Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz.
Folks, winter just hit the snooze button. High pressure is sliding in from the west after yesterday's coastal system drifted south. That means sunshine and mild air — perfect Saturday for whatever you've got planned.
In the next 24 hours. Central Virginia climbs to 65 degrees under blue skies. Light southwest winds keep it comfortable. Out west, you'll see some patchy fog before 8 A.M., then mostly sunny skies push you to 69 degrees. Down in Hampton Roads, northerly winds off the water keep things a bit cooler — partly sunny with a high of 51 degrees.
Tonight stays quiet. Mostly clear skies with lows dropping to 42 degrees in Central Virginia, 44 degrees out west. and 40 degrees near the coast.
Sunday brings the twist. A backdoor cold front sneaks in from the northeast, bringing clouds and cooler air. Central and Western Virginia hit 66 degrees before temperatures fall through the afternoon. Hampton Roads reaches 61 degrees. There's a slight chance of light rain after 1 P.M. In Central Virginia. Sunday night turns cold statewide — lows dip to 29 degrees inland and 33 degrees near the coast.
Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Monday stays cloudy with highs near 39 degrees. A slight chance of snow develops after 7 A.M., especially in the mountains. Monday night into Tuesday morning brings the tricky part — a mix of snow, sleet. and freezing rain is possible. Temperatures hover right at freezing, so watch for slick spots Tuesday morning. Then mid-week flips the script. Highs climb to the mid 60s Wednesday, low 70s Thursday and Friday. and near 80 degrees by next weekend.
Enjoy the quiet today. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
