S1 Ep 5454. When You Feel Lost in Motherhood

Welcome to the kitchen table with Bethany Kimsey! Have you ever walked away from an interaction with one of your children and thought, “I have NO IDEA what to do?” Motherhood can leave us floundering in our thoughts. Sometimes we don’t know what to do with the situation that has presented itself. It leaves us feeling befuddled. Bethany Kimsey encourages us that we can find refuge and an invitation in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. We can call to Him even in the day to day, in the potty training, in the sleepless baby, in the mood swings of our teenagers, and God will answer. Mama, He understands these great and hidden things. He has given us a great task, and at times it can feel so daunting but I share how to step into the throne room and trust God’s invitation. S1 Ep 5353. Celebrating the Holidays with Purpose with Steph

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Do you often feel that the true meaning of Christmas gets lost? Are you searching for ideas on traditions and ways you can keep Jesus at the forefront of this holiday season? Well, if so, you're in the right place. This week on WGBT, Bethany sits down with Stephanie Thurling, the co-founder of Raising Prayerful Kids. Steph and Bethany sit down in a great conversation about how we can keep the true meaning alive as we approach the holiday season. They provide concrete ideas for activities and traditions that you can do with your own family. Often Jesus takes the backseat as gifts, decorations, and festivities are at the forefront of the holiday season. They remind us that more is less during the Christmas season and that the best way to keep Jesus in our Christmas celebrations is to have him present in our daily lives. By reminding our children that Jesus is the real reason for the holiday season it can help your family to enjoy the holiday on a more meaningful level. Whether you set aside time to pray every day, participate in advent, or have your own family tradition. It's important to remember that Jesus is the reason we celebrate. Connect with Steph: Steph Thurling is a co-founder of Raising Prayerful Kids, a ministry that equips and encourages parents to be praying with their kids in a meaningful way. S1 Ep 5252. Raising Kids in God's Wisdom

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week, Bethany is continuing her conversation with her husband Troy. They define wisdom and provide you with a foundation on what teaching wisdom might look like at our children's different ages and stages. Bethany and Troy discuss how wisdom plays a role in navigating life to understand better who we are and who God is. However, using a wisdom approach in parenting demands more time as you accompany your child throughout their journey of learning wisdom. It requires deeper conversations, explanations, and more than just a simple no response. They go through the various stages in your child's life to give you a clearer picture of what a wisdom-based approach might look like in your parenting. This allows children to process their decisions and to walk in light of God and his wisdom. Bethany and Troy have provided key questions in helping you work this out across the different ages and stages more practically. These questions give you concrete examples of how to implement this in your parenting, but these questions allow you to understand your child's thought processes better. Do you think this decision is/was wise? What would make this decision unwise? What would God say about this decision? What in you made you desire to make this decision? Who is God? Who are you? What is God's standard? Why would God say this is wise? Why would God say not to do this? As a parent, why would I be concerned about this decision? What concerns would God have? What concerns do you have? You can head to Bethany's website to share comments, questions or to drop a quick note. S1 Ep 5151. Teaching Wisdom When You Feel at Odds with Your Child

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week, Bethany is joined by her husband Troy to talk about wisdom and the role it can play in gospel-centered parenting. As parents, we often feel at odds with our children, and too often, we find ourselves arguing with our children, causing strain on our relationships. Bethany and Troy provide experience, advice, and scripture that will help you parent confidently and in a way that points to God. Instead of parenting in the realm of right vs. wrong, Bethany and Troy instead guide us in helping our children understand the role of wisdom in making decisions. They visit ways to help our children grow in their journey with God rather than focusing on their ability to produce positive behaviors. Bethany and Troy give concrete ways to communicate with your child on whether decisions are wise or unwise. Using wisdom challenges your child to think through the process and reflect on the positives and negatives of their choices. In turn, this encourages conversations of decision-making and wisdom between your child and God. You can head to Bethany's website to share comments, questions or to drop a quick note. S1 Ep 5050. Rest in the Holidays

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany is taking time to have a conversation about rest before we head into the hustle of the holiday season. For many of us, rest feels elusive and unattainable. Maybe you are teetering on the edge with holiday planning, your children's schedules, or the demand to get everything done. Bethany shares her own story of when God helped Bethany refocus when she was misplacing her idea of rest. He helped her develop a clearer vision of what it means to place rest in Jesus's hands. Today, Bethany uses a story in scripture to help you get a clearer vision and understanding of how Jesus views rest. Bethany tells us a story from Mark. And she reminds us that in Mark 6:31, Jesus offers an invitation of rest to the disciples. She provides us with examples throughout scripture where Jesus emphasizes the importance of rest. Bethany hopes you will learn from scripture to pause, reflect, and reset. His words will help you fix what you view as rest. He truly understands our needs, and he will not abandon us during our time of rest. But instead, he calls to us. Important scriptures for rest Mark 6:31 And he said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while." 1 Peter 1:13-141 Peter 2:25Matthew 11:28-30 Hebrews 4:9 Isaiah 26:3 Psalm 4:8 Psalm 23 You can head to Bethany's website to share comments, questions or to drop a quick note. S1 Ep 4949. How Do I Parent Free of Tension in the Teens?

