Show Notes

Good morning. Virginia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside this morning and you might feel like you're standing on a cloud. Dense fog has swallowed much of the state, with visibility near zero along the Chesapeake Bay. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until **10 A.M.** for Hampton Roads and the southeast, so take it slow if you're driving near the water. But don't let that gray start fool you—the sun is fighting back. Once that mist burns off from southwest to northeast, temperatures are going to take off like a rocket. This afternoon is a complete turnaround. Central Virginia surges to **75 degrees**—that's **33 degrees above normal**—with partly sunny skies and a breezy south wind. It's perfect lunch break weather if you ask me. Down in Hampton Roads, you'll top out around **70 degrees**, though that ocean breeze keeps it feeling crisp. The real story is out west. Western Virginia hits **79 degrees** today. Yes, you heard that right—near-summer heat in the mountains. Just keep an eye to the sky after **3 P.M.**; a stray thunderstorm could rumble near the Blue Ridge. Tonight stays unusually mild with lows in the low 60s. A few showers might tap on your window after midnight, mainly north of Richmond. But the real show is Sunday. A cold front brings widespread rain and thunderstorms, especially in Hampton Roads between **8 A.M.** and **2 P.M.** A few storms could pack gusty winds, so keep the radar handy if you're out and about. Looking ahead. Monday and Tuesday bring a brief return to summer with highs soaring into the low **80s** inland—Richmond could flirt with the record books. But Wednesday crashes the party with another round of strong storms and a sharp cool-down. By Friday, highs tumble to the mid-50s. That's a 33 degrees-degree drop in a week. In We're gaining daylight fast now—sunrise at **6, 34 A.M.**, sunset at **6:10 P.M.**—so you've got extra time to enjoy this warmth. Just remember to grab the umbrella before Sunday. See you this afternoon.
