There comes a point where effort alone is no longer enough. Exodus 18 reminds us that exhaustion is not a sign of faithfulness—and burnout is not a leadership virtue. Even good intentions can lead to strain when everything depends on one person.Wise leadership creates shared responsibility. Delegation is not weakness; it is stewardship. When leaders trust others and build healthy structure, work becomes sustainable, people grow into their roles, and the burden becomes lighter because it is carried together. This passage invites us to release the pressure of doing everything ourselves and to embrace a better way—one rooted in wisdom, humility, and mutual support. Work does not have to crush us to be meaningful. There is a path that honors people, preserves strength, and allows good work to endure.
