Good morning. Virginia. I'm Aaron Jolly.
If you're driving this morning. Dense fog has settled across Virginia overnight, cutting visibility to a quarter mile or less. A Dense Fog Advisory runs until 10 A.M., so slow down and flip on those low beams. This fog burns off by mid-morning. And then. Well, then it gets interesting.
Once that fog clears, we're talking gorgeous. Central Virginia hits 78 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Western Virginia reaches 76 with wall-to-wall sunshine. Hampton Roads tops out at 70, though you'll see more clouds along the coast. Light west winds keep things comfortable statewide.
Tonight stays mild — lows around 50 to 52 degrees under clear skies.
Now here's where it gets wild. Tuesday brings record-challenging heat for early March. Central Virginia climbs to 83 degrees. Western Virginia hits 81. Hampton Roads reaches 76. We're running 33 degrees above normal, folks — we could tie or break records set back in 2009 and 2000. While you can.
Wednesday stays warm — low 80s inland — but clouds build as a cold front approaches. A few showers and possibly a thunderstorm pop up late Wednesday, especially west of I-Ninety-Five.
Thursday brings the crash. That front slams through with widespread rain and gusty southwest winds up to 30 miles an hour. Behind it? A dramatic temperature drop. Highs only reach the low 60s, but temps fall through the afternoon. By Thursday evening, we're in the 40s with northwest winds gusting to 35 miles an hour. Western mountains could even see a few snow flurries as cold air rushes in.
Friday rebounds with sunshine and highs near 60 degrees. The weekend looks pleasant — mid-60s Saturday, low 70s Sunday.
Enjoy the warmth while it lasts.
See you this afternoon.
