Dr. Andy Norman, PhD, is the award-winning author of ‘Mental Immunity: Infectious Ideas, Mind-Parasites, and the Search for a Better Way to Think’. Andy and I are kindred spirits; both fascinated with the vastness of the human mind and this chat is hands-down in my top twenty TYP episodes. I recently listened to him chat with Joe Rogan for over three hours (and was totally captivated), so to spend an hour with him exploring topics and ideas that fascinate me, was a privilege. We spoke about mental immunity and mind parasites (of course), confirmation bias, the impossibility of (total) objectivity, conspiracy theories, the idea of truth, identity protective cognition (it’s a thing), what fear does to our thinking, the wisdom of the Stoics, the costs and benefits of fitting in and lots more.
