Palm Sunday is a celebration meant to reveal that underneath the waving branches is an uncomfortable tension: Jesus is not the kind of King people were expecting. Those who had followed Him for years are now surely embarrassed. Others watching on are too stubborn to notice they have forgotten the gift of embarrassment. In a world where pain can pull us toward despair, Job reveals that we should take another path that leads to resisting the temptations of suffering and hold on to God—even when the answers do not come.
