uses to guide her geofencing ad agency, Cullari & Wardell. Barbara focuses on what makes her clients strong and their competition weak. She then uses GPS location data to match would-be customers to her client's strengths, thereby both hunting and gathering. The measurable results in terms of increased foot traffic and online conversations are game-changing. Beyond her professional pursuits, Barbara is a proud mother of two outstanding young men, balancing her role as a dedicated businesswoman with a passion for enjoying life to the fullest and spending quality time with family and friends. A true Renaissance man, co-founder Ernesto Cullari has been a successful songwriter with hits on Disney and Country Radio. He was a candidate for the U.S. Congress, and an editorial writer for Fox News, as well as other publications for over a decade. By day, he was a surgical medical device rep for 11 years, until he left what had become a corrupt medical tyranny to pursue a career in marketing and advertising. Ernesto quickly broke into food, beauty and commercial photography and directing with clients like The Original Soup Man, Indigo Hotel, and Hynt Beauty. He was an early adopter of automation and gaming technologies in advertising, which enabled him to merge his creative mind with his analytical mind and leverage them on behalf of his ad clients. Ernesto and Barbara are now trailblazers in the data-intense field of geofencing advertising, where they have turned complete industries, like the laundry industry, upside down. Each month, very inexpensively, they drive over 5,000 satellite-verified in-store visits to small businesses all across the US, Canada, and Australia.