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany is diving into the topic of parenting free of tension. Many mamas have reached out to Bethany, asking how she has relationships with her teen daughters free of tension. Bethany reminds us that a tension-free relationship with children is a false narrative. In all parent-child relationships, there are misunderstandings, miscommunication, and failure on both ends. These relationships are ever-evolving. In this week's episode, you will hear Bethany share four important reminders she keeps at the forefront of her mind regarding her relationships with her daughters. Prayer: the importance of praying for your children. Give pursuit: Pursue our children the way God pursues us. Active presence: Being aware and practicing being present with your children. Understanding God's peace: When you understand his peace in your life, you can pour this onto your children. You will also hear insight from Bethany's daughter on the topic of loneliness and isolation and the impact they have on our children. Bethany talks about the enemy's role as well as the Holy Spirit's role. Bethany invites you to reach out to her if you are struggling with any of these four things. You can head to Bethany's website to share comments, questions or to drop a quick note. You can also subscribe to her newsletters for encouragement, free resources, new content, and more. S1 Ep 4747. Table Talk with the Kimsey Daughters Part Two: Meeting Sin with Grace

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany invites you to sit down with her and her three daughters as they continue to share their own experiences on their walk with Christ. Bethany reminds us of the calling the Lord has given us all in our role as mothers. We are to be their catalyst, pointing them to the Lord and helping them see how they can turn to the holy spirit. Bethany shares how she didn't provide shame or judgment in each moment of sin or weakness, but instead, she reminded her children that this is an opportunity to take it to Christ. We, as mamas, have been invited to a sacred conversation with God. He holds out his hand and asks us to not only walk with him and our children but to be an active voice in prayer. Bethany's daughters share how being met graciously in times of sin was a glimpse into God's grace and a reminder of a need for a savior. S1 Ep 4646. Table Talk with the Kimsey Daughters Part One: Overcoming Perfectionism

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany invites you to sit down with her and her three daughters, Kendall, Abby Grace, and Anna Claire. For the next few weeks, Bethany sits down with her girls to discuss how moms and daughters can interact and how the gospel plays into their relationship. They visit how different temperaments, struggles, world experiences, and scenarios play a vital role. Bethany hopes this is a time where you as a mom can understand a bit more clarity on how you can partner and walk with God as he engages and guides your children on their journey. Bethany and her daughters discuss five concepts that will guide their conversations throughout the next few weeks. The girls share how they struggled, combatted, and persevered. Identity: Understanding where you find identity and where you are tempted to find an identity. Comparison: What does it look like? How does it motivate and blind you? Perfectionism: How does it play into your mindset. Surrender: How important it truly is. An Active Army: The idea of being actively engaged in a faith walk with the lord. S1 Ep 4545. Oaks of Righteousness: A Growth System with God

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany invites you to sit back with a cup of coffee, to relax a bit, and listen as she shares the story that realigned her heart, offering her peace, understanding, and commitment to God's plan in developing a solid root system for her children. Bethany shares a personal story of an oak shrub, a Bradford pear tree, and a strong storm helped shift her into a moment of truth and understanding that God develops a solid root system in her children. He taught her that her timing and wish for fast fruit is not his plan but to accept and walk with him. He has instead invited her into his to plan a growth system that is strong, long-lasting, and rooted in him. He is working to raise oaks of righteousness in our children that are so strong that it cannot be uprooted. But, as parents who are walking with Jesus, we can hold tight to his hand and his word, continue to be a student of your child, be an ambassador of reconciliation, and trust in his growing root system. Although we may not always see his work, he is pursuing our children on his time because he is committed to each one of them. S1 Ep 4444. Confidently Disciplining with Grace

