Show Notes

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Are you feeling the constant stretch and pull of the world? Are you running a race that you can’t possibly win? This week, Bethany dives deeper into understanding the spiritual race and how to run it while staying anchored in God’s truth.

Bethany shares her feelings and experiences of overwhelm, anxiety, apathy, and anger. She talks about how the lies from the enemy whisper powerfully inside of us during these moments of weakness. But, we must identify these lies and take a deep breath of God’s grace and mercy.

We live in a culture that has shaped us to believe that failure and success equate to our identity. We are led to believe that our end result is what matters. But, in fact, our identity is given by God. Our identity was created at the cross, and we are provided a beautiful role. Bethany offers scriptures for how our identity is declared in Jesus Christ. Philippines 3:9, Romans 8, and Ephesians 2:10.

Jesus Christ is the source of our worth and our dignity. We can stand in his truth regardless of what obstacles are thrown our way.

God wants to run this with you, and we need to return to understanding who we are in the gospel.

Colossians 3:1-4 speaks to the spiritual race so profoundly, and Bethany encourages you to keep this one in the forefront of your mind. And while you may need to reset your mind each day, remember that God’s mercy, grace, and love flow over you even on the hard days.
