S1 Ep 45Challenge Yourself
Challenges can be fun! We all have different areas in which we want to grow, to improve, to come up a little higher and I think a challenge is one of the best ways to do this. Yes, a challenge is a mighty thing. But it will give you the reminder that you need that you can do hard things. That you don't have to succumb to the human nature and just go with the flow. Remember when you go with the flow, the only place you end up is downstream. In this podcast episode, we discuss the benefits of giving yourself a good challenge as a means to help you achieve a short term goal. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know how you plan to create your own challenges, so you can improve in one or more areas of your life. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 44Good Friday
Today is Good Friday! Hallelujah! It is the day we remember the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior. His shed blood for our sins. His conquering of death and His ultimate resurrection. Today we can choose to receive that incredible gift. We can stand in the victory He died to give us. We are already victorious. In this podcast episode, we discuss the freedom that was bought for us by the death of Jesus on the Cross. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know how you plan to receive this remarkable gift and walk boldly in the victory. S1 Ep 43React or Respond?
When the heat gets turned up and you find yourself in an adverse situation, do you react or respond? There's a very important distinction between these two words. One, that if mastered, will save you much stress and worries, while increasing your peace and calm. A reaction is something instantaneous. It's an immediate action taken after something happens, driven almost entirely by emotions. In this podcast episode, we discuss the difference between reacting and responding. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts about this episode and what steps you plan to take to lean into responding instead of reacting, when the fire gets turned up! Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 42Coping
The field of positive psychology has opened us up to a side of psychology, where we focus on our strengths rather than on what ails. Part of positive psychology addresses things like your emotions and processing information. Another is learning about coping. Coping mechanisms is something that if mastered, can radically change the outcome of your life. In this podcast episode, we discuss coping and practical coping mechanisms we can use to help us deal with stress, anxiety and other adverse situations in our lives. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts about this episode and how you plan to start looking for that seed of equal or great benefit, the next time adversity strikes! Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 41Adversity
One of my favorite quotes is by Think and Grow Rich author, Napoleon Hill. It goes something like this, "Every adversity or failure or heartbreak carries the seed of an equal or greater benefit." I love this quote so much because it's all about attitude. When something happens that's bad, unfortunate, sad or frustrating or really, anything that you perceive as being a negative situation, what is your response to it? You can see it for what it appears to be on the surface, but if you would take a little time and let it simmer a bit, you just may find that seed that Napoleon Hill speaks of. In this podcast episode, we discuss adversity and our response to it. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts about this episode and how you plan to start looking for that seed of equal or great benefit, the next time adversity strikes! S1 Ep 40No Response Necessary
As i've grown older, I've learned that I don't have to respond to every rude person I encounter. People are going to be people. They have all sorts of things going on in their lives. Some of them are not as enlightened as we all hope to be and so maybe they are living off their emotions. When something happens that is beyond their ability to master, they are left at the mercy of their unregulated emotions. But I don't have to play their game. I get to choose how, when and if I will respond to them and their antics. I get to determine how I show up in the world and sometimes that is a person who knows about restraint and is willing to be meek in a moment when righteous indignation is rearing its ugly head. In this podcast episode we discuss a little about regulating one's emotions and how sometimes, no response is necessary. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts about this episode and how you plan to start regulating your emotions such that they are not running or ruining your life. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 39Commitment
If you're wanting to be more disciplined and have more self-control so you can make changes in your life and pursue your big dreams and goals, there's hope. What I found in my own journey, is that discipline and self-control are things you can have and use with ease. It requires just one simple thing – commitment. Commitment is the pre-requisite for staying disciplined and focused on your goals. In this podcast episode we discuss commitment and how much discipline and focus you'll be able to have when you are committed to your dreams. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts about this episode and how you plan to start being more committed to the things you say you want in your life. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 39Expectations
There's a credo in the service industry that goes like this: Under promise and over deliver. It's ultimately a concept that helps to set an appropriate level of expectation and subsequently ensuring that that expectation is exceeded. Expectation is an interesting phenomenon. Two people can experience the same event, each with a different expectation level and their perspectives will be drastically different. Why? Because the expectation about that event beforehand was different and so the perspective is different. In this podcast episode we discuss how to set your own expectations with your family and friends, on the job and with yourself. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts about this episode and how you plan to start setting appropriate expectation levels for yourself. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 37Who Knows You?