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Bethany is so excited to have you join her on the podcast this week as she talks about the overwhelming stress of disciplining your children in a way that not only provides you with confidence but grace, too. Bethany shares the importance of understanding that Jesus has died for your sin and to compel this understanding onto your children. We must act as ambassadors of reconciliation so that our children understand that Jesus has come to set you free. As parents, there is a lot of pressure to raise successful, and perfect children but that isn’t what Jesus is asking of us. Instead he reminds us that law was put in place to point us to jesus. He is asking that you teach your child about Christ’s love. We have rules in our home not to create the perfect child nor for them to live up to but instead as a roadway to Jesus. When you change your expectation to accept that rules will be broken you begin to become an ambassador of reconciliation. You can instill this in your home by asking your child these questions What does this display about your heart? What can you and Jesus do to change your heart? You walk with your kids and meet them with compassion when rules are broken and remind them they cannot measure up to Christ but instead this is his invitation to walk with him. S1 Ep 4343. Parenting Intentionally in Overwhelming Moments Part 2

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany is talking all about intentionally parenting our kids when we reach a point of feeling overwhelmed. She dives into the importance of genuinely learning about our children and becoming a student individually. And how to shift our mindset into learning about their needs, strengths, weaknesses, and personalities and the way it ultimately changes the goal of parenting. God has uniquely created each of our children, and he reminds us that we cannot parent them with a one-size-fits-all approach. Parenting perfectly is an unrealistic expectation of ourselves, but when parenting surrendered to God, we can parent in a way that is unified with the One who does parent perfectly. Bethany guides us with concrete examples to focus on to help aid you as you learn to parent your children intentionally. To make informed and conscious parenting decisions, we must understand how our children take in the world. What are your child's drives? What pleases or frustrates them? At what speed do they move through life? Fast-paced vs. slow-paced. How do they communicate? What are their sin areas? Where do you see your child struggling the most? What has changed? Better or worse? Where are they spiritually? How do they view themselves physically? Bethany reminds us that we must let go of the driver's seat. This is where God is. Sit with him and ask him to show you the things about your child that you don't know or the things you need to see. You walking with God is the best solution for parenting your children. S1 Ep 4242. Parenting Intentionally in Overwhelming Moments Part 1

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week, Bethany addresses the question, how can I be intentional with my kids when I feel burnt out? Many moms probably feel this way, and you want to teach, have meaningful conversations, and plan fun activities. But, by the end of the day, you feel defeated, burnt out, and you don’t have the energy. Bethany is walking in the same shoes, but she gives guidance, encouragement, and scripture to help you find a middle ground. When we let the Holy Spirit tend to us, it begins to reframe our minds to be set on the gospel. God is the only one who can fill us when we feel defeated and overwhelmed in motherhood. Bethany shares how she must see, hear, and constantly be reminded of the truth that Jesus says. She engages with the five truths when she reaches feelings of overwhelm, anger, or resentment. The Five Truths When Life Feels Crazy God Chose You- Matthew 11:28-29 God Engages and Listens- Psalm 116: 1-2 & Psalm 66:19 God Leads and Equips You- Isaiah 42:16 & Isaiah 40:11 God Has Compassion on You- Psalm 103: 13-14 God Brings Peace- Psalm 62: 1-2 & 1 Peter 1:2 In moments of mess, God has compassion for you. S1 Ep 4141. Table Talk with Rachel Fahrenbach: Comparison

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany sits down with Rachel Fahrenbach, where they share their struggles, stories, and triumphs on the lie of comparison. All women compare themselves to a standard, whether it is to other women, an internal measurement, or how we were raised. Rachel provides truth and a lens on how resting with God can bring you peace, clarity, and contentment. Rachel and Bethany remind us there is no true standard that God puts us to, and he gave us our children for a reason. And, to remind yourself that what your life looks like on the outside to others is not a reflection of what goes on behind your walls or who you are as a person, mother, or spouse. Rachel discusses the importance of Sabbath, sitting with Christ each week across from one another to unfold and reflect on the week. This space is different from prayer time, Bible study, or Sunday morning worship. This is dedicated time where you sit in your thoughts, experiences, and moments for him to speak truth into your life. This is a place of abounding grace, not condemnation. What others think or say does not define you; what God says about you explains you. This dedicated time can help bring you peace when you feel the attack of lies from the enemy. If you are interested in learning more about Rachel, you can find her bio below: Rachel Fahrenbach is the author of Rest & Reflect, a guided journal that helps you implement a rhythm of rest and reflection in your week through the practice of Sabbath. Her desire to see moms reclaim a deep joy and stabilizing piece in their weeks by actively choosing to rest. S1 Ep 4040. Lies of Motherhood: Comparison

