S1 Ep 49TWP 049: Becky Lauridsen - I Owe Me!

Welcome to episode number 49- I Owe Me. In this episode I interview Becky Lauridsen. Becky is a wife to a handsome cowboy, a mother to two beautiful girls, a career woman, and the proud founder and lead supporter of IOME. She lives in Northern Colorado with her dogs, horses, a pony named bubbles and one goat named dog! She sees a therapist on a regular basis, takes naps, showers (almost daily), washes her face every night, wears makeup, goes to church, cusses a little, takes bubble baths, goes on long walks, and binge watches Netflix when she needs to “check out”. Becky is also a licensed professional counselor. As a counselor, and also in her own personal life, it became alarmingly clear to her that women do not get enough self-care in their day-to-day lives. The majority of women are dealing with things like anxiety, depression, guilt, past trauma, low-self esteem, feelings of stress, excessive fear, poor body image, and limiting beliefs. Just to name a few. The worst part of it is, women think it is completely “normal” to feel this way. That somehow, they are naturally supposed to live like this and there is nothing they can do about it. Becky believes that you do not have to simply survive life! You can have your cake and eat it too; you can be the best mother and career women. The best wife and mother. The best friend and boss babe. You deserve the best, and your family deserves the best of you. In our conversation we dive into Becky’s own experience with postpartum depression and one day feeling like she woke up to the fact that she was just going through the motions of life. There is so much goodness in this interview and I cannot wait for you to hear it! You can connect with Becky in the following places: * Her website- https://www.iowemenow.com/ * Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/iowemenow * Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/iowemenow Also, you can find the Prenatal Emotional Awareness Course we talk about in this episode HERE. S1 Ep 41TWP 041: Bethel Jiricek - Creating Your Own Solution

Welcome to episode #41! In this episode I get to chat with the wonderful Bethel Jiricek. Bethel was a former paralegal before discovering her true passion. Now a mother of four and trained esthetician, Betherl once struggled to find a chemical-free cream to help with her son’s eczema. She took matters into her own hands, experimenting with approximately 100 or so different recipes before she found one that soothed his regular breakouts. As a result, Bethel channeled her passion for effective, natural products into the creation of affordable, natural and organic skin care. Today, that passion is know as Green Eyed Grace Professional skin care, and its comprehensive line of pure, all-natural products are sold in Northern Colorado boutiques as well as Natural Elements Skin Spa and in the online store. Bethel is a great friend of mine and it was fun to be able to talk with her. We get to hear her early story of becoming a mom at 15 and many of the hardships faced on the way to launching her own product line and to where she is now with a wonderful family and thriving and growing business. Her perseverance in life and determination to create what was needed to help her children is truly inspirational! I loved that she said her final lotion success came somewhere around batch number 86. This is such an important message for all of us. If you’re creating something… it’s not going to be perfect the first time. Keep going, keep trying, keep moving forward. It will all be worth it and all make sense at some point and you will be so glad you didn’t give up! Bethel says it best… don’t let your current situation define you! S1 Ep 30TWP 030: Kate Johnson - Be Your Own Advocate

This week on The We Podcast, my guest is Kate Johnson. Originally from Delaware, Kate now calls Greeley, CO home along with her husband of 10 years and their two energetic, yet adorable young boys who are 5 and 1. She loves living in Greeley because of the people, the delicious craft brews, and the ability to travel between the mountains and eastern plains. After working in the Corporate world for 8 years, Kate became a CrossFit coach 3.5 years ago. She loves working with people to find their strengths, gain confidence, and reach their goals. As a result of her own experience with a difficult delivery as well as pelvic floor issues, Kate is passionate about working with pregnant and postpartum women to help educate, empower, and support them as they navigate this chapter of life. She is a Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Coach and has worked with some of the best fitness professionals and physical therapists in the world to better educate and understand considerations for women in all stages of life. Kate started her business, TulaFit, earlier this year and offers educational workshops in conjunction with local Pelvic Floor Physical Therapists, as well as consultations, private coaching, and online programming. During the interview we may say the V- word (hint hint… vagina) a few times so if that offends you don’t listen! We chat about lots of things that mamas need to know post pregnancy. This is stuff that’s got to be normalized in conversations. Not only between women but with health care providers and anyone who is on a women’s team to success and ultimate health in every area. Our bodies are beautiful gifts and not something we should be ashamed to speak about. If that’s the case, we will never get to optimal functioning. Thank you for speaking it out loud and proud Kate! We all benefit from you taking a less than ideal situation and using it to live your passion! This episode of The We Podcast is brought to you by The We Community. S1 Ep 28TWP 028: Christina Schnellmann - Knowing What You’re Made Of

This week on The We Podcast my guest is Christina Schnellmann. Let me just begin by saying that I was completely mesmerized by her story. Christina is a wife, mom of three boys, and entrepreneur. For years she felt a tug at her heart that she was made for a larger purpose, but felt unsure of what direction she should take. She takes us through a course of events that led her to today and her ability to understand what she is indeed capable of. These events include her brothers survival of being a victim of the Columbine School Shooting, all the way to December of 2016, when her mentally ill mom and brother disappeared from their homes in Colorado. It wasn’t until 6 months later, she received a life changing phone call from a stranger informing her that her brother was living homeless in the streets of Santa Cruz, Bolivia. With her older brother by her side, Christina headed to search for her brother in hopes to return him and her mom home safely to the U.S. This journey, forever marked her heart. And we are so blessed that she is sharing it with us. This is the longest episode I have ever done… and believe me you must listen to the very end! I am just blown away by Christina and her light and heart. She believes if you are given a set of experiences, especially if you can see a theme, you have an obligation to share in these experiences so others might seek comfort, empowerment, strength or an ability to grieve because of what you have shared. I couldn’t agree more! We are SO blessed she shared with us! This is her first time sharing her story publicly, and there is no doubt this won’t be her last. Just a heads up to check out the photo for the podcast which is of Christina and her brother (Mark) taken the day after they found him in the Benito Menni Clinic. So much is captured in this amazing photo! If you would like to connect with Christina you can find her on Facebook (Christina Taylor Schnellmann). She’s also a Greeley, Colorado native and loves building and growing meaningful relationships and community in her hometown. This is a very real and raw interview. I have always admired Samantha’s ability to be vulnerable and put it out there. Which is what The We Podcast is really all about! She talks candidly about the events that lead up to her own health issues and being told she would have to live a life of massive medication or have a complete hysterectomy at the age of 18. Her journey is a challenging one and what I love most is that she calls it her redemption story. You have your own redemption story as well my friend!