Have you ever heard the phrase, "It's not who you know, it's who knows you"? It's more significant than you know. You see, when we're young, we think that it's impressive to name-drop; to let others know who we know, as a measure of our significance. Name-dropping might impress your friends, but it won't advance your career, or provide openings you could never create or strategically put you in places you could never get to on your own. In this podcast episode we discuss the importance of who knows you, rather than being impressed with who you know. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts about this episode and how you plan to start to let your actions, your work and your thoughtfulness speak volumes for you. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 36Bloom Where You're Planted
Bloom where you're planted. Have you ever heard this phrase? It's a pretty popular saying, basically to remind people that they can and should let their light shine wherever it is that they find themselves. That phrase is really about excellence, about using your gifts no matter where you are and about being the best you now, where you are, on your way to where you're going. In this podcast episode we discuss why it's important to not despise the day of small beginnings and how you can enjoy the journey to your purpose, even if you don't like where you are right now. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts about this episode and how you plan to bloom in the place you're planted. S1 Ep 35Being Childlike
We intellectually know that we cannot be any younger than we are. In fact, each day that goes by makes us one day older. But many of us do things that help to give us a younger appearance, or if we're in our 40s-50s we may even do things to make us feel younger (read: mid-life crisis behaviors). None of these things truly work of course, but I wonder if perhaps we could try adding some other childlike behaviors that could be beneficial to us, to our physical, mental/emotional and even our spiritual health. In this podcast episode we discuss three simple things that children innately do, that if we incorporated them into our lives, we just might have less stress, more joy and a life more fulfilling than we ever thought possible. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts about this episode and how you plan to adopt some of these simple childlike behaviors. S1 Ep 34The Impact of Your Environment
There are many factors that go into goal achievement and yes, some of them start with proper goal setting. But there is one specific factor, that many people overlook on their journey to achievement. I sometimes refer to it as a silent disrupter because of how harmless it can be, at least in the beginning. It's your environment. In this podcast episode we discuss the impact of your environment on you and on your ability to achieve your goals and dreams. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts and how you plan to "clean up" your environment so you can become unstoppable! S1 Ep 33The Comfort Zone
The Comfort Zone. It should be called the "don't go anywhere good in life" zone. I tell you comfort is 100% the enemy of your greatness. Anything worthwhile achieving is going to cause discomfort or even outright pain. There is no avoiding it, it is guaranteed. But it is oh so worth it! In this podcast episode we discuss why it's so important to get out of your Comfort Zone and pursue the things that are truly on your heart to do. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts and what results you had when you finally decided to step out and leave your comfort zone behind. S1 Ep 32Wake Up To Your Life
When was the last time you took an assessment of your life in general? Is this where you thought you'd be when you were a child? How about the plans you had for yourself when you graduated from high school or college? This is something that often times gets overlooked as we blindly roll from one season into the next and before you know it a year has passed, or two or five. In this podcast episode we discuss why it's so important to WAKE UP to our lives and not let each day just pass us by, because we aren't promised tomorrow. And each day that goes by is a day we'll never have again. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know how you plan to Wake Up to your life! Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 31Decide
To Decide. It's the difference between success and failure, advancement and retreat, growth and stagnation. I once heard Tony Robbins describe the word decide as being derived from a Latin word that means "to cut off". When you cut something off, it means it is no longer a part of what is left. When you decide a thing, it can and does have impact. So, the next time you're faced with a decision, large or small, just remember the potential impact it carries and DECIDE wisely. In this podcast episode we discuss what it means to DECIDE and the impact of your decisions. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know how your decisions have impacted your life and the life of those around you. S1 Ep 30Focus
If you focus on negativity or how difficult something is, or on all the reasons why you cannot do something, then all those things that you're focusing on, will just get larger and large in your life. It's as if they gain even more strength the longer you focus on it. BUT, if you focus on all the things that could go right, all the reasons why the thing you're pursuing will work out in your favor, all the ways in which you are well-able, then those things will develop strength and show up and out even more in your life. In this podcast episode we discuss the whys and the hows of focusing on the RIGHT things. The things you want to see more of in your life. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know how you plan to focus on all that is good and how you will starve the negative voice. S1 Ep 29Self-Talk