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany tackles the last lie of the series, comparison. Comparing our lives to others causes us to feel that we do not measure up in one way or another. The enemy does his very best to convince us to feel defeated, discouraged, and inadequate in different aspects of your life. But, God invites us to anchor tightly in his word to declare the truth. Romans 3: 21-24, 28 explains how God freely makes us right in his sight through his grace. Bethany shares how Titus 3: 4-7 has been one of her favorite scriptures and how there is not a single act of work that you can do to make God save you anymore than he already has.. These two passages declare that God doesn’t love us because of our performance or the work we do. He loves us, period. Many of us were conditioned to believe that love and success are contingent on performance alone, leading us to compare our lives to others leaving us feeling inadequate. But, never one did God say that our value is based on how our children turn out. God is instead reaching out his hand with a sacred invitation to parent our children surrendered to him. What matters is that you are walking with God in his glory while he guides and leads you to make wise decisions. Head to Bethany’s website to share anything you would like for her to answer. S1 Ep 3939. Table Talk with Caroline Collie and Kristy Wallace: The Fear of Falling Behind/Missing Out

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany is joined by two of her closest friends Caroline Collie and Kristy Wallace as they share their stories, experiences, and battles with the lie of falling behind and missing out. They provide insight and perspective on how they have battled this lie with profound advice on how to keep moving forward. As with all of the other lies we have spoken about, the enemy ultimately has us asking ourselves the same three questions. Did God really say that?Is God really good?Is God for you? The enemy attacks you, sending you into discontentment, and he leads you to believe that God made a mistake when he chose you as the mother of your children. It’s important to recognize these lies as they begin to creep in, anchor yourself in his word, and remember the ways he has been good in the past. If you are interested in learning more about Kristy and Caroline, you can check out their bios below. Kristy Wallace is an occupational therapist, wife, and mother. Kristy has seen the importance of resilience as we navigate all the things life throws our way. Through her writing and speaking, Kristy invites women to consider how we can partner with the work God is doing to transform our thinking, wellness, relationships, and sense of meaning and purpose. The resilience that is rooted in the good news of Jesus is the anchor we need in these challenging times. You can find her on Instagram and Facebook @KristyPWallace. Caroline Collie is a homeschooling Mom with four kids born on three different continents. She is married to her South African Hero Hubs, loves Jesus and dark chocolate (in that order), and writes, speaks, and creates resources to help people find deeper, more meaningful relationships with God and each other by focusing on better communication. S1 Ep 3838. Lies of Motherhood: The Lie of Falling Behind/Missing Out

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany dives into the lie of missing out or the feeling that you are falling behind. In this episode, she talks about how the enemy preys on our minds, causing us to compare ourselves and long for something different in life. Whether you stay home with your children, home-school, or work full time, this lie often makes you feel you aren’t measuring up and begins to cause us to feel discontent with our current season of life. Bethany shares how she ties herself to the gospel, creating a sturdy foundation. This foundation has equipped her to focus on God and to combat the enemy and his lies. The gospel reminds us to hold steady and to set our minds on the things above. It doesn’t mean you won’t have feelings of envy or inadequacy. But understanding the gospel helps us surrender to God, and with that, we can repent and be content in our holy calling. Colossians 3:1-4, are the pivotal verses that are the foundation for Bethany’s walk with Jesus. Bethany’s ability to root herself in these verses has aided in shifting to set her mind on the things above. Head to https://bethanykimsey.com to share anything you would like for her answer. S1 Ep 3737. Table Talk with Pamela Henkelman: I Will Mess Up My Kids

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany is joined by dear friend Pamela Henkelman to talk more deeply into the lie that we are messing up our kids. The enemy creeps into our lives with lies that begin to shape how we view ourselves as mothers, and we start to believe that we have failed our children. Pamela shares her lens on parenting adult children and how although her children are grown, she still falls ill to these lies. Bethany and Pamela talk about how anchoring yourself in his truth helps us to feel confident. And, instead, we can pour out our fears into God, knowing that he is walking by our side. These lies are not a one-time thing but standing in God’s truth can help us refute the enemy as the lies surface.. Our child’s journey is not our journey, and when we parent surrender to God and trust that he is committed to both ourselves and our children, it guides us towards peace. We can trust God, and the great plans he has for our children. Through prayer, we can partner with God in the work he is doing for our children. Pamela is an enthusiastic encourager with a passion to speak, write, and coach. She believes all of life flows from our intimacy with God. S1 Ep 3535. Table talk with Michelle Krol: You are Alone

