Show Notes

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Vermont Weather Podcast. It's Monday, February 23rd. Folks, southern Vermont is getting hammered right now. A Winter Storm Warning runs until 7 P.M. Tonight. Snow's been falling since 5 A.M. And won't quit until 5 P.M. We're talking 6 to 10 inches down south, with gusts hitting 38 miles an hour. That's the kind of wind that turns snowflakes into tiny missiles. By tonight, wind chills drop to minus 2. If you're anywhere near Bennington or Brattleboro.. Stay put if you can. Now push north on Route 100 into the central valleys. You're catching a break. Just a dusting today, maybe half an inch. Winds shift north around 7 A.M. Highs reach 31 degrees around 2 P.M., then the bottom falls out. By Tuesday at 5 A.M., you're waking up to 13 degrees. Feels like 3. Up in the Northeast Kingdom, even quieter. A slight chance of light snow. Highs near 28 degrees. But tonight the cold sneaks in hard. Down to 12 degrees by 5 A.M., feeling like 2. Your car battery is going to have opinions about that. The real villain this week isn't the snow. It's what comes after. Tuesday morning, wind chills plummet to minus 5 in the valleys, minus 15 in the mountains. Northeast Vermont could dip to minus 2 actual air temperature. That's frostbite territory in under 30 minutes. Tuesday gives you partly sunny skies and teens to low 20s. Enjoy the calm. A clipper slides through Wednesday with 1 to 3 inches, maybe 4 in the mountains. And highs rebound to the mid 30s. Thursday into Friday gets interesting. A wintry mix moves in. Mostly snow, but some sleet or rain could sneak into southern Vermont. Highs climb to the upper 30s by Friday. Then Saturday.. Sunshine and 40 degrees. Ten degrees above normal. Almost suspicious. Winds shift north around 11 A.M. Down south today. Keep that in mind if you're shoveling. Work with the wind, not against it. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