What is self-talk? Well, essentially, it's talking to yourself, more specifically, the way in which you talk to yourself. Most times, it isn't positive and when we do engage in negative self-talk, we soon start to believe it for real and even worse, start acting on it. In this podcast episode we discuss three ways to help you avoid negative self-talk. After listening, feel free to send me a note letting me know how you plan to eliminate the self-talk in your life, so you can pursue the dreams and goals you have for yourself. S1 Ep 28Adversity
Adversity is a part of life. Try as we may, we cannot avoid it. Jesus Himself warned us of this very thing when He said, "In this world you will have trouble…." He didn't say you might, or there's a good chance, He said you WILL have trouble. Yet we tend to act so shocked, saddened, frustrated, angry or some combination therein when we face adversity. We cannot believe we have to deal with whatever it is that has befallen us. We worry, cry or complain to anyone who will listen to us about our plight, completely oblivious to the fact that that poor soul probably is suffering their own fair share of adversity. I believe that adversity can be a gift, if we understand and believe that life is always for us, not happening to us. If we are facing a challenge, if we are in the midst of difficult times, let's regulate our emotions, assess the situation, determine if there's some action we can and should take and let's never ever forget to learn something from it. Have you ever gotten into a discussion with someone, only to have it escalate into something you weren't expecting? Every now and again we engage in conversations or arguments with people and are treated like the crap on the bottom of someone's shoe. S1 Ep 21Time
Time is a valuable commodity. One could make the argument that it is THE most valuable commodity, because it is non-renewable. It is consumable, but non-renewable. This means when we use it or consume it, it ceases to exist. It cannot be regenerated. Take some time to consider the three steps below after listening to this episode and decide how you will begin to implement them in your life today. AWARENESS RESPECT BUFFERS Feel free to send me a note letting me know how you plan to adjust your own perspective as it relates to time so you can live a more fulfilling life. S1 Ep 20Your People - 4 Ps of Purpose
At the end of the day, when you discover your gifts, when you identify your passions, when you acknowledge that everything about you was created on purpose, you will realize that it was all done so that you can help and/or serve others. We each have been endowed with particular gifts and dreams, but they are not for our benefit only. Yes, we may enjoy them and yes, we may even use them to entertain others, but we must be very careful to not confuse the dream with the destiny. The gift and the dream have only been given so you can have a platform through which you can reach and impact others. Your People! Take a listen to this episode as I read a chapter from the book I'm writing on PURPOSE! If you haven't already listened to the first three chapters, go back and listen to the last three episodes on Your Possessions, Your Passions and Your Placement. Feel free to send me a note letting me know who are the people you are called to serve and also where you are on your mentor/mentee journey. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 19Your Placement - 4 Ps of Purpose
Have you ever stopped to think about the time and place into which you were born? Our background, our family, our city and country and even the time period in which we grew up, all play such a major part on who we become as adults. Our values, beliefs and perspectives have all been shaped and influenced by these things. As you journey towards discovering your purpose, you need to look deeper than just your gifts and passions. If it is here and if it is a part of you then it has meaning and purpose. The experiences you've encountered up to this point in your life serve as valuable components on your journey to discovery, because they helped to make you the person you are today. Take a listen to this episode as I read a chapter from the book I'm writing on PURPOSE! If you haven't already listened to the first chapter, go back and listen to the last two episodes on Your Possessions and Your Passions. Feel free to send me a note letting me know how the time, place and experiences that you've encountered, have impacted your journey and how you can use them to fulfill your purpose. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 18Your Passions - 4 Ps of Purpose
Many times, when we hear the word PASSION, we automatically associate it with something we love. But one Dictionary.com definition for passion is, "any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate." So we know that your passion can be something you either love or hate. This is important to remember because sometimes people miss their purpose because they are busy looking for the things they love, when in fact your purpose could be hidden within the thing you hate. Take a listen to this episode as I read a chapter from the book I'm writing on PURPOSE! If you haven't already listened to the first chapter, go back and listen to the episode on Your Possessions. Feel free to send me a note letting me know what things you know are passionate about, whether it's something you love or some injustice that you are passionate about resolving. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 17Your Possessions - 4 Ps of Purpose
