As soon as Jody has finally finished setting up the studio to record we can take you back to 1866, suggested by Red and researched by Bobby so a real team effort. A year that sees the SS Great Eastern completes laying the transatlantic telegraph cable between Ireland and Newfoundland, Paraguay defends Curupayty against the Paraguayan War, whilst managing to kill more than 5,000 of their opponents whilst only suffering 50 casualties, Alfred Nobel invents dynamite and then is so ashamed of himself and his legacy he creates the global peace prize, the first daylight bank robbery in peacetime United States history takes place in Missouri, and the Dick of the Year is a famine in Finland that arguably wouldn't have occurred if Red Richardson had been present to advise them a simple way out of it. S1 Ep 26The Year Is 2006 With Special Guest Tim Renkow

Our BAFTA-Nominated friend, the very funny Tim Renkow helps us work out the meaning of 2006, when the crocodile hunter Steve Irwin was unexpectedly killed by a stingray, Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was executed, 140 character social media giant, Twitter was created by someone, and a Jackson Pollock painting was the most expensive painting ever sold at auction to music mogul David Geffen - much to art critic Red Richardson's disapproval. Also we learn what body parts Bobby, Red and Tim would trade with an animal, Red learns the ancient martial art of Crab Manga and Tim teaches us what a wank battle as well as some basic biology that Bobby and Red question.Check out Tim's hilarious BBC BAFTA-Nominated "Jerk" on BBC iPlayer - https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0716m4xSign up now to our brand new Patreon for another episode with Tim Renkow this week as well as early access, bonus weekly episodes not available anywhere else, posters, cameo messages, free tickets to online shows and discounts to live shows and much more - https://www.patreon.com/theyearispodWhat obscure or significant events did we miss from the history of 2006? S1 Ep 25The Year Is 1969 - Part 1 - The King Is Back

E

The King is back. Red Richardson returns and brings with him knowledge of a bygone era in 1969, when the legendary Summer of '69 Woodstock Festival takes place, and Rupert Murdoch buys the largest selling British Sunday phone hacking newspaper The News of The World. Also we learn a lot about how much time Red spent on his honeymoon speaking to Bobby, as well as Death Island, and play a very exciting game of Shag, Marry, Kill. Bobby and Red had a lot to catch up on so this is a two parter, and you can catch part 2 on our Patreon later this week, where we discuss John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "Bed-In" for peace, the earliest confirmed case of HIV/AIDS in North America, and members of the Charles Manson family cult kill Sharon Tate, and four friends.Sign up now to our brand new Patreon for early access, bonus weekly episodes not available anywhere else, posters, cameo messages, free tickets to online shows and discounts to live shows and much more - https://www.patreon.com/theyearispodWhat obscure or significant events did we miss from the history of 1969?
