In this episode, Danielle (She's trained in psychedelic-informed practices) and I explore what it's like to integrate personal transformation into paddling and adventure sports. The episode is really about this integration rather than the specifics of psychedelic facilitation and a lot of our conversations surprised me (as someone who doesn't really "do drugs"). ---Danielle is a whitewater kayaking, kiteboarding, mountain biking, rock climbing, and snowboarding. She has spent the last 10 years living in the Hood River and White Salmon areas of Oregon and Washington where she has embraced a life as a full-time adventurer. At that point I honestly had no idea of the damage and what it turned out to be was truly incomprehensible. My home is okay, but so many folks' are not. S1 Ep 61E61: I'm Jewish! Reflections from my 10 Day Break from Paddling.
Download the Own Your Shit Resource----Today's episode is a bit different than most of my content, but it's a conversation that many folks have asked me about and I've been timid about sharing my perspective. On July 4th, 2024, I returned from my Birthright Trip to Israel to explore my Jewish Identity and connection to Israel, the Jewish Homeland. The first half of the episode is about my Jewish Identity, how it relates to my paddling, and what a birthright trip is. The second half goes more in depth about my reflections on the current state of Israel. Disclaimer: I am not claiming to support everything Israel is doing right now it the war, nor am I claiming to be against Israel. This episode was created by the request of folks in my life who want to hear my perspective first hand. Please respond with KINDNESS and CURIOSITY. ---Resources: BirthrightHistory of IsraelMisinformationHamas in their Own WordsHamas CovenantBecca Ploener is an Adventure Life Coach and Whitewater Kayak Instructor based out of Asheville, NC.
