Show Notes

Good evening. Vermont. I'm Aaron Jolly. Folks, that sunshine today was a beautiful liar. Clear skies, brilliant blue. and 20 degrees. A strong high pressure system is pulling frigid Canadian air straight down across the state tonight. That crystal clear sky and deep snowpack? They're a radiational cooling machine. Temperatures are about to fall off a cliff. In the next 24 hours. Southern Vermont topped out at 21 degrees today. Tonight? Minus 7. Central Vermont hit 22 and drops to minus 6. Push into the Northeast Kingdom and you're looking at minus 9 by dawn. That's the kind of cold where your eyelashes stick together. This is likely the last below zero night of the season. so if your pipes survived this winter, give them one more night of love. Let those faucets drip. Monday morning bites hard. Highs only reach 17 degrees down south, 22 central, 18 in the Kingdom. Still sunny, still cold. but Tuesday. Tuesday changes the whole story. A weak low pressure system slides in bringing snow to southern Vermont by evening. One to three inches possible down there. Central and northeast areas pick up a coating to an inch Tuesday night. Then the real plot twist. Wednesday the air flips. Highs jump into the 40s. Thursday and Friday bring rain chances, still in the 40s. By Saturday we could touch the 50s. That's a 30 degrees swing from tonight's lows to the weekend. Wild. And speaking of turning points, we gained over three minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 6:32 A.M., sunset at 5:41 P.M. The spring equinox is just two weeks out. Prime maple sugaring weather is knocking on the door. Those freeze and thaw cycles coming midweek? Sap's going to be running. Charge your phone tonight. Set that coffee maker. Tomorrow morning is going to sting. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
