Show Notes

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Virginia Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th. Grab your umbrella. Rain is already rolling in from the south. And it's about to soak the entire state. Hampton Roads gets hit first and hardest. Rain arrives around 6 A.M. And doesn't quit until early evening. You're looking at 1 to 2 inches by the time it's done — the kind of steady soaking that fills every gutter and turns parking lots into shallow lakes. Central Virginia sees steadier rain through mid-afternoon. Expect a half to three-quarters of an inch. Western Virginia gets off lighter — mostly wrapping up by early afternoon with a quarter to half an inch. Now here's the twist. Your warmest temps? They might be this morning. Hampton Roads and Central Virginia both hit 53 degrees with that southwest wind. Western Virginia climbs to 54 by mid-afternoon. But as the front slides south this afternoon, temperatures hold steady or even drop slightly. Don't expect any warming trend today. Tonight, the rain clears out. Skies turn partly cloudy. Lows drop to the mid-30s statewide — feeling refreshing after all that dampness. Friday brings a break. Partly sunny skies across most of the state. Western Virginia sees the nicest conditions with highs near 55 degrees. Central Virginia reaches 54. Hampton Roads stays cooler at 46 with a northeast breeze. Saturday is the star — sunny and warm. Central Virginia hits 65 degrees. Western Virginia climbs to 68. Perfect weather if you ask me. Sunday stays pleasant with mostly sunny skies and temps in the upper 50s to low 60s. But Monday and Tuesday? A winter system could bring a mix of rain, freezing rain. And snow. Exact impacts remain unclear, but it's worth watching. Keep that umbrella close today. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
