040: Is Theonomy Important for Economics?
Some people may think that theonomy is a fun topic to study and all, but that is isn't very important and practical today. However, the point of theonomy is that it is practical today. Some may recognize that but think it is only for political issues, not economic issues. This episode explores how theonomy is important for economics, both private and on the government level.

039: Response to Baptist News
This week on the podcast, Jeremy responds to an article by Mark Wingfield that Baptist News Global put out. Jeremy response to some general issues with the article, but focuses on how the article addresses the poor, misinterprets Scripture about the poor and oppressed, and uses the poor as a weapon against others. Here is the link to the article: https://baptistnews.com/article/its-time-to-stop-the-insanity-that-is-killing-public-education/#.Ygpo_YjMJD8

038: The Dorean Principle

037: Do Conservatives Care for the Poor?
A question, or more accurately an accusation, lobbed at conservatives is, "Do you care about the poor and do anything to help them?" This episode of the podcast responds to that accusation, and in particular responds to it from a theonomic perspective, not just a general, secular conservative perspective.

036: Employers vs. Employees
A common assumption recently is that employers and employees are against one another, they are in conflict with each other, each one trying to get what is best for himself no matter the cost to the other. But is this really the case? Are the two so opposed to each other, or does one benefits one also benefits the other, and what harms one also harms the other? Listen to this episode and find the answer to that question!

In this episode of the podcast, Jeremy explains the various spheres of sovereignty. He goes into detail about what they are, what they do, when/how they were established, and how they care for the poor.

034: Rent Increases
Recently there was a firestorm about an answer that Dave Ramsey gave to a listener's question on his broadcast: Is it wrong or sinful for a Christian landlord to raise rent? Ramsey said that it is not, but many people publicly disagreed with him. In this episode, Jeremy weighs in on that debate and gives biblical and economic insight to the question.

033: Postmil When the World Is Collapsing
This week on the podcast, Jeremy responds to a common objection to postmillennialism: the claim that we do not pay attention to what is happening in the world, because if we did, we would stop being postmil. Jeremy responds to this newspaper exegesis with biblical exegesis and a broader look at world history, not at the right here and right now.

032: Jesus Crushing Nations
This episode is dropping on New Year's Eve, so in celebration of the new year, we are looking at Psalm 2, which speaks of the rebellion of nations against Jesus and how those nations are crushed under His just and righteous wrath unless they repent and cling to Him. All who do that, all who believe the gospel, will be blessed.

031: Jesus Our Passover Lamb
This podcast episode drops the morning of Christmas Eve, so it is a special for Christmas. What better way to do a Christmas special on a theonomic economics podcast than to look at a prophecy of Jesus out of the Old Testament Law? So this week's episode has a bit more of a devotional quality than typical episodes do, and I hope it blesses you all! Merry Christmas!

030: Socialism and Telos
This week on the podcast, Jeremy dives into telos, which is the desired end of something, the purpose for which it was created, and how socialism does not fulfill the telos of anything and thus it is doomed to failure. But it is dangerous and will have catastrophic consequences if it become a minority position in any nation. Find out why in this episode!

028: Response to TGC
This week on the podcast Jeremy responds to an article that was released earlier this year by The Gospel Coalition. It was answering a question about welfare and if the church can do a better job to provide for the poor than the state has done. Jeremy critiques the article and gives his own response to this important question. Article: https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/understand-welfare-system/

027: Taxes and Christian Welfare
This week on the podcast Jeremy is joined from Matt Belleville from Reformed Expressions (and who has also written some articles for Cruciform Ministries' blog like I have). Check out Matt's book Your Neighbor and Praising God on Psalm 146.

025: Jesus on Equal Wages
What did Jesus have to say about equal wages? What did Jesus think of the saying "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"? Find out in this episode as Jeremy dives in once again to the parable of the laborers in the vineyard to see what it has to teach us about money, income, and economics. This episode of the podcast is part 2 to episode 23, so make sure to listen to both of them!

024: Missions and Racism
In this episode, Jeremy responds to statements made by Pastor Timothy Keller about fundraising for missions work and racism. Keller claimed that self-funding is an example of systemic racism because white people are more connected and thus get funded and on the field sooner, which is a result of systemic racism through the years of U.S. history. Or is it? Check out this episode to find out!

023: Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard
A lot of the parables of Jesus are recorded in the gospels. Some of them relate to money. One of them that does is the parable of the laborers in the vineyard, or perhaps you know it as the parable of the day laborers. There is a lot of about money and finances and economics that we can learn from this passage, so in this episode Jeremy dives into the parable, explaining it and some of the implications of it. Check it out to learn what the Bible has to teach you about the proper use of money!

022: Does the Bible Condemn Riches?
Does the Bible condemn great wealth? A lot of people think it does and point to passages such as Luke 18:18-27 (the rich, young ruler) or Luke 19:1-10 (Zacchaeus) to make these claims. But do those and other passages covered in this episode actually condemn riches? Listen to this episode to find out!