Merry Christmas to you if you're celebrating! I hope you are surrounded by loved ones and are enjoying this happy holy season. I thought since we're in the gift-giving seasion, I should speak a little about our gifts. How we find them, how we should be using them, that we even have them is evidence of the purpose that awaits us. You have been created on purpose for a specific purpose and you have been given certain gifts and abilities to that end. If you do not yet know what your gifts are, you must do whatever you can to discover or uncover them. Take a listen to this episode as I read a chapter from the book I'm writing on PURPOSE! Feel free to send me a note letting me know what things you know are your gifts or if you're still not sure, let me know how you plan to explore some more to see what you uncover. S1 Ep 16Too Big
Sometimes in life we may come across an opportunity that sounds pretty exciting and that lights a fire inside us, but we shrink back because there are some elements that cause us to feel unsure. We spent so much of our youth not knowing things and having to learn, (sometimes the hard way), that now, we feel so established and comfortable, it feels scary to reach out to attempt something new. This is a mistake. The moment you feel yourself shrinking back from an opportunity, because you feel it's too big for you, I want you to remember to do three BIG things. Take a listen to this episode to learn these three key things, to help you move into your destiny. Feel free to send me a note letting me know what things you think are TOO BIG for you and how you plan to move forward anyway, to claim what's rightfully yours. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 15Judgement and Grace
As a recipient of the enormously extravagant gift of grace, the very least that I can do is pour out it back out unto others, any opportunity I get. So much of our society is about competition or strife, agendas and politicking. Very rarely do we hear about folks extending grace to each other, least of all if it comes at a disadvantage to the one extending grace. People operate in a zero-sum game. They believe if someone else is winning, is getting the advantage, then that means they're losing. THIS IS A LIE! We were created as relational beings; therefore, our aim should be to strengthen each other and build one another up. Feel free to send me a note letting me know your thoughts on judgement and grace. How have you been impacted by grace? In what ways can you extend grace to others. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. S1 Ep 14What's Your Perspective?
In all the years of studying personal development, one of the greatest things I've learned, is the ability to have perspective, specifically, to have multiple perspectives. Let's take life for example. What's your perspective of life? Is it a game, a journey, an adventure? Or perhaps your view is that life is battle, a climb, a task master? Your outlook on life whether you have consciously given it much thought or not will determine how you experience it. Our approach to life will determine the quality of our lives. If you are not happy, if you don't have joy, peace and love in your life right now, perhaps spend some time thinking about your life philosophy and consider what steps you can take to start changing your outlook. Feel free to send me a note letting me know what your life perspective is and how you plan to either shift it a bit or lean in more so you can experience the fullness that life has to offer. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 13Emotions: Friend or Foe?
Do you think being emotional is a weakness? As a child, I was always known as the "cry-baby" and it often made me feel weak, soft and really out of control. Until I realized that perhaps being so emotional wasn't a weakness, but instead, it was a strength....I just had to view it differently. I think our emotions sometimes get a bad rap. If you can dig a little deeper to find out the true purpose of our emotions, as well as the benefits that they provide, your perspective may shift a bit. A person who's mature emotionally, is one who has learned how to self-regulate, is emotionally intelligent and is able to use their emotions to their advantage instead of being used by them. Feel free to send me a note letting me know how you've used your emotions to your advantage or how you plan to shift your outlook a bit to increase your own EQ. S1 Ep 12Core Values
Most companies have a set of core values that speak to who they are. That is, a set of beliefs or principles which they use to guide them day-to-day. And it's not uncommon for individuals, particularly successful individuals to have their own set of personal core values, by which they live and hold themselves to. What about you? Do you have a set of core values, those beliefs or principles that serve as your compass in all your dealings? I do. I have five core values, three of which are my beacon: Gratitude, Service, Freedom, Family and Faith. There's a Core Values exercise you can do for yourself to help decifer your own set of core values. It's taken from a website called mybestself101.org and you can find that document here. Take some time and go through this exercise. It's quick and when you're done it will give you a better understanding of the things that are important to you. Your Core Values will hold you to account, direct you when you are uncertain and overall help you live the life you aspire to live Feel free to send me a note letting me know what your Core Values are and how they've helped you navigate your own life. S1 Ep 11What Do You See?
