Show Notes

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Vermont Weather Podcast. It's Wednesday, February 25th. Folks, grab your coffee and your snow brush. A clipper system is sliding in fast. And snow is already spreading east. Visibilities could drop to half a mile. If you're commuting early, give yourself extra time. Down in southern Vermont, snow flies from 5 A.M. to 10 A.M., peaking around 7 A.M. You're waking up to 13 degrees.. But it feels like 5 on your skin. That's the kind of cold that bites through your gloves. Winds swing from south to southwest around 9 A.M. Three to five inches of fresh powder by the time it wraps up. Highs climb to 31 degrees by 2 P.M. Now push north into the central valleys. Snow rolls in from 6 A.M. to 10 A.M., also peaking around 7 A.M. You're starting at 10 degrees around 5 A.M., then warming to 38 degrees by 3 P.M. That's nine degrees above the February normal. Only one to two inches here. Up in the Northeast Kingdom, you're the cold champion this morning. Three degrees at 5 A.M. Snow runs 7 A.M. to 11 A.M., peaking around 8 A.M. Less than an inch expected. High of 33 degrees by 4 P.M. Tonight, scattered snow showers linger before 11 P.M. Lows settle into the teens statewide. Thursday brings partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 20s to low 30s. Looking further out, Friday turns sunny with mid 30s. Saturday's the gem.. Highs push into the 40s. Enjoy that while you can. Sunday, winter slams the door shut. Snow chances return with highs only in the low 20s. Early next week looks brutal. Single digit lows. Quick history note. On this day in 1969, Burlington got buried under 24 inches from a two day nor'easter. Today won't match that, but we're still in peak snowfall season. Sunrise at 6:38 A.M., sunset at 5:36 P.M. Three more minutes of daylight. We're getting there. I'll be watching this clipper all morning. Take care out there. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