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Bethany sits down this week for an open and honest chat with Michelle Krol about what it looks like when we hear the lie that we are alone. As a mother, your life drastically changes and it becomes so easy to buy the lie of isolation. We long to feel connected, valued, and related to others. When we feel isolated and alone, the enemy whispers lies that distort our heart and mind. Hebrews 13: 5-6 remind us that “he will never leave you nor forsake you.” When we feel disconnected from our community, family, and our friends the enemy attempts to place power over us. Michelle shares her wisdom on battling this lie and how she roots herself in God’s word. She provides valuable lessons and scriptures on turning to his truth to defeat the enemy and his lies. Michelle Krol guides moms in grace to embrace the ministry within the walls of their own homes and across their kitchen tables. As a writer, speaker, and founder of A Rooted Home, she is devoted to helping families grow together in Christ. Michelle has been married for twenty years to her good guy, is mom to a crew of five boys and calls a sweet suburb of Chicago home. Thanks to her boys, she has learned to chase the joy in unexpected adventures and to always bring plenty of snacks and band-aids along. A Rooted Home Shop is launching now! S1 Ep 3333. Table talk with Brittany-Control

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany’s friend Brittany joins her as they talk about the need to control all that is going on. Another lie that mothers are often faced with, whether it is rooted in fear or the drive to be perfect, most mothers are often struggling with the desire to control it all. Bethany shares her own experiences on how she has often wrestled and struggled with the mindset of wanting to control all the different aspects of motherhood. Control is an insidious lie, because it declares that we can and should handle things ourselves. But instead we can begin to walk in what God has planned for each and everyone one of us. We so easily compare ourselves to other moms and fear we aren’t measuring up to others. We fear that if we do not have it perfectly, we will fail. Ask yourself what is the Lord’s standard for me? Declaring your praise to God will help you begin to combat the fear and grow towards feeling confident in who you are as a mother and a person. God is with you, and he will help you, strengthen you, and give you a hand as you walk through the days of motherhood. Brittany shares her story of how God took her through a season of loss to find his perfect peace. Her testimony encourages listeners to believe truly how good God is. S1 Ep 2828. Walking with your fearful child

Welcome back to the kitchen table! This week Bethany is sharing some things God has been teaching her lately about how to deal with fear in our kids. Our first instinct as a parent is to want to make that fear go away. We want to talk it out and rationalize it with our child. But, what if we approach this with a more Kingdom focused perspective. What if instead of rationalizing it away, we help our child understand why they have fear and how to lean on God through that. We can use something even like a child’s fear to equip them in their faith. Sometimes this takes a mindset shift. Bethany shares the 3 P’s of mindset shift that God has been showing her lately. Presence Patience Point to the truth. These three P’s work together to show us how to approach a child who is fearful and how to help them find Power in God to overcome it. S1 Ep 2525. How to have gospel conversations with your young adults

Welcome back to the kitchen table! This week, Bethany is continuing our talk of how to have gospel conversations with each of the different ages and stages. This week we are focusing on the young adult age. This can be such a fun time for our kids, maybe not always for us moms though! This can be a time filled with worry as we watch our children take on the world and see them begin to make life impacting decisions on their own. Maybe your child has entered this age and they already know Jesus. Bethany is walking us through how to support that child to always choose Jesus and put a kingdom perspective on every decision they make. Or maybe, your child has entered this stage and they are not saved. Maybe you are wondering how to help them when they don’t even realize their need for God. S1 Ep 2424. Table Talks with Troy: Gospel Conversations with Teens

Welcome back to the kitchen table! This week Bethany is sitting down with Troy again to talk about their experiences in the teen years. Specifically, how do we share the gospel with kids in this age in a way that will be beneficial to them. Whether we like it or not, they will be getting ready to soon leave the home. We can only pray that we have trained and equipped them to handle the world they are going out to. Most importantly, we want to know that their faith can withstand the struggles they will face in life. This is the point in their life where their faith may not always make things easy, and choosing Jesus could start costing them things like friends or popularity. We have to ensure our children know how to continually choose Jesus in every situation and seek out his wisdom. Because when mom and dad aren’t there anymore, it’s just them and God. We have to know they are prepared for that. S1 Ep 2323. Table Talks with Troy: Gospel Conversations with Toddlers, Elementary Age, and Tweens

Welcome back to the kitchen table! This week Bethany is joined by her husband Troy as they share their journey together through all the different ages and stages with their own kids. Troy walks with us today through his perspective on the toddler, preschool, middle school, and tween years. Bethany and Troy share some of their challenges from each stage and how they have overcome those. They are reminding us today that while we want to raise good kids, we really should be focusing on raising kids that love Jesus. When rules are broken, we don’t want to see this just as a time to correct that behavior. Instead, we want to focus on learning what our child’s sin tendency was that cause that behavior, where they are with God in their life, and use that broken rule as a means to bring the Gospel alive in their life. S1 Ep 2121. How to Have Gospel Conversations with Tweens

