Show Notes

Good evening. Vermont. I'm DJ Huzz. Happy Saturday, folks. We picked up a dusting of snow in the last 24 hours—just enough to make the sidewalks slick. Step outside and you'll feel 34 degrees under gray skies. We're climbing to 41 today, which is 9 degrees warmer than your typical March afternoon. As the sun sets. Tonight brings a chill back to the Green Mountains. Southern Vermont drops to 14 degrees under mostly cloudy skies, with a breeze out of the west. In Central Vermont. Here comes a low around 19, you might see a few stray snow showers before 11 P.M. Skies clear out a bit later on. Up in the Northeast Kingdom, temperatures fall to 17. Snow showers are possible before midnight as winds shift to the northwest. Moving on. Here's the big story, a powerful storm is targeting Vermont. Sunday starts deceptively calm with clouds and sun, highs in the upper 30s. But Sunday night, a warm front lifts north, bringing rain and freezing rain. Freezing rain is likely in Central Vermont late Sunday, setting up slick travel for your Monday morning commute. Temperature-wise. Monday turns wild. Strong southerly winds develop as highs surge into the mid 50s. Rain becomes widespread. And it gets gusty, the drama peaks Monday night when a strong cold front sweeps through. Temperatures plummet 20 degrees. That rain changes to snow, potentially causing a flash freeze on the roads. Tuesday stays bitter. Highs only reach the upper 20s with snow showers likely, wind chills will sit in the teens. Wednesday finally brings calmer weather, with highs returning to the 30s under mostly sunny skies. The rest of the week looks seasonable. Mud season is about two weeks away, so enjoy the firm ground while you can. Sunrise was at 7:08 A.M., sunset is at 6:58 P.M. We're gaining three minutes of daylight. As the sun sets. Keep an eye on those back roads for ice tonight. — See you tomorrow.