One of my favorite Scripture verses is Proverbs 23:7, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." What are you thinking about? Do you even know? The truth of the matter is you cannot go somewhere in the natural that you haven't been first in your mind. Meaning, unless you can see it in your mind, you'll never be able to hold it in your hands. We have this amazing ability from our Creator, the ability to see in our minds that which has not yet manifested in the natural. Let's not waste it bringing bad things or negativity into our lives. Let's allow ourselves to create the picture of our lives that we want so we can boldly move towards making it a reality. Feel free to send me a note letting me know the things you see, the things you're thinking about, intentionally, in an effort to change your future. Also, go ahead and send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. You can reach me directly at [email protected] or at any of the social platforms listed below. S1 Ep 10Your Morning Routine
Did you know that your morning routine is one of the most important factors to having a successful life? The first thing to understand is really a principle that you should adopt in every area of your life. That is the principle of intention. We are free-willed beings. That means we have the ability and the right to choose how we live our lives. We get to make our own decisions, think our own thoughts, and take the actions of our choosing. Your morning routine is no different. A proper morning routine is one that has order and structure, where you have intentions set for specific purposes, which you execute each morning and the result of that routine produces benefits in your life. Some of the advantages of having a good morning routine are: reducing your stress levels, give you clarity of thought, increase your learning and growth personally and spiritually and improve your overall health and wellness. In this podcast episode, I speak about waking up an hour earlier to establish your morning routine. But this can be done in stages. Perhaps try just 15 minutes earlier for one week and do one thing. Then increase by 10-15 minutes every week, adding another activity. I also highly recommend the book The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. After reading this, you may truly understand the benefits of having a solid structured morning routine. Feel free to send me a note letting me know how you plan to establish your morning routine and what new components you plan to implement. S1 Ep 9The Remedy For Job Dissatisfaction
Well, it's Monday and the beginning of a new work week. But, what should you do if you're in a bad situation at work? Perhaps your supervisor has it out for you, though you're not quite sure why. Maybe you have a jealous coworker who seems to sabotage your efforts or who spreads untrue rumors about you to others or your boss. Whatever the reason, here you are. Feeling stuck, wondering about your next move. Should you dust off that resume and start looking for something else? Is this even the right time to make a move like that? If it's a company and/or career path that you want, but you're caught in a bit of frustration, mild job dissatisfaction or interoffice conflict, might I suggest you don't throw in the towel just yet. Allow me to offer an alternate approach. Perspective and a few tactical tools might be just the remedy you need. Feel free to send me a note letting me know if this episode helped to shift your perspective and perhaps, how it's helping you develop your work ethic. S1 Ep 8Life Is Too Short
Have you ever heard the term "Mortality Motivation"? It's a term I first heard from one of my favorite online coaches is Brendon Burchard. Essentially, it's using death as a means to motivate you to do the things you know you should do. Yes, we all get caught up in the procrastination loop sometimes, where we keep putting off that "thing" that we know is in our hearts to do, waiting for the perfect time, the ideal circumstances to come along and then we'll do it. Look, the time is going to pass anyway. So, start the business, go back to school, create a ditch day for your kids and make some memories on purpose. It's not too late and it's also not a moment too soon. Today is all you have, so go be, do and have all that you can today! Feel free to send me a note letting me know how you plan stop procrastinating and start doing the thing you know you should be doing. Life is TOO short to keep putting it off. S1 Ep 7Embracing Change
The only thing that's constant is change. The problem is, most people don't like change, they resist it even. People like their routines, their habits, their own way of doing things. They don't want to leave their old way behind. Even if that old way is not good or beneficial for them. But I think we should embrace change. It can lead to learning and growth and while it might be unpleasant at first, it doesn't have to be as difficult as we sometimes make it out to be. In this podcast episode I use a framework called C.H.A.N.G.E to help provide you with a few tools you can use to embrace change in your life. Feel free to send me a note letting me know how you plan embrace change and even use it to your advantage. S1 Ep 6Be You!