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week we are still talking about all the ages and stages. Today we are talking about the tween years. That’s the new term, right?! This is the age of middle school years, where they are becoming independent, they are figuring out their true identity, and starting to learn the why behind what they know. Bethany shares that during this stage we want to focus on teaching our child the why behind the gospel. Why do they believe what they believe, why do we need repentance, why did Jesus have to die? Our kids have to understand the why, so that they are prepared to defend the gospel. Today on the podcast, Bethany is sharing How to help your child when they want to start pushing you away Helping your child understand that their true identity is in Christ and it only matters what He says about them Walking our child through their struggles and their sinful nature. S1 Ep 2020. How to Have Gospel Centered Conversations with Elementary Age Kids

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany is continuing the talk about how to have those gospel centered conversations with kids in every age and stage of life. This week we are focusing on the elementary age. Maybe you have a child in that stage, maybe you will have one soon, or perhaps your child has already been through that phase but you just want to reflect on that time. Either way this week is for you! The elementary phase is an interesting one because they are still little enough that they want to do everything with mommy but big enough that you can begin having real conversations with them. They love jokes and stories as they move from a concrete thinker to a more abstract thinker. This is the phase where we can begin to unfold the gospel to our child and how Jesus shows himself in all the great stories of the bible and our life still today. Welcome back to the kitchen table! This week Bethany is diving into how to have those gospel conversations with the toddler age. If you are currently in those terrible 2’s momma, then this one's for you! The toddler phase is full of curiousness and exploration. This is a phase where the world is just entrancing and exciting for them. But as our kids walk through this exploration phase, this is a time that we can begin helping them explore God and how he is in every piece of their life. This week Bethany is sharing: How to include God in every conversation you have with your child How to help your child see the goodness of God through your correction of them The truth is, the toddler phase is full of a lot of correcting. Days are spent saying “no, don’t do that, or please stop that!”It can get wearisome and you begin to think it's just your kid or maybe you're doing something wrong. I know these moments make you feel hopeless and like you are just annoyed with your child. But have hope because you have Jesus. Do not accept those lies mama! S1 Ep 1717. How Do We Walk in Joy?

Welcome back to the kitchen table! Pull up a seat today as Bethany is talking about finding Joy through God’s grace. Surprisingly enough, the word joy doesn’t have anything to do with a feeling at all. The word joy in greek means grace recognized. Some days it is hard to find Joy. Maybe it’s your kids not listening, they are fussing and fighting, or maybe you just have a million things on your to-do list for the day. It’s hard to feel joy in these moments! Then we start to think, if it's hard to find joy in these light afflictions, what are we going to do when the hard stuff hits? God promises us his grace in all the moments. God’s grace rescues us. His grace can release us from the bondage of the places that we feel held back or ashamed. The gospel changes everything. This week Bethany shares 5 ways that God’s Grace can help us become anchored in Joy in our daily lives. It changes the way we walk We don’t get burdened down as easy, but we know to quickly go to our source of Grace. No matter how many times I have to go back and be reminded of this grace. It changes our sight God is the one we can run to in everything with our sight locked on him. Grace helps us recognize he is the one we need to see. It can deepen our faith In the painful and hard moments we walk through, this will become our anchor. It helps us introduce faith to others We get to share this grace with our kids and be the aroma of Jesus to our kids. It is promised that you will be filled with his joy Romans 15:13 says, “may the God of hope fill you with all the joy and peace” This is the way we walk, and this is what we put our hope in. S1 Ep 1616. Why Do We Need Friends?

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Grab a cup of coffee and get ready to spend some time with Bethany as she shares about why friends can be so important. When we think about our friends, a dozen things come to our mind. Fun times, good laughs, a person to talk with, a shoulder to cry on. But have you ever stopped to think about what God says about friendship? In Exodus 17 we see the depiction of what true friendship should look like, When they are in the midst of battle, Moses is weary and tired. He is at that point where he cannot do it alone anymore. The Israelites come and they help hold his arms for him and give him companionship when he is unable to do it for himself. This allows him to keep that staff raised high. We are all on that battlefield and we all reach that breaking point from time to time where we just don’t think we can do it anymore. God’s design for friendship is to help hold each other up through those times. Through it all, we are called to hold high the banner of Jesus. But sometimes, mama, we get tired and we need help. We need friends that can help us hold that banner up and can keep speaking gospel truths to us in this moment so that we can keep speaking them to our kids. Join Bethany this week as she talks about God’s design for friendship. How to help your friend when they just can’t go on alone. How to admit when you are in that place of needing a friend to hold you up. Don’t forget to head over to https://bethanykimsey.com to grab your copy of the free prayer guide. S1 Ep 1515. How Do We Pray for Our Kids?

