Her name, meaning “unbridled mare,” symbolizes freedom and nurturing care. As the daughter of Ares, the God of War, she was gifted a magical girdle that granted her power.
Hippolyta and the Amazons embody female empowerment, independence, and resistance to patriarchy. Their matriarchal society rejects traditional gender roles, training women as warriors.