This issue we have of pretending to be something we're not, is not partial to teens or young adults. As humans we all have this need for belonging. But to belong doesn't mean you need to lose yourself. In fact, true belonging is when you're accepted and have a sense of belonging within a certain group, for EXACTLY who you are, nothing more, nothing less. I once read a book by Sir Ken Robinson, called The Element. It was filled with stories about how people embraced their own uniqueness and how it's exactly what they were born to do and what the world needed. So what about you? Are you going to Be You? Feel free to send me a note letting me know how you plan embrace your own uniqueness and live your most authenthic self. S1 Ep 2Are You Growing?
Do you have a growth plan for your life and if you do, are you implementing it? If not, listen and learn how to use the word GROW as the framework for how to create a growth plan. I believe that growth is a key piece of our journey towards purpose. I believe we're born with certain gifts and talents, some which are evident and some which may lay dormant for many years. But when we get intentional about growing, about honing and developing ourselves and our skills, it becomes a never-ending journey, where we get better and better, day by day. I hope by listening to this episode you learn a little bit about me and my heart for you to help you in your own journey towards purpose! Feel free to send me a note letting me know how you're being intentional about growing and also send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. S1 Ep 5The Power Of Your Mind
What are you thinking about? What are the thoughts that are flowing through your mind? Do you understand the power of your thoughts? Just because a thought drops in your head, if it's negative, you don't have to keep thinking about it. It's very easy to ruminate, worry and let negative thoughts just fester in our minds. But it's so harmful and doesn't have to be this way. You can take control of your mind and think only the thoughts you want to think about. Once you understand this power that's within your reach, your life will be transformed! One of my favorite books on thoughts and the power of your mind is: The Power of Your Sub-Conscious Mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy Feel free to send me a note letting me know how about how you plan to take control of your thoughts and what you've learned or experienced since starting to implement these changes in your thinking. S1 Ep 1My Journey To Purpose
I want to invite you on this journey of growth, transformation and purpose and what better way to do this than to share with you my own journey to purpose! It has not always been an easy road for me, in fact, sometimes it was downright unbearable. Trigger warning: there is mention of sensitive mental health issues, so please be mindful of that. I hope by listening to this episode you learn a little bit about me and my heart for you to help you in your own journey towards purpose! Feel free to send me a note letting me know your own story and also send along any issues or topics you'd like me to discuss in future episodes. S1 Ep 3What About Your Habits?
Habits. We all have them. Good ones, bad ones, indifferent ones. But what are habits exactly? Habits are formed by the creation of neural pathways in our brains. Think of a train on a train track. It's the same with the habits we perform daily. We've done them so many times over the course of our lives that they've formed well-worn grooves in our brains, so that we don't even have to think about them to do them. If you want to learn more about habits and even more tips and tricks to help you break the bad ones and start new ones, I highly recommend these three books: Atomic Habits by James Clear The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg Feel free to send me a note letting me know how about any new habits you've implemented or any bad ones you're trying to eliminate. S1 Ep 4Self-Control Is NOT The Answer
We all hvae big goals and dreams, small habits and behaviors that we need to change, adjust or eliminate. Very often, we turn to self-control or willpower to help us acheive these goals. But this is a mistake! Self-control is like a muscle, which means it can be fatigued and them leave you high and dry. A better solution? Identity. Once you begin to identify with the behaviors you want to adopt, you'll start to see the changes you yearn for in your life. Feel free to send me a note letting me know how about any tips or tricks you've used to help you adopt the mindset you need to identify with the behaviors you want to develop.