Welcome back to the kitchen table! Today Bethany is sharing what it means to truly pray like a grace filled warrior. Do you ever feel like prayer is just another thing on your checklist? You know that you are supposed to pray for your family but after you do, you are still in this place of doubt. Did He really hear me? Did I say the right things? What if I don’t have enough faith? Mama, that is not how God designed prayer to be. He didn’t design it to be a checklist, or an ATM where we just put in our Christianity card and get our desired result. Prayer is the place that God calls you and me. In Episians 6 Paul says, “pray all times in the spirit in prayer and supplication”. God intended for us to seek him out in prayer. Whatever our need or our problem may be, he just wants to lend his ear to listen. If we understand this, we can stand on the promise that He hears our voice. God invites us to stand on his word and to seek out the promises he offers to us in the bible. Don’t forget to head over to https://bethanykimsey.com to grab your copy of the free prayer guide here. S1 Ep 1414. Preparing for the Battlefield

Welcome back to the kitchen table! Bethany has been talking about what it means to be a grace filled warrior. This week we are talking about what it means to be a grace filled warrior on the battlefield. The first step to winning the battle against the enemy, is realizing that you are on the battlefield. As Christians we are not only on the battlefield on the bad days, but in every moment. Ephesians 6 says, “Be strong in the Lord and the strength of His might, put on the whole armor that you may be able to stand against the devil” This week Bethany is talking about What the battlefield looks like and the enemy that is after us How to get prepared for battle and put on the full armour of God How to prepare our children for battle so that they may learn to fight that battle as well. Mama, you are a warrior. Bethany wants to invite you this week to take just a few moments with Jesus and ask him to show you where you are on the battlefield! Then ask Jesus to show you where your kids are on the battlefield, and how can you encourage them to dive into what it means to be a warrior for themselves. Don’t forget to head over to https://bethanykimsey.com or @bethanykimsey on Instagram to share with Bethany where you are in your battle and how you are putting on your full armour of God.

S1 Ep 1313. Hope Givers, Vision Casters

Welcome back to the kitchen table! This week Bethany is talking all about hope. Not hope in the context that culture takes it today where it is full of uncertainty, but hope as it is defined by God. The bible uses hope, as an expectation of what is sure. It is characterized by confidence and trust. As moms, we get to share with our kids this confidence and trust that they can find in trust. We can teach them to hope in what Jesus has given them and what he has promised them. It can be hard to bring up the gospel to our children, especially in the hard moments when we just want to fix things. However, the hard moments can be the best time to share the gospel with our child in a practical way. Ephisians 1:18 says, “Having the eyes of your heart in mind that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you”. God has called us as mamas, to be the hope givers to our children. As moms, we get to share with our kids this confidence and trust that they can find in him. We can teach them to hope in what Jesus has given them and what he has promised them. Join us this week as Bethany shares: How to find your hope in Christ How to share that hope with your child in a practical way How to speak to your child the truth of what God really thinks of them. Don’t forget to head over to https://bethanykimsey.com or @bethanykimsey on Instagram to share how you are sharing the Hope of Christ in your home!

S1 Ep 1212. Who We are in Motherhood

Welcome back to the kitchen table! This week Bethany is sharing more on what it truly means to walk with Christ as a grace filled warrior. Second Corinthians 2:14 says, “but thanks be to God in Christ who always leads us in triumphal procession. We are invited to triumphantly follow Jesus everyday in our motherhood. He is victorious and we can walk in this procession with him, and let him lead us to triumph. He leads this triumphal procession even in our motherhood. This week Bethany is reminding us the these simple truths: -God has already won the victory and now we can walk with him triumphantly -We have a new identity in Christ and our motherhood lies within that identity -We have been commissioned by God Not only has he commissioned us to be a warrior out in the world. But he has also commissioned you as a warrior of a mother for the children that he has set inside your home. He believes that you are the best person to lead and walk with your children as you raise them up. Grab Bethany’s free manifesto to help you walk triumphantly here. S1 Ep 1111. Grace Filled Warrior

Everything Welcome back to the kitchen table! This week Bethany is talking all about feeling overwhelmed as a mom, and what design God has to help us from having this feeling creep in! Do you ever see other moms who just seem to have it all together. Maybe they have that picture perfect life on social media. They always have the best family photos, they do all the fun activities with their kids, and their house always seems to be perfectly decorated and clean! That’s when we begin painting these pictures in our head. We start assuming, she must be so patient, so organized, her husband must be so much more helpful than mine, her kids must listen so well. Don’t let yourself fall victim to the bondage of this thinking mama! Jesus has invited us to walk with him in a relationship that allows us to walk triumphantly. You are no longer under the bondage of performance. God has given you everything you need to be fully equipped to take on motherhood. This week Bethany is sharing with us: How to stop those feelings of overwhelm, imperfection, and fear from creeping in. Letting God take control over your motherhood journey. S1 Ep 1010. Psalm 23- When We Feel Afraid