021: Can You Be Rich and Christian?
In this episode Jeremy answers an important question: Can you be rich and Christian? So many today argue that certain passages in the Bible condemn all riches and therefore rich people cannot be Christians, or if they can be, they are not as good Christians as others. To answer that question, Jeremy jumps into passages of Scripture that highlight riches in a positive light, as well as ones that do not. 020: Christians and Elections
In this episode Jeremy looks back on the election between President Trump and President Biden and what Christians can learn from that for future elections. 019: Thoughts on America and the Future
In this episode Jeremy dives into what the future likely holds, both for the United States in particular and the world as a whole. He talks about things that look bleak in the near future, but also the bright hope that Christ will prevail. All things are being put under Christ's feet while the Father laughs and mocks those who rise up against Him.

018: Naboth‘s Vineyard and Government Property
This episode of the podcast looks at the account of King Ahab and Naboth's vineyard in I Kings 21. This passage in Scripture records an interaction between a king of Israel and a citizen of Israel as it relates to private property. Thus, it has much to teach us about property rights and the government. Check it out to learn what it has to say for us today on economics!

017: Response to J. D. Greear
In this episode Jeremy responds to a recent tweet by J. D. Greear—or more specifically, the graphic he retweeted and his commentary on the graphic. The graphic, a quote from Carliss Chapman and published by Occupy Democrats, makes several false claims that those against ab*rtion should do to be "consistently pr*-life," claims which relate to economics and thus come within the purview of this podcast. Greear falls for the trap Chapman laid out and thus I decided an entire episode in response was justified. 016: Exodus 16 on Economics
What does Exodus 16 have to teach us about economics? Is there really anything that we can learn about economics from the Israelites' gathering manna each morning for forty years in the wilderness? Yes there is! This episode explores some of the things this passage teaches us about economics and how it does not support socialism, despite what some may say.

015: Objections to Theonomy
David comes on again this week to talk with Jeremy about common objections to theonomy. They cover objections such as the claim that theonomy is the NAR's Seven Mountain Mandate, that God's Law is arbitrary, and several others. If you have questions about theonomy yourself or if you need answers for your friends' challenges to theonomy, this is the episode for you!

014: History of Theonomy
David from @PresuppAndDominionPolemics on Gab joins me in this episode to recount how he became a theonomist and then gives a brief history of theonomy. He and Jeremy discuss important figures in the history of theonomy, as well as its relationship with presuppositional apologetics. Check out David's blog: https://christianworldviewsite.wordpress.com/

013: Does Acts 2 Support Socialism?
Many people will claim that Acts 2 supports socialism because it says that the believers in Jerusalem in the early days of the church had "all things in common." Then the next verse says that they sold their possessions to give the money to those who were in need. Christians sympathetic to socialism will twist this passage to justify their economic claims. but does it actually teach what they claim it teaches? Listen to this episode and find out!

012: Deuteronomy or Judges
In this episode, Jeremy explains his statement that we live either in Deuteronomy or we live in Judges and that there are no other options. Jeremy goes into what that statement does not mean (that we literally still live in the Old Testament or under the Mosaic Law) and what it does mean (that we live either under theonomy or autonomy, and autonomy results in destruction). Come check out the episode to learn more about it! Subscribe, like, share, and tell others about Theonomoney!

Like, subscribe, and share!

007: Caesar, Care for the Poor, and Socialism
In this episode of the podcast, Jeremy explains an argument for socialism from Scripture and why it is wrong. The argument is that the civil magistrate must obey God's command to be generous to the poor since God commands that to everyone and he can only be generous to the poor by giving tax money to them, so therefore welfare, and by extension socialism, are biblical. Listen to this episode to hear Jeremy's response as to why this argument is anything but biblical. Last week Jeremy started a two-part series reading the chapter on property from John Locke's Two Treatises of Government. This week he finishes that chapter and with it, concludes the introductory four-part series on private property. Stay tuned as episodes digging into what Scripture has to say about economics are to follow! This book was first published anonymously in 1689 (a year the Reformed Baptist listeners will have no trouble remembering), so no copyright infringement occurred in the recording of this episode.

003: Two Treatises of Government, Part 1
Last week Jeremy mentioned how his two-part introductory series on private property would be turned into a four-part series because he would read the chapter on private property from John Locke's Two Treatises of Government over the next two weeks. Well, here is what you have been waiting for! Part 1 is out, with Part 2 to follow next week! This book was first published anonymously in 1689 (a year the Reformed Baptist listeners will have no trouble remembering), so no copyright infringement occurred in the recording of this episode.

002: Private Property and Economic Principles
In part two of the introductory series on private property, Jeremy covers several economic principles that provide reasons for why private property is important. The first is that private property protects the poor from abuse by the wealthy. The second is that private property is needed for economic transactions, i.e., purchasing and/or trade. The third is that private property is made when one takes something from the earth, what is commonly owned, and adds his or her labor to it, making that thing his property.

001: Private Property and Scripture
In this first full-length episode of Theonomoney, Jeremy discusses an important foundation of economics: private property. He explains how private property is based in and taught by Scripture, using various passages to do so.