This week, Bethany is talking all about potty training! If you aren’t a mom at the potty training age, or maybe you have long passed that stage, don’t worry this episode is still for you. God takes little moments like potty training and uses it to teach us a motherhood lesson that can be applicable to all stages of motherhood! Bethany shares this week on the podcast how God used a moment in potty training, to teach her about what a good shepard He really is. Have you ever felt like you are all alone in a situation, you are stressed, anxious, tired, weary, and just feel like you're in the dark. You want to hear a truth mama, we all face dark seasons in life. We all face times that we are scared, and the path seems dark, lonely, and never ending. I worry about the things I can and cannot see on the path that I am trying to navigate. Oftentimes this leads me to be anxious, and I work myself up into a panic. The good news though, we are not on this path alone. Psalm 23 tells us, The great shepherd tends his sheep with diligence and great strength. I shall not want. He brings rest and restoration to our weary, anxiety ridden selves. He restores my soul. He does not leave us alone in the dark as we try to get from point A to point B. We have a good Shepherd who cares more deeply for us that we can ever imagine. Those moments when we feel lost in the dark, all alone, with nowhere to turn, that is exactly when God breaks through. Don’t forget to head over to https://bethanykimsey.com or @bethanykimsey on Instagram to share your potty training stories with Bethany or even just a story about your good shepherd leading you through a messy moment in motherhood!

S1 Ep 88. How Do I Handle Sibling Rivalry? (Part 2)

Last week on “When God Breaks Through”, we talked about changing our mindset in the midst of sibling rivalries. This week, Bethany is talking about how we approach our child in the situation. When it comes to these moments, we have to think about what our long term goals are for them, despite the upclose mess of whatever fight or squabble is happening today! Sometimes the best thing to do is for everyone to take a step back and spend some time in reflection. This allows the child to examine their hearts and the true emotions behind their actions. This also allows us moms to prepare our hearts for how God would have us respond in the moment. When we enter into these moments, we want to approach it with grace and humility. Our goal is not to bust the kid in that moment, but to help them examine their heart. Through careful conversation, we can guide them through the true emotions and feelings, how what they did would be viewed by God, and how they can use this situation to recognize their sinful nature. And even better, God’s love and grace for them despite that sinful nature. Head over to https://bethanykimsey.com to share with Bethany the tips and tricks you’ve learned in sibling rivalries! S1 Ep 77. How Do I Handle Sibling Rivalry? (Part 1)

Welcome back! Today’s episode is all about sibling rivalry. Let's be honest, we all have this in our homes from time to time. Kids fight, they argue, quarrel, and fuss! The problem is, we live in a culture that says this is okay! Yes it is going to happen, but what if God wants us to have a different perspective on this? What’s sometimes difficult in this moment is not to just focus on sibling rivalry or the issue at hand, but to prepare our hearts as moms to figure out how we are best going to handle it. At the moment, it can be hard to seek God’s guidance about the situation when you feel like you just have to quickly put out the fire. Today Bethany shares how we can view messy moments like these as a way to share the gospel with our children. How to use these moments as a way to help our children understand their sinful nature and our loving God. S1 Ep 66. Christmas Devotions and Traditions to Try

Welcome to the kitchen table! Christmas can be hard! Do you ever feel like you make all these plans for fun activities, crafts, or devotionals to do with you kids, and then none of it gets done? It can leave you feeling like a failure. In this week’s episode Bethany shares with every mom that this is just not true! We cannot measure ourselves by what we do, but how we do it. God isn’t worried about you completing a devotional book. He isn’t limited by how well or how poorly you believe you have fleshed out the fullness of Jesus' birth. This does not hold him back from showing how much he loves your child based on anything you do or fail to do. These were simply just short-term goals you had for this Christmas season. What if we looked at Christmas with more of a long term vision? That we are pivoting our children back to Jesus in the everyday mundane things. That IS the Christmas story! In every moment, Jesus came for you! It is great to have short term goals in Christmas, but hold them loosely. We want to see the long-term vision of continual pivoting to point them to Jesus. Don’t forget to follow Bethany on Instagram @bethanykimsey and check out her website https://bethanykimsey.com to share what Christmas traditions are a staple in your house! May this Christmas season be the best that you have had! You can grab Bethany’s free prayer guide here to learn more about praying effectively for your children.
